I bought a running/driving 02 2500 donor from a coworker for 500.00. I’ll be putting the engine, trans in my K5 Blazer. I also will be using the hydro boost. Unfortunately I decided I’m going all out on rebuilding both and setup for turbo. Your 290hp at the wheels is awesome considering they only got 300 at the crank from the factory. Nice to see what an optimized tune can do rather than what the manufacturer puts in due to fuel economy, emissions, warranty etc.
That's a great 6.0 LS swap bro! on that C10, I've got a 95 Chevy c1500 I've got a 5.3 going in there, the only thing is...it's a five-speed nv3500 Transmission, so hopefully I can get this to work out....so I can enjoy that LS power in my obs.😎👍✌
Good job....I have watch ALOT of LS swap videos most of them I turn off halfway with the thought of idiot on my mind... Your video is entertaining to the point actually gave some pretty damn good information after watching the video I immediately subscribe and left alike and here's my comment ... My way of supporting good work. The only part you threw me off is somewhere in the middle you say you bought a 6l80 but I think you meant 4l80
Thanks for the feedback. I'm not always sure if anyone likes the video's but I appreciate you leaving a comment. You are correct, I did say 6l80 when I meant 4l80. I've been researching the 6l80 and must have had it on my mind. I'm not good at editing video's so I try to do a lot in one take. I personally prefer the one-take videos I watch vs the over-editing with bad intro's so I try to do a better job at it.
I did buy an adapter for the oil pressure sender. It was a ICT billet piece that is usually for a turbo supply line. The water temp I just went into the passenger head tap towards the rear of the engine.
I am glad I came across this video, I am contemplating whether or not to do an LS swap on my 79 Stepside Shortbed. The wiring is whats scaring me. Were you intimidated before starting this swap? Do you have to change your rear axle?
Looks good I’m in the middle of the a LS swap on my 82 C10 got it running, but once I turn it off and try to crank it up again it’s a problem. I have to keep turning the key, I have good gas pressure I really don’t know what’s going on. HELP
Nice job Brother! New Sub here for sure. Donor vehicle is definitely the way to go. I made complete build videos of my build. My swap was very similar and I went Holley Term X too... now I am really thankful I did cause I am thinking about another cam swap. Considering the BTR Truck Norris and I might try it with the stock converter. What cam are you running... still stock?
Thanks! I thought I had a ss2 cam but after tuning and checking the vacuum I'm thinking it's a stock grind. I currently have a summit stage 2 turbo cam on the bench I'm going to swap in, just trying to find time. I'm hoping to make a couple of videos soon since I've changed a few things.
what spring rate do you have on the QA1's? I just installed mine with wilwood drop spindles and an aluminum ls block and man it still sits way to high. Your ride height looks great.
Thanks. It's perfect for me. I have the 750 pnd springs. They are adjusted about 3/8 up the shock if that makes sense. They did settle a little and lowered but it worked out right for me.
@@avarageerod Ok yeah I have the 750 lb springs as well but I haven't driven the truck yet so I'm hoping it will settle if not I'll swap to the 650. Right now my coilovers are set all the way down and its still way high.
Motor mounts are made by Tejas Steelworks. I did resuse the stock transmission crossmember but had to move it forward a few inches and drill new holes. I am also using the stock driveshaft. That will depend on which transmission you are replacing as they have two different length th350. I had a 700r4 and the shaft was the correct length for me.
I'm looking for a donor for my 66 c10 swb. Maybe I missed it but I don't remember what you used to run the 6L80. Does the terminator X run the motor and trans? Do you use the same wiring harness for both or separate? Need to figure out how these things work to know what it's going to take to look for in a donor. In other words, an I opening up a while new can of worms by running a trans that did not come with the motor like a 4l60e with a 4.8 or 5.3 or a 4l80 with a 5.3.
@@avarageerod does the the 4l80 have its own wiring harness that plugs into the terminator separate from the motor harness? Did you buy harnesses or make your own?
I am sorry this might be a dumb question you said it’s an lq4 ls 6.0 right. So if I am using that same engine on my 82 c10 all I would need is the ls mount from tejas steel right
No dumb questions. I did say LQ4 ls 6.0. All you need to get the engine mounted is the Tejas motor mounts. You might need to move your transmission forward but you can reuse the factory crossmember and just drill new holes to mount it.
@@avarageerod I was caught off guard with that pronunciation.... It is pronounced te·has. Tejas is one of the early names for what is now Texas. I concur the Tejas Steelworks motor mounts are great an love that you can use the factory condenser location when using them.
I thought the adapter from coldhose.com but I'm changing my compressor today to a different style. The current one is a variable displacement and I need a fixed displacement.
@@avarageerod ok cool, I'll take a look at that website. Are you going video that ac swap? I use tejas steel motor mounts that also let's you retain ac in stock position. I need to find ac adapter now
@@avarageerod I was wondering about that when you said you were running the vintage air kit on the truck. Please keep us in the loop on the compressor replacement and if you can keep it in the same location, I'm going to be doing essentially the same swap with virtually the same donor (mine is a 2000 2500HD) on my 79 K20 and the A/C has been a concern because it's a non A/C truck so kinda gotta use a vintage air kit but don't want to move the compressor if I can avoid it but need to know if the vintage air compressor can be made to fit down there. Sorry about the long post but excellent video and you got another like and subscribe.
