I know people say the whole “just delete your account! Turn off your phone/computer!” And I can see where they’re coming from HOWEVER it isn’t that simple, and also no one should have to delete their account or not use the Internet because of the horrific words and actions of others.

Stalkers don't like it when you find out their identity and begin stalking them. It really freaks them out. They don't find that nearly so much fun.....it really scares them.

It makes me so mad and I feel impotent when I see that authorities don't do much about this. Same thing with people destroying someone's reputation and taking no responsability for any of this. They hide behind the screen and do whatever they please. More laws need to be passed to protect the innocent victims.

The hardest thing for me is the lack of sympathy. I have been told to stop complaining by someone close and told that I was a drama queen by another. It was pointed out people are in worse situations. That hurts because it actually eats away at you. I have had a guy cyber stalk me for three years, two months. I had spoken to him briefly. If only I could turn the clock back. He is high profile, so it would be difficult to prove. I have nightmares about him and now I have others, male and female. I go from anger to despair. It should be treated as a major crime. I am trying to learn to live with it, you can't let them win, you have to try and get on with your life.

It's NOT your fault or anything you did, there should be no shame on your side at all, you are doing all the right things, the police, your friends, people who've been there and what they did. It's horrible and I'm sorry. But hang in there you will get though this and win, and maybe be able to help others with your wisdom.

i have never been through something like that but for over a year ive had someone calling me at night repeatedly at around 3-4 am. not every night, but when he did, he called around 10 times. when i answered the phone i just heard a man breathing into the phone but never saying a word. not knowing who he is and what his motive was made me paranoid. its icky and gross.

So glad Liz investigated many layers and was able to get those important messages going for people who have been stalked ,being stalked and for new laws to hopefully come in to stop these situations before they get out of control ,

I sympathise with those being stalked. I don't use social media because I put down as behaviour. So I would say any social media isn't your councillor, people do put a lot of things on there. If you know anything about psychology in behaviour... I think the social media companies should take responsibility and they don't do enough and its public safety so they should. With these issues the police don't recognise the intent, because its behavioural. My own experience to be helpful. Initially was over text messaging. The police told me I would need more evidence than texts messages and that's what I did I sent one text message back explaining I was serious about taking action and any more contact is being documented. It didn't work, the messages got worse. I changed numbers.

I know how this feels cause I still remember a certain situation that happened to me I just don’t remember who old I was. Like I remember getting them prank calls from someone and I asked them who they were they told me i knew them when I never did so I asked the guy who he was and he actually said to me “id find out soon enough” that at the time didn’t scare me as much cause I just thought it was a prank anyways few weeks later my parents took my brothers and themselves to go for my cousins wedding abroad which was in another country and I can still remember that morning... my sister left the house and went out with her friends and I was completely alone in the house that day and someone started to break my front door obviously we had double locked the door than but cause I didn’t answer they put there hand through my letter box like they ripped it open and put there hand throwing to open the door from inside... few minutes later it went quiet as if they had gone than they came back and started again and also they would horn and scream it was soo scary... since than I been soo anxious to stay home alone it took me a while to get over it every time I heard a car drive up my hill or horn at other drivers it would scare me

I love Atomic Kitten. but this is a scary, documentary, also cannot believe the Bloke got only twenty years for murdering his, Girlfriend since we do not have the death penalty in The UK he should have got life, but I know all about Stalking, the police do not believe you.

The guy whom turned out to be her stalker is a man named robin duke. He also did the exact same thing to 5 other women around the same time. He eventually plead guilty to six charges of harassment and was given three years probation.

I think the ultimate problem is the police need to take stalking more serious, it seems more common that the stalking results in the victims death. I understand the police need “more evidence”, however countless times when faced with the evidence the police do not take it seriously. The end result, the victims death. You can be stalked by anyone, even if you know them they can potentially stalk you and put you in danger. The police need to get involved sooner, because when things escalate they usually do so to the extreme very suddenly and then it’s too late.

Here are a few ideas. Don't use Twitter. Don't read the comments. Don't communicate with anyone directly that you do not know. Hire someone to manage your social media accounts. And of course file a police report.If all else fails, find out who there are and send a couple of friends or family members over to break all their fingers. I guarantee that will stop them.

I was actually friends with Robin and we met up for coffee a few times but I never knew this happened until he told me about 5 years ago and soon as I heard about it I never spoke to him again even though he did send me a message a few years ago

What is it 10 years on now and still amazes me he wasn't named at end of the doc. Had already been convicted and sentenced in court so was on public record. Had also been all over the media, Liz even did an interview on 5 news earlier in the nite where he wasn't just named but his photo went up on screen. See no legal reason for not naming him. My violent ex fiance did this for two months after we split up in August 2013 and then sent me a very abusive email after my brother was killed in August 2015. Ugh how can anyone do this to anyone else do they even consider how this makes us feel as a victim of stalking behavior? No because their small minded and well I don't have any words for what these people are I don't because I know it will not help at all it needs to change though.

im 37 and in Canada. and im dealing with 2 stalkers. both from the USA. its actually terrifying. i have no idea what to do. i have become more private and cut my social media back. but it has been actaully affect my online work. and im always worried they will find me online. or my actual address. it very terrifying.

Happens more times than anyone could possibly know. I have one that likes to post my private stuff on line... can access my medical records and has posted them... has made my life so unbearable i ended up under a psychologist for 10 months with weekly appointments. Mine how ever is not of a sexual nature but more out of an anger and rage that makes police and the investigator believe its very much personal. rather than a stranger. The new malicious communications laws are worse than useless you need to be able to prove to police who it is stalking you and unless you get that info illegally its near on impossible to do... I have got to the stage now were i am openly voicing every mesg this stalker sends and ridiculing the keyboard warrior behind it.

I thought if you were stalked you were physically followed or they turned up at your house. Etc. If someone comments on your posts all the time is that stalking?

I'm have been stalked for many decades. It's affected my life, affecting my life, has hurt my life, immensely affects and hurts my existence, in ways I cannot explain. I Didn't know or realize that for decades that I was being stalked. Now I know, I try to explain, when to who/whom/where, in what setting: I'm told that I'm paranoid or might be. (Ccrazy, am I, I dont believd so, myself), and its all in my mind, I was told. And I've been asked by Medical Professional: if I am hearing Voices, as if I have a Personality disorder- DID, is that what I was being asked, I wondered? Do I want to hurt anyone/other people, I was asked, I should take drugs for PSD, recommended, as maybe my thoughts are not normal. OH, Shit, I should think about that, Scared as what ****? The guy is calculating the thing through, his mind is circling on plans how to target ppl around Liz, like fans. He gets off by the feeling that Liz was unaware of who he was and that he got to touch her and she had no idea. He loves the fact how his message must have made her feel. This gives off clear pathologic tendencies, a personality disorder leaning towards the dark triad. Because it means that he is able to execute and plan, he is rational in his ways but he is morally insane. He has no empathy, he is not capable to sympathize with Liz and stop bc he is making her feel uncomfortable. He wants to make her feel uncomfortable because he gets something out of the feeling of power. Sick.

People who sit behind a computer 🖥 screen are cowards, they would never say these things to your face , they can talk all hard but in reality they are very small and unconfident person, this doesn't excuse the behaviour!

Awareness, sharing the problem, is appropriate it is a community problem, stalkers seem to be like love drug addicts.

Talking about the problem of stalking alone will never ever solve it. What can be done about it is to redefine what freedom of speech legally is. It means that those who are responsible for such outstanding social problems are policy makers and law enforcement authorities, and that whenever such social diseases become wide-spread without being stopped, the governing system and its legal system are getting too old or obsolete to function as expected by the voters in today's ever-changing world. Hence, they must be updated or reformed by the voters, and social movements to sack incompetent politicians to make space for those who can represent the wishes and will of the ordinary people better Strict laws and severe punishments together with more public education in schools, such as creating courses of social behaviour and conduct as a compulsory subject of study for graduation are the only effective measures to take to improve and stop the spread of such social maladies. Whenever any person either uses such abusive and aggressive languages online as threatening to do physical harms, or actually try to do so, they must be given expensive fine tickets, and doing community services, which will provide more funds for re-enforcing law and order to serve public safety, instead of wasting tax-payers' money to deal with such social scums so ineffectively as how the legal system of the UK , and that of the US have been doing for decades
