I had no idea the OP-1 field and OP-Z can speak to each other this way. Using Bluetooth BLE, I can send MIDI data to the OP-1 field wirelessly and then record directly to tape. Loving this workflow so far! #teenageengineering
Thank you so much for this video! So happy you mentioned how the Op1f sequencers are not fun to use. It an absolutely wonderful synth-I've sampled every instrument imaginable into it, but I have never once enjoyed making music with it on its own. TE has proven they can make an amazing sequencer, especially with the KO-II. Why its functionality is in $299 machine and not $1999 is beyond me. As always, appreciate all you do!
yeahhh. I mean I know people who use the sequencers on the field but ... not me. I am still trying to learn them more so I can give them a real spin but as of now, NOPE
im curious why not just use the sequencers inside the op1f and then you won't need an external device? edit: i heard you mention the fun factor, but is there a reason in objective lack of fun-ctionality in op1f sequencers compared to op-z? :D
@@djcuvcuv op-z sequencers are much better and offer more trigs and other advantages. The op-1 field sequencers are the same old ones from the OG OP-1. It’s really time for them to update since they are calling this the flagship device.
@@bjamminsincebirth3494This 1000%! Almost all the sequencers in the OP1f unacceptable. The fact this video exists is a testament to that. So happy @Khordmaster created this content. Very inspiring. TE need to make the OP-Z or KO-II talk to each other to make up for the OP1f massive shortcomings with it sequencers.
Syncing is possible, I’ve done it it’s set in the metronome screen. I had delay issues with it but it was very much fun. Not sure if you can make it wirelessly though I used the usb cable.
@@djcuvcuv the Z tracks can be set to different midi channels? The field only seems to play *midi sequence* drums or synth & not both. I would like my op1-f to be set to drums on ch 10 and synths on a different midi channel, hit play on the sequencing device & have both play simultaneously.
Unfortunately you can’t, or at least not to my knowledge. You can’t assign multiple synths to multiple midi channels, if you could it’d be quite easy to achieve, you’d just need to assign a specific midi out channel for each track of the op-z and you could sequence the hell out of the op-1… but it is what it is.
@@djcuvcuv Totally agree, that the OP-1's sequencers are pretty lame. I will say, the poor implementation of MIDI In over USB-C is the main reason I'm considering selling my OP-1F. Tried sequencing with a Polyend Play, doesn't work at all, despite the fact that the Field can power the Play. I've heard the Oxi-One also doesn't send MIDI to the Field.
