Smallrig probably makes the best cages - the customizability is absolutely insane. I’ve been looking at their stuff for a while, but the price is kind of steep (it’s still good value for the money though). Great review!

Thanks Tony! Indeed their cages are great and are like an investment to the whole ecosystem of camera accessories they've built. If you choose the correct parts, they can work with multiple cameras down the road.

Nice review. Also thanks for taking the time to discuss why you might need a cage. Too often I think people might get all this gear without understanding this aspect. Do you use any manual lenses with this setup? If so, do you a follow focus attachment or still pull focus manually somehow?

Thank you Ryan.😄 For focus, yes I use manual glass like the olympus m.zuiko 50 1.8 and also mostly use the sigma 18-35mm in manual mode. I find pulling focus just by hand on the lens barrel quite comfortable. Using a follow focus to me feels a little overkill at this point, might try in the future tho.

Thanks for your kind words man! Regarding your question, yes you can use the g85+sigma 18-35 with a gimbal, although balancing it on the gimbal is going to be a little tricky, as the setup is very front heavy.

Great Video, Love your videography. SUBSCRIBED!!! just had 2 questions if its not a trouble for you to answer. 1, what camera did you use to shoot this video ? 2, I have heard that sometimes 4g g7 files that are separated, don't sink up together perfectly and there are few dropped frames. have you had that problem ? Thank you again for great video!!

Hello Arutking, Thank you for your kind words. Regarding your questions: 1. A-roll - Sony A7iii B-roll - Lumix g7 / g85 2. Yes this is correct the g7 does split files for longer recordings and does drop some frames sometimes, it is an issue you have to work around. The G85 doesn't do that, it just creates one big video file.

I have a G7 but I don't know if I feel confident investing in Panasonic lenses. My budget doesn't call for expensive glass, but I don't know if I should start collecting lenses for a mount that I move away from in the future. What should I do? Also, the big lens on your G7 what is it? 18-35?

Hey man, If you don't want to invest a ton of money into one system, I would suggest you to go for ef lenses as they are widely compatible. In my case I use a Sigma 18-35 with viltrox ef m2 adapter. Although if you want to stay on the budget side of things I would say look into the Lumix 25mm 1.7 that's a really nice little lens.

I do make changes to the profiles, however don’t have the camera on me right now. Usually i lower the contrast, saturation, and sharpness a little bit, but definitely not by -5. Will try to get back to you in a few weeks
