I've enjoyed hearty Ghanaian, Nigerian and Cameroonian Jollof but the day I tasted Senegalese 🇸🇳 Jollof, I knew it was and is in a league of its own 💯❤️
They taste differently , Naija Jellof has a unique flavours, and senegalese jellof tastes like the Naija native rice with palm oil I 've eaten Senegalése jellof, it's has got veggies, meat yes with Broken rice like you did, but okra in it too but I prefer the one I grew Up With, the one that we all know. It's hard to pick one. I Will never answer that question either because Jellof rice is originally from Senegal, but Naija perfect it for their palate. Thank you for sharing sister 👍
“Especially if you’re Nigerian.” The SHAAAADE 😭😭😭😂😂😂 I love Senegalese Jollof. I usually say Ghanaian is my fave but Senegal can give it a run for it’s money 😋😋😋😋. No complaints from me ever!
I’m East African and I just love to start a fight and walk away by asking which jolof is best: Ghanaian, Nigerian or Senegalese🤣🤣🤣 I watch the raucous as I enjoy my pilau rice🤣🤣🤣
Senegalese kitchen is base on rice mostly red white rice you name it, I'm half Ghanaian and I must say Senegalese jolof call tiép bou khonk is the best I ever try they just really good at it..
Senegalese Jolof is the original one baby! Even the name is Senegalese « Jolof » also spelled « Djolof » in Sénégal, is the oldest Senegalese empire. Anywhooo just to say that Senegalese Jolof is the best hands down…
@@chidirebecca5377 Did I said she mentioned Ghana?? Ghana jollof rice is better than Nigeria's and in comparison, you compare with the best to make your comparison meaningful.. Have a nice day!!
That’s because we the Sene-Gambians have been just sitting on the sidelines watching this foolishness for too long amongst Ghana and Nigeria and now we’ve seen and had enough so hold our water as we enter the chat, benachin (one dish) or cheb bu jenn or yappa red or white , we got it on lock lol
Wow this recipe made me feel like I'm a little girl again and I'm in my grandmother's kitchen learning from her. It's important to me to teach this to my daughters. My grandma was from Accra, Ghana but I always felt more connected to the continent of Africa than I have felt to the USA even though I am born here. Keeping tradition alive keeps me connected to my family and roots in Africa. Thank you for posting such beautiful cuisine.
Much depends how good of a cook who prepared the dish. To me all of Senegalese foods tastier and more estatically attractive, while Nigerian foods are messy mix of lots of things.
@ify, thank you must for doing this video. When I hear Nigeria and Ghana fighting over who have the best jollof, I usually laugh so hard because the real owner's of jollof is not even making any argument. I was privileged to visit Senegal in 2002. During my stay there,I was blown away by their jollof. I am a Nigerian but Senegal and Gambia cooks the best jollof.
Honey, Nigerians don't ever compete with Ghana or anyone else, we just do our own thing while others are competing with their own shadows thinking Nigeria is their problem. We don't have problem with no one. We are all about live and let's live. We are too busy planning for the next day. No time to hate or be envious my dear friend. So, you got that all wrong.
Senegalese Jollof, for sure. They started the whole thing in the first place. The largest tribe in Senegal is the Jollof (AKA Wollof) tribe. Gambian Jollof and Senegal Jollof are the same, but I'll give it to Senegalese 🇬🇲🇸🇳 🇺🇸
Yessssss I said the same, and being an aid, my client cooked that every other day...it burned me in the inside bad....I have stomach ulcers...so I vomit blood time to time
I had the same experience, but in Silver Spring, MD. Once you start eating Senegalese jollof, it's hard to eat anything else 🤣 I ate it for almost two weeks straight. It's so tasty!
@@ebychuks9797 It's thieboudienne when it's with fish. Thiebou yapp, Thiebou Guinar... The name changes based on what you cook it with. So they just call it Thieb also spelled Tchep by others. Di + vowel makes j sound. Ti + vowel makes a ch sound. E is silent at the end. Ou is u So Thieboudienne is pronounced chebujen.
My friend is from Ghana, she is the best cook,I love her jollof rice,so damn good, they are all delicious. African people are just great cooks or chef,it doesn't matter what country in Africa.😊😊😊❤
Ooohhh this look delish! I would love to try dishes from your culture. I feel like I have tried so many types of food from around the world, but none from the African continent. What a shame. Looks like I am missing out!
I’m African American and live in Ghana with my husband. I’ve had all different types of West African cuisine my whole life. Senegalese cuisine is the best hands down. I don’t care for Thieboudienne (Senegalese jollof) but Ghana nor Nigeria can come close. Liberians jollof comes next.
Lol I'm surprised someone listed Liberian Jollof. It usually gets dismissed when it's actually one of the better versions of Jollof in Africa. Thank you!
I am a Nigeria. Senegal jollof rice is the best cos they cook in a low cook and with vegetables. And remember jollof came from wolof ,which is senegambia
About time, someone set the record straight, just imagine someone claiming Lagos is their’s, fully knowing that Lagos is Nigeria’s. Please enjoy cooking N eating it but don’t strip off the SeneGambians of there traditional food 🙏🏾
I am Senegalese and Jollof does not come from Wolof,Senegal Wolof name is Jollof and there used to be the Jollof empire,so Jollof rice simply means Senegalese rice
Look so delicious 😋 lucky for me I've tasted both and I love both and I'm neither Nigerian or Senegalese I don't have a favorite my Nigerian mother in-law will kill me if she finds out 😁😆😁😆😁 yours looks tastee
As a South African i used to think that Nigerian and Ghana Jollof are the top dogs until I went to Senegal 😭❤️💖 what a beautiful delicious delightful food they have especially the Jollof ✌️
This food looks delicious!!😁💯💯 I an American and I love trying different foods from different places. It's amazing to me to explore different places and to see how people make, cook, and eat different kinds of food!! Different cultures are so wonderful!!😍 THANK YOU FOR SHARING!💯❤❤
I had Senegalese jollof at a Senegalese restaurant in Harlem, New York, USA a while back. It was soooo delicious! 😋👍 I'm Black American and I love experiencing the foods of different countries/cultures. I'm a straight-up "foodie". 😄
Just one tip from a Senegalese girl: remove the veggies before putting in the rice and add a lot more water and let it reduce but aside from that that is a pretty accurate and looks yummy!
Is it the ones I have tasted eaten?? Pls " they " confirmed 🇳🇬 Another or surest way to know/pick the real/best is random people to eat/taste both and confirm. Proven. Nigeria #1. Ghanaians will even fight argue but we know which is which Our people often say no-one will say his/her mother's pot of soup isn't delicious but we know BEST even with the....
Senegalese and Haitian are the 2 most flavorful cuisines. I enjoy Ghanaian and Nigerian food when I can't find Senegalese or Haitian food. I can prepare a good Ghanaian Jolof (smoked meat) with a French-Caribbean flair, ooou lala!
She doesn't want to start a fight by comparing Gh and naija which are the normal competition so she went with senegal, Ghanaians are grateful for taking back the competition ur people forcefully started on them thank you 🙏🙏
I don’t have to insult you but is it just that you are cooking Sénégalais jollof now you want to convert everyone and condemns your own here in Senegal I’m and please don’t try that again thanks
If you taste the 2, you will forcedly answer the question. Senegalese jollof rice most known as "Thiebou Dieune" (rice and fish) is the Best for all Time.
For everyone one asking where to get a pot like her’s, it looks like a Chinese sand pot. I think Japan and maybe Korea has something similar, but I don’t know their name for it. They’re made of clay, and you have to learn how to use and take care of them or they’ll crack. Only use them on open flame stove or in ovens. Soak before using, and there are probably other maintenance tips too. Remember not to wash them with soap/detergent or the clay will absorb the soap/detergent. Hope this helps❤
I thought those look like those pots that they use for soups and Asia that was thinking for you have to be very careful with those pots but good thoughts soaked it before you use it
I visited Senegal, Nigeria, and Ghana in December 2023 and hands down, the Senegalese version was TOP TIER. They were all tasty with their different flavor profiles, but if given a choice…give me the plate from Senegal
