This video could have been easily 40 minutes long, but I chose not to include a lot of what I wanted to talk about mainly because I dislike this game so much that doing anything related to it is not a good experience for me.
looking at this footage, i truly felt like somehow i got a different game (quest was my version). didn’t experience any of these issues and had a great time. sucks so many others did. i want to see this series continue
It's odd because some people I've talked to have had literally no issues what so ever, others can't even boot the game up. Easily the most inconsistent VR title out right now unfortunately.
@@nuttyak2tapsI had to redo the entire tower mission Four fucking times My quest which i'd played on for the first time literally crashed 3 times and then I had to redo the entire mission and the mission before that because my game did not save.
wow this video said it all. The reason why I stopped playing. Hit the nail right on the head. You can hear it in his voice how disappointed nutty is I feel your pain. The only reason why I'm playing now is because the viewers have asked and I'm hoping to get that spark back again
it's such a shame this is what the game ended up being, I'll bet it was extremely underwhelming putting the game off for an additional year just to see where it ended up.
Play again that stuff has never ever happened to me because when games first come out they havd glitches they're most likely all fixed and if there not get something better to play it on because I only have a qwest 3 and nothing in this vid happens to me
It’s really a shame what happened.. I made so much fan art sketches for this game lol. I still had fun enjoying the story but i had so much in mind I wish that was added to the game. Great video and sad to hear it’s your last. Take care man.
There is a glitch where if you cut off echo's head, it turns into May's entire body. That is literally everything you need to know about the quality of this game.
Watching this a year later, I just played my 2nd run since the initial release and it was horrific. My first time playing there was absolutely nothing wrong, on the second play through however, about a year and a bit later the game felt unplayable. I’d just gotten back from the mission where you get the bolt cutters for sable in bourbon street and the quest tab had 2 missions. One told me to wait for Sonny to contact me, and the other told me to wait for Sable to contact me. About 5 days went by with nothing from both of them so I decided to look to see if other people had the same problem. Turns out it was a big problem for a lot of people. No one had an answer on how to fix it apart from waiting for about 20 in game days. I did just that until I decided to go back to Bourbon Street in the same spot you get the bolt cutters from, and finally Sable contacted me. I might have accidentally skipped dialogue but even then acquiring the bolt cutters should be a trigger in the game files for Sable to contact you. Every part of the game feels rushed and I don’t think that fully has to do with Skydance. I think Meta rushed them to finish the game for the release of the Quest 3 which wasn’t enough time. Despite all the “patches” like you said the game has arguably gotten worse and it feels like skydance doesn’t even care about it. I don’t believe there will be a chapter 3 but if there is I pray they put more effort into making it a playable and enjoyable game, and if they don’t make the chapter 3 it would at least be nice to have a fully patched and functional chapter 2 with minimal bugs.
I knew I had wasted my money when I literally couldent finish the game during the speakeasy mission and never got to see the ending myself. Also just wanna say im really gonna miss this channel as you were actually the one who got me into itr after watching the streams so thank you
I had no issues, the biggest glitch that I found was the Sherriff revolver would become all black randomly. I do wish we got some of that cut content though, all of it sounds cool as hell.
You know, it would have been cool if you did certain footholds and during the tower fight they would have that. For example, if you completed the rampart foothold then some exiles would be able to throw grenades or maybe the more footholds you completed the more exiles that would come and help defeat mama instead of you just being a one man army. This channel was great man, good luck out there and hope you do well.
Yeah a more open world/multiple choice ending would have been cool Kinda like the last game but more Like you can one man army it like the game now or you can gather a few exiles from the streets in a squad (like half life 2) and they will have more equipment and more training the more footholds you completed
6:44 “Then we get a message from the guy everyone has been waiting to see: the pawn king.” You have no idea how much I was hoping you would say Casey. Man I wish Casey was in this game
They probably would've liked to, but given that you can kill him in the first game having him be anything more than a name mention would've been wasted effort unfortunately.
I loved the first s&s game to death and when this game came out i did everything i could to play it. When i tell you i never noticed this many bugs i mean it, i was so blinded to the excitement that i didn't care. Also bring back the napkin eating glitch that shit was funny.
nutty you are the greatest speed runner veteran of the walking dead sns I know and I will never forget you inspired me to go back playing the game you will never ever be forgotten of the walking dead community hope you journey turns out to be a great one. Is so sad that your not doing youtube any more. I watch you every day nutty hope things go according to plan in life for you. R.I.P to the G.O.A.T of TWD game u made my day better every day nutty godspeed(: The king❤
I had a glitch with the Gerick fight where AI Exile allies walk into the boss arena and open the doors for you. If you leave, Gerick follows around The Ward and it was damn intense! I wish it was implemented officially instead of being patched out.
Hopefully Arashi castle of sin doesn’t tank like this game did, it’ll be the closest thing to Ghost of Tsushima vr we get. Also, love the content, and I am glad to have been on this awesome journey with you!
Just finished my first playthrough of retribution on PCVR with valve index. Pretty fun but I definitely agree with some of the grievances here (particularly the copious bugs, bad AI, and poor lighting). Not unplayably bad but certainly missed the mark in more ways than one. Sad to see you go on indefinite hiatus from videos but sounds like it's for good reasons. Cheers!
@nuttyak2taps my pleasure man! Looking forward to trying horde only again in retribution (but not sure if the idea has big legs as many situations have no-horde setpieces)
Sad to see you go dude, you and a few other youtubers were practically carrying the entire non-smooth brain players. Personally I've moved on away from SDI because they don't know what the hell they are doing anymore/meta is ruining them. But it's sad to see a game that practically made the first ideas of vr survival mechanics get completely ruined by a bad sequel, I hope Meta learns from this but I doubt they will.
Yo i appreciate this a lot. I was also having so many problems even after the 10GB UPDATE for just patches. I even thought I was the only one who didn’t have audio for the sonny and daughter gun monologue.
Even after all the “bug fixes” the game is still really glitchy and still broken. Characters change sizes, things jump across the map, your game crashes and still a few more bugs. Also you can literally see the big ending reveal that the tower were behind old town and those big bells by going into the building where it is in the tower map. I think Casey could’ve also played in this part if you didn’t kill him. As a further negative, if you kill Sable and her crew it doesn’t change the game at all, no matter who you kill, except Mama. I feel like these Gerik chases around the map would be good because even after the game when you are collecting the last achievements the Gerik chases would still give a last bit of achievements. Also I did see someone in a game get Gerik to follow you around in the ward so if you know how to do that I would really like to know. The most annoying thing is that at the start, sometimes the key would fling off or the key would just fall with Mama. I hope at-least they will release the chapter 2 DLC soon but I don’t expect it. I am glad that substatica has at least made this game better by importing some guns in the code into save file codes (Burst gun I forgot the name, a Rambo knife, and Lee’s axe. He even added infinite ammo weapons which I enjoyed, so thank you substatica).
Nutty, YOU are easily one of my fav creators to follow. I've probably watched you play both chapters 3 times and loved every challenge you gave yourself. That the game fell so short of your expectations - to the point of hate - is deeply sad, given the love for the first Saints and Sinners. I've tried, but have yet to find a game that pulls me in like TWD...except the glitches in Chapter 2 make me want to throat punch somebody. I hate that I still love this game that keeps disappointing with the developers lack of commitment to fix even the most glaring obvious issues. For instance, zombies aren't supposed to start break dancing upon getting brained. And why does every open door appear to have an existential crisis like the door itself has no idea where it is supposed to lead. All that to say Nutty, you are right and more importantly, you will be missed.
Lucky, my whole game almost crashed in the mission where the bell is ringing the whole night unless you turn it off, when i got to the boat and it was on fire every just stopped and when i turned around it took about 2 minutes before the game started going back to normal, literally fire is what almost made my game crash, i can look at a huge highly detailed fire in blade and sorcery but cant look at a low res fire in twd, thats some bs
my original safe file has a entire crate full of napkins because the game used to have a bug where the single napkins were edible and they would give you the same amounts of benefits as the MRE.
I can confirm as a pico 4 user the chapter 2 really sucks. When I decided to take the sinner ending I tried to decapitate echo and it just turns into a model of May t-posing. I don't even know how's that possible
honestly great note to end this amazing channel on.. video was incredible and sums up everything wrong with this dogshit game. gonna miss the vids man thanks for the bangers and being an inspiration to everyone in the community
I found a glitch the other day that only happened with echo, where sometimes, if he ever wanted to talk to Sable, he would force his lower half through the table he was sitting on, talk to her, then proceed to force himself to sit on the already glitched table
Fighting the Axeman was terrifying and very immersive. When you were on the ground floor. For me, I could just go to the second floor of the warehouse and gerik would spend five minutes walking back and forth between the stairs and some boxes.
It does feel unfinished. But hey, you can always solve this with patches, updates, and free DLC. Mainly a Gerik-focused DLC bc he had so much potential to be a scary menace you needed to look out for when scavenging.
Just beat it on PSVR2 after getting it on discount. Game had so much potential, but definitely feels like DLC2. Im glad you pointed out that Sable clinic scene. First I was interrupted, ambushed and Echo died. I replayed the level and sable gets shot with no reaction from anyone. Almost reloaded the game again. Also thought the elevator was bugged when it didn't open all the way in the tower. Glad it saved right before I still spent over 25 hours playing, and I don't regret it, but without a doubt inexcusable quality
im gonna miss you nutty you inspired me to make content and are the reason i even started youtube and started to play saints and sinners i enjoyed ever piece of content you made saints and sinners based and i wish you the best
i dunno if anybody thought this too or not but for the “calm before the storm” mission i thought tower troops were coming to the bus, with how the mission was explained in game, so i did some stuff for days while placing sticky bombs at a bunch of places around the bus- but i dunno probably just me being dumb tbh
I had a very good time with retribution. I experienced one crash the whole time and my VR had been running for a few hours. I did notice the graphics were a downgrade and some of the characters (mainly echo and sable) would jump around slightly while talking
You posted this 4 days ago every thing in this vid never happens to me and a lot of people like it. Most likely got updates because you know every game has glitches when they first come out🤷♂️
as someone who's been kept in the loop, I can safely say that no legitimate updates have come out for Retribution since the making of this video. that isn't a joke, they've left the game to rot, I've been told by ex employees that they have like 4 people working on the game if that
@@nuttyak2tapsthanks bro i felt dumb for buying only the first game instead of doing the bundle for $20 more, but if it’s still buggy I’m glad I only got the first one one psvr2
I played Retribution on the Quest 2 (waiting for it to release on PSVR1) and beat the game. I was iffy with the ending because I felt like their was missed opportunity, but I liked it. This video then proceeded to show me the true depressing game this is. This game had so much missed opportunity that would have saved it, like saving Sonny and Desiree or the Gerik speakeasy scene etc. Dissapointment. I want to wish you the best. I don't remember when I bumped into your channel, but I'm glad I did. Goodbye Nutty. (goodbye to the channel, im def joining the discord)
Alright I’m back from beating retribution. And honestly, there are some things that I’m disappointed about. 1. I would have like for there to be a chance of Gerik pursuing you throughout some of the areas, they could have made some animation for him killing zombies to get to you. 2. Why did Gerik only appear like 4 times? He was hyped up to be this amazing stalker but we saw so little of him. 3. They really should have put our choices into retribution, kind of annoying how I have 233 days in the first game and my choices are just not there. 4. After defeating Gerik, I was a bit disappointed that I couldn’t take his axe as weapon/trophy. Maybe it could have been unbreakable or something. It would have been nice. 5. The bugs. I’m lucky that I haven’t experienced game breaking bugs. But I did encounter a lot of visual bugs. All in all, Gerik should have had more screen time, They should patch more bugs, and saving The pawn king should have some impact on the game. That’s all I just wanted to rant about Gerik lol.
So gameplay wise it is better than the first game, story wise it is worse? Gerik not being a huge appearance is disappointing, but if the gameplay is overall fine then I might return to the game
the one thing i dont like in the first game that no one talked about is the absence of the reputation system sorta like fallout, were if you do absolute evil things to the tower they will shoot you on sight no matter where you are and if you do good things they might reward you or something like that
so I got retribution about a week ago, and finished it yesterday. for the main story mission where we have to do the exile fetch quest, I couldn't do it. basically what happened was that I played the game, decided to do the rampart grenade launcher quest, failed to save maxwell, thought you could save maxwell with the bolt cutters, reloaded, tried doing the exile fetch quest, gave the posters, accidentally punched the exile in the face, exited the game and took a break. I did a bit of digging since I realized I'd need wire cutters instead of bolt cutters to cut wires, realized maxwell couldn't be saved, re-did the rampart mission (so basically branching out a new run), went back to bourbon st for the mission (in this branched out run), and for some reason, the exile was acting like I just completed the quest. this is my first time meeting patricia in this new run, but she says the dialogue for when you finish the scavenging and come back on another day. she also, apparently, put up the posters, which are still in my inventory even after I finished the whole game. anyways, there's no boxes to put anything, the game won't update the mission, and when I walk away, EVEN THOUGH PATRICIA FINISHED HER DIALOGUE, IT DOES THE "not right now" DIALOGUE AND RESTARTS PATRICIA'S DIALOGUE WHEN I COME BACK so I was fed up and ended up decapitating patricia and hanged her up in the bus :> this effectively ended the sable route, since they never contacted me again (and so I missed out on the tower attack) but I still got the final mission where you confront mama tl;dr, I tried doing the exile mission for sable, accidentally punched patricia (the exile), reloaded back at resting place and decided to do rampart first instead (which branched out my run), went back to the exile mission, got softlocked because patricia thought I was already finishing up the mission in this branched out run, even though it was my first time meeting patricia in this run, missed out on the final sable mission oh yeah, for some reason, the final tower mission for me wasn't nearly as dark yours, it was like the day 1 quest release lighting that you mentioned
Man i was really hoping that gerik would be like an event. Maybe you would hear on channel 47 that the axeman was invading a town and if you go to that map and the axeman sees you he chases you and you have to break line of sight just to get away.
I e only had bugs with father Carter’s mission but other than that it’s just been a bit underwhelming. When the quest 3 gets a graphic update I hope they also fix some other issues people have been having.
W take on a game ruined. Also you were the first Saints and Sinners RU-vidr I have ever watched and the best Saints and Sinners RU-vidr I have ever watch. Congrats on the success you have had on this platform and lots will miss you 🥲
We could have had Gerik activate after some time like the bells but in the night maps. If we spared him we could have had a conversation explaining exactly what happened with May and he would help beat the tower or try to kill us (but no matter what he will live). Then after beating the game he could help defend you from walkers at night. Trade network could have a board with notes to hand to the merchant, you give 3 soda cans for a energy drink, 1 large green box and you get 5-10 ammo boxes of whatever caliber you need
Also your prediction was spot on, nothing after the psvr1 edition which didn't even f*cking include the chosen knife when they literally couldn't buy the game. But gave them a metal disk case and a shitty chainsaw keychain. I was told by a dev that it isn't "lights out" when i asked if ch2's offices were abandoned but they "can't disclosed details" on what they are doing.
What's weird about killing sable is that once you finish the last pawn king mission, the last tower mission just starts even though the Tourist didn't know anything about Mama being insane.
If you played the game on day 1 then you probably experienced fewer problems than if you played today, but yeah this game seems to have some weird beginner's luck aura around it.
I bought the ultimate editions for both of the games, and I've actually never experienced any game breaking bugs except some of the earlier PC bugs at launch, and i've been having a blast with the game. (I'm about half way through the second one)
I've since made it to day 71, and mkst glitches that you mentioned I never featured whatsoever. Im glad that I usually never have issues with my quest games.
I think the reason why they had to die down the walker count is because for quest users because if you were to add like 50 or maybe even 100 walkers the game would probably just lag constantly until you actually do manage to get rid of them
I got the quest 2 version of retribution I knew something was up when the save importing system was weird keep in mind the telltale games it was one button to import your save but in SS CH2 you have to memorize a whole code after that I enjoyed the story but the bugs were so terrible and the graphics were so downgraded that it was unplayable after beating the story I gave up after learning that it is literally impossible to obtain certain crafting recipes if you imported a save keep in mind I played it over a year after it released and they still haven’t fixed the glitch today so it is literally impossible to 100% the game without starting on a completely fresh save file with nothing
Loved the first one. It's on my all-time top ten list. I'm not into VR beyond the used PSVR I got for $80, so finding out the sequel was coming to PS4 was the best gaming-related Christmas present I could have asked for. While there are tons of glitches, tons of problems (the lighting on PS4 is horrible), and many disappointments, I still had fun. I wish I could play it on PCVR and use the God phone, but oh well. Why can't the devs make things like that? They could make hundreds of different skins with the same basic properties. An ice axe is basically the same as the crowbar. A machete is the same as a cleaver. An AK-47 is the same as the AR-16. If I ever go back it will be to the original/trial, unless there's an update/DLC for Retribution.
I didnt really get many issues people complained about but I still feel disappointed for one reason that wasnt even a bug, the game feels like an expansion to the first game that got turned into a new game. We only got a few new weapons, 3 new areas and a new story that probably couldve just been DLC even for VR standards
19:57 and by the way, the trade net work is worth doing you get ammo a new bow you get a lot of stuff, so the trade net work is worth doing don’t be pouring that the trade net work is a good thing to do at the end
@@stephencraig2994 this is a dlc, also this "game" is definitely worse than the original (kind of unrelated to what I said but whatever, I can't understand what you're saying as well lol)
Personally when it came out i enjoyed it i only had w bugs echo was in the table in the reserve until put into a chair and also talking to npcs just randomly stop if a zombie comes in somehow or if I accidentally walk a little away then wont start again until i leave the room but its still pretty fun especially bc of the weapons
He personally, I planned the quest version and he said that out on the last stand how do all the exiles know I had to go through a omission doing one of the exiles missions and then sable gave me a ton of fliers to give to this random girl after completing a mission and then you can move on with a story and it's like the middle of the story that's how you hit the bolt cutters which I think they also added. I'm pretty sure I don't know.
Gerrick reminds me alot of Adam Smasher from cyberpunk: 2077. Both were overhyped beasts that would pose a serious threat to the player but amounted to nothing but some cameos and a single boss fight. I think any game that does this form of marketing is (sky)bound for failure.
it's taken several months to get to 73k views on this video. and your comment is even funnier because I've posted more videos after this and they've gotten shit for views. ironic how everyone tells me to keep going, yet no one actually supports the journey
I remember being obsessed with this game until I unlocked the Eradicatior zombies on the PC quest version that just spawned invisible for some reason and I kept dying on the same mission, and I haven’t played the game since
y'know,, i clicked on the video the try and argue in the comments that the game was actually really good. but you made so many good points there is no reason to argue against you. The game is shit and you opened my eyes to that
for some people the game is really good, and others not so much. It's really just unfortunate all around, a lot of bad things about this game most players likely will never notice until a second or third playthrough, but it goes far beyond just that
@@nuttyak2tapsI think the reason why some people like it is because it has actual gameplay unlike Job simulator where it was more of a "grab something and do something with it" sim.
yeah I used that video for a template and tried to not make it look obvious but just said fuck it at the end I wanted to finish this video so badly that I couldn't have cared less
I agree they should've made the view of the city match the map better. But complaining about graphics there is a moot point, VR systems can't handle better looking cities than that. Just look at comparable games like Iron Man VR or the Spider-Man VR games and the cities are the exact same. Also Retribution has recepies and secrets to find post-game just like the 1st did in addition to the Trade Network stuff. The Trial is also still in the game, just now its part of the actual raft travel for some reason.
That is very true, the graphics were really just a nitpick to add more to the video. Personally, I really don't care that it looks that way. There are some things to do post credits, but for the most part it's go here, grab this, come back, and 90% of the time it's an obscure item that you have to find naturally which is intended to keep the player with a task without actually making anything new. If by the Trial being part of the raft system, you mean overrun places, that's not the same, although I can see why they took it out as it likely would crash the game completely.
@@nuttyak2taps I thought “overrun” was their version of the trial this game. There’s a tip on the loading screen which encourages players to search locations “during the trial”. And how is the post game content different from chapter 1? All I remember doing in chapter 1 after the story was getting the statues, trophies, crafting instructions, etc. Same as in this game. It’s fair enough to say postgame is boring but I wouldn’t say it’s any different from chapter 1
Nah, the Trial is a standalone game mode separate from the main story, the loading screen tips are 100% left over bits that either weren't supposed to be seen, or were supposed to be there because the Trial was supposed to be in the game. They scrapped a LOT of content in the game. To be fair, Chapter 1's post game is pretty much the same as you say, I think we were just expecting something new. The gameplay loop itself is pretty boring once you know how everything works, not that I can really fault them for that but in Chapter 2 not much was added to spice that up. No doubt they wanted to add a ton of new stuff as proven by the concept art, but they were forced to release the product way too early and as such all this ended up happening.
I am being 100% serious, I didn't know it was a sequel, I thought it was a DLC for the first game, even now i just found out because of this video and I loved the first game.
If you watch the intro of walking dead 2 where they wipe out some people you can actually see barns and sable shooting them while *ECHO* running with the same *HAT*
The first game is an one of my all time favourite games across all platforms. This second game was a so disappointing. The constant glitches and tech issues just killed the immersion for me and I felt like I was just waiting for the next crash, I'd go to an area to do a mission loot everything then get back to the skiff and the game would crash so i'd have to do it all again. It didnt feel like a true sequel either, 2 new areas just isn't enough.
