I agree, You ARE definitely 'Birdie'! (And I'll bet, if you set up some T-shirts with your logo on them, they would definitely sell, cuz it's SO cute, and fits your channel and personality so well!)
Ow girl! My girl I’ve got you beat😂😂try being named coral Margarita Gonzalez your whole life? It was tuff but at 62 don’t care anymore but I’d always gotten the special questions and attention for the name lol
In my culture, your name changes throughout your life. Your parents and loved ones have names for you as a baby and child, but as you grow and learn who you are, you pick your own name(s). I think Birdie is a wonderful name for you!
I can so relate! From the time I entered kindergarten, I wanted to use my middle name, but I was too shy to let anyone know. After my first child was born, I started going by my middle name. However, 40 years later, I still don't feel like either of my first and middle names "fit." For a while now, I've been considering taking on a new name, but I haven't settled on anything. BTW, I turned my minivan into a camper AFTER I turned 70, and I LOVE IT!
I most definitely relate. I hope you find something you love. Let me know what you want me to call you! And how cool about the van! I hope you're having amazing adventures. 🤗
@noor.dinaryspider LOL! If (or when) I ever get my channel going, I'll consider that name! For now, I really enjoy seeing other people's vanlife videos. So many great Ideas!
I was named after my Grandma and my adopted Mother. All through school years my teachers said my name wrong. I guess they always thought that it was spelled wrong on the class list. Some of the names were Norma, Mona, Myrna…My name was Morna Joan. My middle name is Joann but was spelled different like my Mom’s was. My Grandma never liked her name so told my Mom that if she named me Morna she would call me another name…She kept her word and called me Jody and it stuck. But for school Mom had to use my real name, since I wasn’t called Morna at home I didn’t know (in the first couple of years at school) that the teachers were talking to me. When I was a teenager I was glad my Grandma gave me my nickname name Jody. But now that I’m older I like my real name too. But still go by Jody most of the time. Unless it’s something official then I have to use Morna. Birdie fits your personality, like Jody fits mine.😊❤
You are absolutely the characteristics of the strong and compassionate name Rachel. But also Birdie is the perfect name, too, solid, reliable and adventurous.
Hi Birdie you look like a Keala and a Birdie. You truly are a Path of light that flies like a bird into all of our lives every Thursday. We truly look for that path that brings you, our Birdie. You will forever our Birdie a.k.a. Keala, which is a beautiful name. Keep shining you give hope to so many people and the amount of subscribers that you have is proof of that. As always safe travels see you next week. 😊
I totally understand. I hated my name and often complained to my dad about it asking why he didn’t name me something else. He finally told me that I could legally change it when I got older. In the meantime, I told my family and friends what name I wanted to be called and refused to acknowledge them if they used the wrong name. They caught on pretty quick! I had it legally changed in my early 20s. Birdie fits you.
Birdie…I think that you have grown so much since your first videos. You have definitely learned to fly by overcoming some of your fears and learning how to make the best of things. I also see the compassion in you, so Angel is not too far off, either. But I think you have so much character to go with the compassion that Birdie is perfect. Fly strong and soar above the clouds. PS. I am glad you got out of the city and, hopefully, to a cooler location.
I love Birdie! It fits you so wonderfully! So happy to have found your channel. You are so warm, genuine, sweet, honest and oh so fun! Social media is so full of people wanting to portray a certain persona, and you my dear are the real thing! Thank you!
It's very common for people who experience spiritual Awakening to change their name people like Eckhart tolle, adychanti.... so birdie embrace it with no shame!
Isn't it amazing? I'm 50 and still have to remind myself all the time. It's hard not to just revert back to who you're used to being sometimes. But it's also fun when you master a new thing. One thing I'm always working on is judgment. I tend to be more judgmental than I want to be. Definitely more judgmental than I should be. So I continually work on it, reminding myself that to be human is to be imperfect. And that's okay. It really is. ❤️
Birdie, delightful Birdie, when I was little & much later, when I was, like you do, reflecting upon how to deal with my fellow humans, my Mummy used to quote Blaise Pascal to me 'Man is neither angel nor beast, and misfortune dictates that whoever wants to be an angel becomes a beast.' (but she said it in french). Thank you for reminding us all that it is okay NOT to be a saint! ❤❤❤
Hey Birdie. It’s a great name and fits you. Interesting. Anyway, I’ve been married a number of times, and with each marriage I took my husband’s last name. Tradition and all that crap. When I married my current husband I refused taking his name and went to my attorney and had my real name given back to me. I now carry my birth name and love it. It made me feel like “me” again. Like a warm blanket on a cold night. I can understand why you didn’t feel at home with your birth name or your chosen name, but enjoy Birdie. Birds are free, airborne and musically inclined. They are so different from our land bound human selves. They give the feeling that if they didn’t want to be where they are, they just fly to another place. Kind of like a nomad. So it fits you perfectly.
Birdie fits you perfectly and is such a cute name! I have never felt like a MaryEllen but have never been able to figure out what name would fit me better. Thanks for sharing! You're so fun to listen to! 🐦💙
Thank you, Birdie, for once more baring your soul! You are a delight and I look forward to every one of your videos! God bless you as you continue to grow and heal and find peace!
Birdie fits you. I like it and even if you had never told us, it wouldn't have mattered to me. Thanks for keeping me company while I had nachos and salsa for supper. Have a great evening Bridie.
Great video. I am neurodivergent and I have never embraced my name either. I have another name that I use on forums and where I need a user name, but have never tried to get anyone in my life to call me by that name, but I wish I had. Go you!
You so are a birdie I love that name for you I waited all week for your post it's like following a series on TV and waiting for your show to come on I'm so happy you have a new one so after dinner tonight this will be my present to myself watching birdie I'll be venmoing you soon again
my journey with names has led me here. my paternal grandmother’s maternal grandmother was 100% cherokee from the Birdie tribe in north carolina. so her legal surname was Birdie.
I think your name is fitting….Birdie, a free spirit that doesn’t stay in the same place for too long. When I was younger I wanted to change my name as I felt my name was very old and no one my age had that name. I had many nick names that friends called me back then so that made it a little easier.
Oh Birdie, I changed my entire name many years ago and all of the thi is you brought up are Def true. I'm still dealing with it. Ugh like you I wanted to define who I was not any one else. I totally understand.
Thank you so much for telling me about this. It's frustrating, no doubt, as you are aware. But it's always nice to know we're not alone in something. I hope you're enjoying your name these days. But if not, you can always change it! 😁
Hey girl hey! 🥰 What a really interesting conversation that I would love to have with you sitting around a campfire. I often joke that I barely identify as human, mostly kidding, because not only do I find ohter people very difficult to relate to , but spiritually, this is just a body I inhabit in the 3rd dimension, and I don't care about the labels and constructs that most people desperately cling to here. for example, when I meet people that have 3 or 4 names with hyphens and shit, I just run. 😆😆When I meet people, I don't care about their age, their race, their gender or sexuality, unless they bring it up. I don't ask any questions, I'm just focused on what we are going to talk about. I literally cannot do small talk lol.
You have the best stories! It's so much fun to tune into your channel. You seem like a Birdie to me. Stick with it. A bird is happy and light-hearted, and makes you feel good. Thirteen thousand people can't be wrong, can they? The name doesn't matter. You could be "hey, you", and I'd still watch.
My grandpa's given name was Birdie Brown. Everyone called him BB. I smile every time I hear that name as it makes me think about him. I'm enjoying your channel, as I just discovered it. New Sub.
So glad you found a name that feels like home! It's really important for your identity. I know it's different, but about 15 years ago I began going exclusively by my nickname. I discovered even the doctor's/dentist/PT offices, etc want to call you by your preferred name, so when someone calls me by my full name (anyone from high school or college) it seems strange!
We change so many times in our lives it's only fitting that we get new names for each change. I actually legally changed mine as soon as I hit 18 lol. I've had lots of names too that I just went by. And the most recent one (not even the one I'm using here) is starting to become something that feels like a past name. But I don't have a new name in mind yet.
Being someone who has changed her name myself, tho I change my last names instead of my first...I totally get this. It's significant and every time I am entering life as a new person (ie: I'm totally not who I used to be -at all) I change my last name. I understand about 'earning' or feeling rightly matched or even feeling you are worthy of(?) that name too - bc I thought about taking my Great Grandmother's last name...but I knew I could never be the 'lady' she was, so now I'm glad I didn't try that name. It's a transformation kind of thing for me, for someone else I met working once too who used to change her name (and her hand rings-snake rings signifying transformation I guess etc), oh what a talk she & I had! Anyway, kinda like the one you just had with us. Thanks for sharing your story! You are so a Birdy! The brightness, the pleasant song which is your laughter, we enjoy you by any name you please. I must be trying too hard again, seeing as I've written so much(!) Again, but I just like you very much and...and I love that no matter what you say, that continues. It must mean that it's not about all the little & big things of ev-er-y-thing, it's just who you are that is so likeable. A rose by any other name still smells as sweet.
Took on the name Jean Ella to honor my oldest sister who passed away. Rachel Mae is a beautiful name as well as Birdie. I love your personality and honesty, great story teller.
Great story!! Growing up, everyone called me by my nickname except my paternal grandmother. As a teenager I wanted to be called by my birth name but couldn't get anyone to do it, so when I left home and joined the military is when I was able to make the break. No one knew me by my nickname. Then a few years later, when I went through a divorce (which my parents all but disowned me over it) I legally removed any last name that I had (birth last name included) and took my middle name as my last name. I have been very happy with that decision now for 4 decades!!
Oh my, Birdie, you are such a delight! I so love your authentic self! Over my lifetime, I accumulated married names. One day it hit me when I was filling out a government form that required me to list my married names, as they called them...aliases. yikes. People using aliases are criminal. It floored me. Well, what's worse is that I had to list four, yes four, aliases!! By the time I got done listing all those names I was freaked out. I wondered, "Who am I really?!" Through much soul searching, I determined my first and middle names were truly mine. God given at birth. Thus, I dropped all those aliases and legalized my first and middle as my first and last. It's all me! Yay me! I do, and always have, loved my name, first and, now, last!! I think that is the Beauty in a name, feeling it! Birdie so suits you!!
Hahaha are we bopsy twins? I too have changed my name over the years repeatedly. I don't own any of them but it helps me to put people into categories according to what they call me :-) I must say I really love Birdie!! She is an awesome person with an amazing personality.
Just found you. Like you I always felt my name didn’t fit. When I was 18 I got on a greyhound bus to college, and without thinking I introduced myself as Erin. It just felt like it was my real true name. So yeah. Love your channel.
I love all your names 😍 I do agree, Birdie feels good. 🐦 hope you have a blessed day 🙏 😇lol angel 😇 is a cute one. Love & Light always Karen 😊and Miles 🐶
Nobody would’ve thought that about you, ❤I think you just wanna fly, fly away and that’s y Birdie fits you❤ you just flit around from place to place as the wind blows❤
I’m still trying to find a name that feels 100% right to me. I’m also neurodivergent as well as being nonbinary all which I discovered four years ago at 49. Right now I’m just grateful that I know it’s ok to rename yourself when you discover who you are. Thanks for sharing ❤
Birdie! It's a lovely name. You are so adventurous to try out a bunch of different names until you found one you like. I was a court witness for a friend who changed her whole name, and it took me about a year of trying to call her the new name and then forgetting. Now I can't imagine that I ever called her the old one-- she fits the new one and my brain has caught up.
You are delightful! Interesting thing happened right before sitting down to watch this video. Our blue heeler who loves to hunt bunnies and squirrels etc. has been anxious, panting on and off, for the past hour or so. Going in and out the doggy door, which we finally closed and said she had to take a break. She came up to me with her I need something face several minutes ago, and I said show me, and she walked to the door. Ok, I said and opened it for her, she ran out into the yard and I went out too, registering in my mind that there was a bird out there that had been making a lot of noise for a while. Headed back in, Out of the corner of my eye I saw a little bird sitting statue-like on the arm of a chair, even as I stood 2 feet from him…Bella saw and started toward him, but I called her back. Got my husband, who walked right up to it, reached out and stroked its back, and it “woke up” and flew off. Joined its Mom (hubby thinks maybe it was still learning to fly) and they few off. Strangest thing…and then I watch this. Maybe I’m supposed to encourage you, your name is sweet, and you can fly! Metaphorically speaking, of course. Check out Isaiah chapter 40, a favorite. 😊❤
i really had thought you had 'chosen' the name from Aunt Birdie in "The Little Foxes". i was obsessed with the play and the movie when i was young. why wouldn't my new friend Birdie have the same obscure weird obsession, and name herself after the one Sweet character in this play about human weaknesses and evil. i even had an imaginary timeline of when you changed it... in my Pretend Brain it was when you became an Aunt. i have birding books, keep a bird journal, and Daily go visit my feathered friends in the park; but NEVER thought you chose the name because of BIRDS. oh my silly brain..."What's in a name? That which we call a rose/ by any other name would smell as sweet." [i love your little logo of a bird STUFFED in a car and i thought that was an allusion to your last name. also thought it was "The Blue Bird of Happiness"....]
It’s so easy to remember “Birdie” also as a Birdie you can fly away (metaphorically) any time you want, just hop in the bird mobile and fly on down the road. See Birdie I have imagination too 😂😂 so long friend
Names are important!! I have had my name changed legally 3 times (marriage/divorce situations 🙃) but how my name showed up in the world really mattered to me! Love that Birdie makes you feel authentically YOU! 🐦❤
Wow! What a great story Bestie 😃. Ohh SNAP! that is a crazy fluke that you were being interviewed by Kayala (not sure of the spelling) all those years later 😮 Well I really love your name that you gave yourself, Birdie! 💕just perfect and I believe it’s the right name for you 🩵💎🤗
Nobody should ever forget that as someone who thought she had it all figured out is blown away by the outpour of love that has taught me that this generosity given has made me realize that I have been always winning even though I always felt like a loser. I am learning everyday from you guys. I am winning because maybe the whole world doesn't hate me. Maybe my mistakes are forgivable. I still look both ways when I cross the street but I know in this lifetime or next, I will know that when I am looking for something, anything at all, I might find something extraordinary. A world full of friends. Thank you each and every one of you.
My mother was known as Bunny my whole life. Dad gave her that name when they were dating. What's in a name anyway. You definitely are a Birdie. Such a sweet name for such a lovely person. Maybe you just had to grow into that name. My name isn't legally Ginny either but a lot of folks don't know my legal name.
Hi Birdie, I think the name Birdie fits you like a glove! From the very first time I watched you and you said your name I thought that fits her perfectly! ❤
Haha, that story is so insane that it has to be true. You are a Birdie, it fits you best. Well, maybe you are more of a “mynah” birdie. Aloha from SoCal (via HI) 🌺🌴🤙🏻🌈
Birdie is absolutely 100% THE perfect name for you! And whatever you want to call yourself works for me! I really seriously dislike my name but at this point it is what it is LOL So glad to see you this evening as I had a very scary encounter that honestly left me pretty shaken but being able to laugh with you really helped calm me down so thank you! And what a beautiful camp spot! Enjoy your week Miss Birdie of the Perfect Name! 💛🌼🏵
This is serendipitous. My son will be 18 and graduate next year. I've kept his dad's name since we divorced simply to avoid extra questions at his school or doctors etc. I want to officially change it next year but I don't want to go back to my maiden name. Plus I went seriously off the rails when my fiance passed 8 years ago so I kinda want to ditch any connection to who I was and embrace the completely new vanlife me. Still pondering.
Birdie just fits! Love it! I never really liked my name, but I'm so indecisive, idk if I could even come up with a good one! Heck, I've had my van a year and a half already and still can't come up with a name for it!
I had a great aunt who I was very close with when I was a kid. If anyone reading this has seen the movie “Auntie Mame,” that was pretty much her. She changed her name several times and was known to many by different names, but to me she was always Teta Koka.
