That Orlov deal is the biggest head scratcher. Orlov had a horrendous first half where he had one of the worst goal differentials in the league. One of the worst contracts we have ever seen in recent history and worst way to spend your cap when you are Carolina. Killorn was horrendous too given his age and production. Anaheim could’ve easily waited one more year when better free agents were available. No idea what these managers are doing.
dawg orlov was not that bad lmao especially in the latter half of the season. it’s kinda crazy to call this one of the worst contracts in recent history when it’s literally a 2 year deal 😭
I wouldn't say one of the worst ever just because it was only 2 years, but it was crazy for the best defensive team in the NHL to sign that deal instead of an impact forward.
@@MikeBartneronce kuzentzov came into the lineup, Orlov took off and was honestly one of our best defensemen in the playoffs. Personally I think he should be in the first pair and switch with burns but he’ll definitely have better numbers this season
@@MikeBartnerit’s definitely up there. Paying a guy close to 8m to play on the third pair should be fireable. If you are Carolina and have to make a big splash to bring you over the hump to win the cup that’s the last thing you should be doing. Like you said an impact forward would have done wonders, just look at what Guentzel did for them. Just an all around bad decision.
