Elder Holland’s talk totally shifted my mindset about prayer. I live alone and so I’ve shifted my default prayers to speaking vocally. It’s been a game changer. This lesson has reinforced my focus on improving my prayers even if just by 1%.
The last line was my favorite! That we can still find joy in sharing the gospel with others, even if our life is not perfect. Sometimes I feel like a hypocrite, sharing the joy of the gospel with other people when I know I make so many mistakes, but I am grateful for the reminder that we are not expected to be perfect before we can be an example, but maybe our example is that we are trying.
Brother Hilton, your podcasts have blessed my life with new vistas of knowledge and thinking! At the end of each one, I feel as though I've been visited by the good fairy with my "wishes" being granted. Thanks for doing so much good!
The quote from Adam Miller directly correlates to our discussion on grace recently. We can understand that Jesus lived and died for us, that He will come again and be there at the end of our lives much better than we can really grasp that He is here every day with us. And this is through His grace - His enabling and transforming power which we can access daily if we choose to invite him in - Daily! Thank you so much for sharing what I am just really beginning to grasp and helping me put it into words so that I can better apply Amazing Grace in my life! :)
I love the Book of Omni because of what Amaleki says, 25 and 26. An authority at our Stake Conference once said all of the authors in the Book of Mormon are holy men and I said even Omni. He laughed and said yes even Omni.
Thank you, thank you brother John for this beautiful class!! I love them all and what I love the most is that you always give a challenge at the end so we can really put in practice what has been said!! Thank you!!
0:14 I'm rewatch this video and I want all to understand that I pray for others like this ,once I knew that if someone didn't have His help He would not make it like these Drs. we're saying Some things just didn't add up ,and all I could do was just continue to do was pray outloud, and on my stomach and out loud, and I guess I was too loud and my now ex mother in law came in the room and saw ,heard what I was saying In the morning, she was surprised by how I looked relieved, relaxed and ready to get to hospital for the Day With 2 little ones. Yes it was her son ,my husband at the time and father of my children. We all have to understand different ways to prayers. And change the way we pray. I'm greatful to be able to pray and help others to learn about prayers
Sorry about that...it's going to come in the Mosiah 4-6 video! If you just want the image though, you could download the PPT for this class and it's in there.
This was a wonderful and much needed lesson. So many insights came from these short chapters which is a lesson unto itself - don't skip or race through them. Are the hands the same that wrote both the small plates AND the large plates? I don't know that I had even given thought to that before (sadly) but it occurred to me during my studies this week. If not, who generally wrote the large plates through these first years that are overlapped by the small plates?
As far as his family life goes, we know also know that his father was Mormon (see Mormon 1:5) and that he has a son named Moroni. He also had a wife and mother (I wish we knew more about them!) As far as his life goes, we know a lot more from his record of course!
Remission of sin is NOT the same as forgiveness of sin. It appears that Enos was seeking the baptism of fire and the holy ghost, and that is what he sought. I was hoping to hear more about that.
