Shout out to the editing team/person. The synchronisation between music and video is so intelligent and (along with the stunning camera work that goes further that just standing behind Ian at the baseline) make the shot sequences far more engaging. The clever use of slow motion to match the popping ball sound with key beats (not always the obvious ones either) is really appreciated but will go unnoticed by most. Well played guys ✌️

I worked in tv news for 18 years, still dabble in free lance sports videography and teach high school video production-your videos are always very well-done! Kudos to your video team! I also coach our high school boys/girls teams and purchased the Elevate Tour just prior to last season and love it! I too played as a junior with the original Pro Staff and I have to say the Elevate Tour is the closest thing I’ve used since the original Staff! At this point a couple of my guys players have switched to it as well-Fabio at Diadem has been very awesome for me and my team-we r also now using their string and hope to get a good deal on some practice balls soon! Glad you like the racket and keep producing the great looking videos-I’ll be honest had it not been for Tennis Troll channel I wouldn’t have even known about Diadem! I love watching both channels-you guys do a great job!

I absolutely love this brand, I live in Grand Cayman and my club started to carry them, I’ve been testing the Elevate and the Nova, waiting to test the elevate tour (the clubs order is held up in customs) before ordering either of the elevate. I gave my Babolat friends and 300g Nova to try and they fell in love too. Watch out Diadem for a decent size order coming your way from the Caymans, I’m putting these rackets in the hands of everyone I play with! For long term Ian, I’ve seen a few other reviewers add a couple of grams of lead tape to the regular elevate to help stabilize the head at the net.

Interesting point about the lighter version. I play with the Wilson Clash 100 Tour but I keep my original Wilson Clash 100 in my bag. Living in the south and the heat, the regular Clash is great to pull out near the end of a long match as I get fatigued. The lighter weight helps me get through the ball when I am out of gas. I learned this trick from the guy over at Tennis Spin.

I love that you are working with Diadem and hope you truly are enjoying the racquets. I started playing tennis about 4 years ago, found your channel 3 years ago (for which I am truly thankful as I appreciate all your content from the teaching and recommendations and now the matches) and then I found Diadem about 9 months ago. My wife and I are each now playing with the Elevate Tours and love the stability and the solid feel that you noted in your discussion in your video. I haven't given the non-tour version much play, but we're the first in our area to use Diadem, but I've loaned a couple out and am pretty sure my friend will get them now so I will pass on your discount code. Weight and weight distribution is easy to adapt on a lighter racket as you have margin to work width. I would take the non tour version over the tour version every time. Also because of the lower ra of 64 vs 67 Try 6 gram at 6hr and add 4 gram inside the butt cap. The swing weight will be a little lower than the tour version, but it will feel even more solid than the tour version. Then you'll like this one more for volleys as well If you want the solid feeling and even less swing weight increase, add that 6 grams at the top of the grip in stead
@GeraldVeeneman
@GeraldVeeneman 3 года назад
I also prefer the standard Elevate over the Tour version because of the lower flex though it was a little too light to me in stock condition. So I added 4 x 4" of 1/4 inch lead strips (centered at 10 and 2) and counterbalanced with 2 screws (8 grams) into the foam under the buttcap. Feels really rock solid with amazing serve power!
@benine9
@benine9 2 года назад
I use the normal Elevate FS for tougher singles matches (normal and daily stick is the Gravity Tour). 4 grams at 3 and 9 plus an overgrip fixes all the stability issues at the net.

Nice demo, Ian! I've never tried their racquets, but I have tried Diadem strings. I know some people don't like it, but I absolutely love the star shape. Solstice Power off the stringer is my favorite string. I love the power, spin, and control. I do have to be honest though, I don't play with Solstice Power normally any more just because the strings lose tension too quickly for me. Still, they seem like a great company, and I wish I had the time and money to replace my strings more because I would definitely be playing Solstice Power then.

Diadem Elevate Tour is a phenomenal racquet.Great plow through and comfort from the foam filled racquet. Their Impulse multifilament strings are better than the x-one biphase in my opinion because they have better pop and spin. I agree with a lot of your points. Excellent on the serve thus far. Good feel and response at the baseline as well as the net. Arm friendly. So you switched to this particular brand as a result of an arrangement to promote the brand and in return you get a free supply of racquets and strings? Which is makes sense from a business and financial perspective. Back in the late 1980’s I switched from Prince to Wimbledon racquets when the sales representative offered me three free frames a year to use and promote at the Pro Shop I worked at stringing and selling racquets. As the saying goes, “ For free take, if you pay thing it over “. I played with the Eclipse Oversize model which replaced my Prince Spectrum Comp 110’s. Ended up getting six free frames so it was a great deal while it lasted.

I chose this brand last spring because of the Patriotic duty and wanting to feel special like being sponsored. The salesman was nice enough and I bought two 98 elevates with their poly and synthetic gut like strings with bag, hat, t shirt and he threw in a CBD oil roll on which was nice all around 300 $. I played with them indoors and outdoors and added lead. The durability has been an issue, one racket frame completely cracked after a long training session and the remaining one has small cracks and I use it on the wall only. I switched back my two pro staff 97s and haven't been disappointed. Maybe one day Ill try the elevate tour or Nova.

I think immediate feel will often favor the lighter feeling racquet, especially feeling them side by side, but your muscle memory will adapt to the heavier racquet over time, and you'll be swinging it like you currently swing the regular one. So I actually think the Tour is better for long-term benefit.
@EssentialTennis
@EssentialTennis 3 года назад
Very possible you're correct. They're both great frames!
@soyellowsoviolent
@soyellowsoviolent 3 года назад
I feel the same. For me, lighter racquet = more effortless swing. And effortless swing leads to carelessness.
@davelee6002
@davelee6002 3 года назад
@@soyellowsoviolent I don't view it that way though. A lighter racquet merely means that you have to swing harder to generate the same force that you could with a slower swing and heavier racquet. There are many excellent players out there are playing with very light racquets, such as ncaa div1 players playing super high level with not the "pro" but the "mp" versions of racquets. So it depends on how you feel comfortable swinging the racquet.
@SomeoneYouKnow2671
@SomeoneYouKnow2671 3 года назад
@@davelee6002 Exactly. A heavy racket allows you to crush the ball while feeling that you hardly did anything. As soon as your muscles (and sometimes technique) adapt, it's almost always the better option. The only downside is that you lose a bit of maneuverability at the net, which might be crucial considering Ian's good net game.
@davelee6002
@davelee6002 3 года назад
@@SomeoneYouKnow2671 yep, volleying is such a big differentiator. But on the serve as welL, which for most people really ought to feature everyone's max racquet head speed, regardless of where they are from 3.5 up, you'll really be testing the limit of how much weight you can ad before it's a detriment. And with a serve and volley game, you absolutely can't compromise on the most important shot in tennis.

Though I really want to get a new racquet if there was one comparable in weight and feel. Just all the racquets now are like feathers compared to my current racquet. My fear is that I'll lose plow through with a feather light.

Demo some racquets with similar weight. It’s possible you won’t like new strings either. Maybe buy used version of yours with old strings on eBay.

@@satjiwan How long does it take to figure out which is the right one? It would probably feel really terrible at first. Not sure if a 1990s racquet is still on the market and in good enough condition but its a possibility I guess.

Hi Ian, congratulations on your new racket(s). I have a couple of Diadem rackets with me here in Japan. Of the two, my favorite is the Elevate 98 FS; the other is a Nova 100 FS. I switched to a Yonex Regna 98 a few months back, but I still play with my Elevate on occasion. Diadem seems to be a solid company. I guess they're currently known better for their strings, which I also enjoyed playing with. This brings me around to a question of curiosity--with what did you string your two demos, and at what tension? Best of luck going forward...
@EssentialTennis
@EssentialTennis 3 года назад
Great to hear you're enjoying them, Walter! Now you can get 15% off your strings 🙂 For this demo I use Luxilon ALU Power 18 gauge strung at 53lbs in both racquets. I'll be doing a full review of Diadem strings soon and choosing one to play with. Stay tuned.

@@EssentialTennis, thanks for the quick reply Ian. I didn't think those looked like Diadem strings. I'm sure you'll be happy with whatever choice you make. Their strings are excellent. Being located in Japan, I can't take advantage of offers in the U.S., but I'm already set anyway. I'll be looking forward to your upcoming posts. Btw, earlier, I read an ET article about "playing in the zone" for lack of a better term. I even commented on it, but now I can't locate it. Was it removed, or am I experiencing a senior moment?

While I am a Diadem user for the past 9 months, I must admit I'm super jealous at you for having the Regna. That's the white whale racquet for me, I think it might be perfect as before Diadem I was a Yonex user and hear only wonderful things about the Regna (other than price). Sadly no chance to play them but kudos to you.

Maybe put some silicone in the handle of the normal Elevate or put on a leather grip. This will give it more static weight and make it more headlight. Then you might get the best of both worlds. I dunno, I'm just brainstorming here.
@GeraldVeeneman
@GeraldVeeneman 3 года назад
I figured out that the Elevate FS 98 has a hybrid pu/leather grip (the Vintage feel hybrid replacement grip) in stock condition that weighs the same as a full leather grip. In order to lower the balance I opened the trapdoor, screwed two screws (8 grams in total) into the foam and placed the trapdoor back again.

1) I understand why a player happy with his game would want an “easy transition” to a new racket, but how do we know a more radical change is not in order? -- 2) ATP pros customize their rackets. Why shouldn’t we? Would you consider putting little lead on both elevates for us to see if you can customize it to something you like better?

The company should have given you unmarked rackets with only A and B marked on them. A blind study. Then you could really decide which racket is for you, instead of comparing the known quantity Tour to your old racket. It's only 3 tenths of an ounce difference unstrung weight, but the balance and flex are slightly different.
