Hi Melody, I am also a INFJ 152! I am a 1 SO. Everything you’ve said about not completely relating to type 1 as an INFJ is something that I have experienced in a significant way. I have said over and over again that the 1 enneagram description is highly focused on physical and sensory perfection. Which is something that I do not strongly relate to. But I do have a very strong perfectionist streak in moral conduct and behavior. If you haven’t looked into the instinct aspects of the enneagram, I would check that out. A social 1 looks very different than a one to one 1 or a self preservation 1. I think there are quite a few INFJ 1s out there. My understanding is that it is one of the enneagram types INFJs tend to be. I have a lot of theories on why that might be.

Yes, I think it's critical to understand the instinctual variants. Each one is quite different for type 1. See Claudio Naranjo's videos on them, starting with this one: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--5PstIv0MMw.html

Hi Janelle! How cool to hear from another 152 INFJ :D Yes, I totally agree with you regarding the focus being physical and sensory perfectionism, which isn't as relatable for INFJs in general. Yes, I actually have looked in the instinctual variants :D I am an Sx/sp. Thanks for your comment. It was super insightful :)

Please don't judge the Enneagram until you've gotten to know it better. It doesn't cover the same ground as the MBTI, although they both have to do with personality. MBTI is about how you take in information from your internal and external environments, and how you reach conclusions and decisions. The Enneagram is about underlying emotions (Fe and Fi aren't about emotions, but about values and harmony) of anger, shame and fear, and their variations. The Enneagram is about finding your core passion (emotional Achilles heel) and fixation (mental Achilles heel that's stirred up by the passion). It's believed that personal growth, including spiritual growth, is found by resolving the passion and fixation that are the foundations of your Enneagram type. That is why finding your type is more important than finding your tritype, although your Enneagram type will be one of the three types in the tritype. In my experience, the tritype can give a fuller account of your personality (and it might mesh better with your MBTI type), but the piece that's most difficult about it (your core weaknesses) are found in your Enneagram type. It's where you're most vulnerable, deep down, and explains recurring problems. It's not a badge of honor, but it can be where you find your deepest shame.

Hi Melody, I'm an INFJ tested as 1w9 at the quick enneagram test, then i tried the long version and got 5w4. So I guess our results are quite similar:) I haven't tried the tritype test due to lack of interest in too much enneagram, but now I really relate to the 1w9 description

If you'd like to learn more, read Personality Types by Don Riso and Russ Hudson, and Wisdom of the Enneagram. There are many other teachers, each with slightly different approaches, which is why they give different names for the types. Listen to Claudio Naranjo's videos on the instinctual subtypes, starting here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--5PstIv0MMw.html or if you prefer a less technical approach listen to Beatrice Chestnut or read her book. For tritypes, listen to Katherine Fauvre, starting here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YWwaQC35UAE.html. Also Sandra Maitri's interviews are really helpful in learning about the passions and fixations, starting here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-I1KGTRf1wT8.html. Also look at her introduction to the Enneagram, starting here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RACLbkWkbrM.html. Also, Helen Palmer did an interview, here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cd0EahEyWT0.html

INFJ here (professionally typed). In enneagram I think I am a type 9, tritype 954. I think the description for the tritype fits me better than the type 9 description for sure. 😂. I like the idea of motivations and fears for typing.

As an ENTP I always score with either 5 or 8 as my dominant type, with the other one as the second type, 5,8 or 8,5.

I have taken the test a bunch of times and on different sites and ALWAYS come out with a different number. 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 are the ones that tend to be highest each time but it changes so often that the test feels kind of meaningless to me. Whereas with myers briggs, I come out as enfp EVERY time. I'll definitely check out the tritype stuff though as maybe it will make more sense to me. Always love your videos 😊 thanks for sharing 💜

I just took a tritype test for the first time and came out as a 6-4-9 (6w5, 4w3, 9w1) and already the descriptions of this resonate with me so much more! I'll defs be taking a bunch more tritype tests and looking into this a whole lot more. Thank you so much for this video, I always value your views 😊

Hi Abi! This makes me SO happy to hear :D And your journey with Enneagram is so relatable to mine :) Glad you found the Tritype helpful as I did :) Cool to see the results you got. Thank you so much for your kind words and feedback

Though I relate to my enneagram, I definitely find the tritype and subtypes round things out and add to understanding. (INFJ-T, 497 sx/sp)

I'm 469. You remind me a lot of a girl that I used to know so it's interesting to see your self-typing. 125 seems plausible. How do you relate to the three instincts?

You should check out Sleeping at Last’s enneagram project! He is releasing a song for each of the enneagram types. So far the type one song is out, and you can also listen to a podcast on how he created the song.

I think because i'm an enneagram 146 I am odd INFP who can be mistaken as an IXTJ since my Te and Ti is quite developed.

I have a basic understanding of enneagram but don't know it really well. But I've heard that your type will be a little different depending on your MBTI type. I'm an INFJ too and I've had that problem figuring out my Enneagram type (I still don't know what I am exactly lol) because I relate a lot to 1,5,6, and 9 from what I've read about them but I haven't looked into tritypes which sounds a lot more accurate. Thanks for bringing that to my attention!

Your tritype includes your dominant type in each center (body, heart and head), so one of those types is your Enneagram type. Try to figure out which is your dominant center by discovering which is the dominant emotion that underlies your experience: body/anger, heart/shame or sadness, or head/fear or anxiety. So, if your fundamental, underlying emotion is shame, your Enneagram type would be 2, 3 or 4. And so on. I know it takes a lot of introspection to get to the bottom of your experience, but it's worth it.

Where did you learn about the tritypes? I've struggled with enneagram a bit, too. I connect a lot to type 6 but type 2 also hits close to home for me so I wonder if those are parts of my tritype. (I'm an INFP by the way)

Hey Tessa! Found out about it through other friends on Facebook :) Let me send you a link: enneagramuserguide.com/tests/tritype-wing I think that is one site for it, but there may be other tests online :)

You made some very interesting points! I've never been able to connect with my enneagram number either, (I honestly always forget which one I am), but you encouraged me to take the test and I am apparently a 4-5-9. Which is very interesting.
