When I was a child my parents would often take me camping just outside of Ruidoso, New Mexico. That began my bond with nature. I payed it forward and took my children hiking, camping and backpacking in the SoCal mountains and the Sierra. Over the last decade and a half my 3 grandkids have been my hiking/backpacking and camping partners. Life, and nature have been good to me thus far.
I love photography and I love hiking, especially sunrises in the mountains, but some of my deepest experiences happened during small sailboat cruises on Atlantic. In my everyday life I have to deal with a lot of people, stress, problems (often artificial or just blown out of proportion). But after several days of sailing, all this mess just... peeled away. It's you, the wind, the sea, and the knowledge that every tiny thing you do just *matters*, with very real and quite uncomplicated results. And then, *then*, when you see something beautiful, like a brilliant starry sky above and green-blue sparks of fluorescent algae dancing below, or a rainbow reflections on flying fish... This is when you connect with nature :)
When I reach to places where no other creatures with two legs, or even their traces can be seen around, and there I feel the deepest connection to what I find around me. Thanks for your great contents.
We've been using the Katadyn Befree filter, the flow rate is much faster than the sawyer and it's more compact, so far it's been working really well for us! Looks like a neat adventure up there!
This is very inspiring!!! Look forward to seeing more videos of you summitting peaks, and hope that the rain returns to California soon. Cheers from a fellow scrambling and photography enthusiast in Washington state!
Nice video! I've been getting more and more into mountaineering over the past few years and it brings some really unique photography opportunities. I totally agree that you learn the range pretty thoroughly by climbing the peaks - I'm able to pick out a lot more landmarks now, both when I'm hiking down in the valleys and up on the ridgelines.
I've been following both your channel and Kraig Adams' channel for some time and you both use hoodies when you're hiking. Doesn't it get hot? What material is it made of?
Thanks for sharing... great video & location...I am in lockdown at the moment so I envy you being able to get out and visit great places... cheers from Australia..😀
Hey, it's been a few years since I got into photography but I'd just like to say thankyou because you're the first video about photography I ever watched (yes first). I got interested and looked up a video about how to use your camera and yours was there and you helped a lot. I've been doing it for years now and just think it's cool how you were a part of that.

This video really speaks to me. I moved out to northern Arizona from Florida, and the gorgeous scenery has motivated both my outdoor pursuits and rekindled my love of photography.
