Like philosophy teaches you to recognize fake news and how to debate properly and you dont think the world would be a better place if most politicians learned better logic and debating skills? Psychology teaches you about human nature and i learned a lot of practical stuff towards friendships, relationships, dating advice, how women think and why they are the way they are and how to deal with mental health like anxiety and depression. And health science has a lot of practical stuff for nutrition, dieting, weight loss, medicine, how illnesses work and vaccines work, and how to reduce disease and live longer healthier lives. Everything can be practical if you use it in the right environment.

It's not what toxic is. But it's trendy for everyone to say that they have a toxic workplace. I think what's happening here is what happens to a lot of college students. They're used to a fun college experience and then they get in the real world and it's a news flash that suddenly the real world is not all fun and footloose. Work is work. You start to understand why your parents came home at the end of the day from work and we're tired and worn out. It's because work is work.

I don’t think it’s lazy. I think colleges spoil people - they think a meaningful exciting feeling of bonding is going going to be laid out for them at work like in college, and the fact is a job is for making money. People have lives, they have things to do - most adults aren’t trying to be everyone’s best friends at work and make small talk every day. It’s unsustainable and people like this become confused as to why work is so dry compared to college and I think it induces an existential crisis during the transition to reality.

This reminds me of Simon Sinek's "millennials in the workplace" even though she's probably Gen Y or even Z. As Gen Xer I just can't understand all this need for emotional support at work. It's a J-O-B and it pays the bills. Get over yourself, Sister.

Dear workers, If you have this same situation, just remind yourself you are not there to make any friends, just work, fulfill your duties and collect your paycheck. Making friend and being comfy can catch you off guard when they let you go. No, work shouldn't be stressful nor toxic, but you need to keep in mind you are their to accomplish your goal of making a living and fulfilling your calling (if that's your calling)

@scottcped
@scottcped 3 года назад
@@genxx2724 If she can do ANYTHING proactively, she needs to have a personal come to Jesus moment. She needs to humble herself step back look at all that she has and be grateful for it. Unfortunately, from observation of others, AND from personal experience, it is more likely she will continue to be ungrateful, have a bad attitude, and as such her choices will lead down a dark path. At some point the reality of LIFE will force her to a crossroads where she will be laid bare and have to choose bitterness and destruction or gratitude and prosperity.... Hint: When I was at that crossroads, I chose gratitude.... After choosing to continue living. I admit my wording above is a bit melodramatic. And it accurately describes my experience in '09-10. When I was homeless and so broke that I was living rent free above a friend's garage. I couldn't even pay my life insurance premiums, which was the ONLY reason I chose life. My kids would've been left with nothing. At that point I got my nose in the Bible, recommitted my life to Jesus, saw all the good things in my life. Along with the potential, and the long walk home started.

Celeste, I don’t necessarily think you should stick it out at this job. We didn’t hear enough details about your story to come to a conclusion. If there is something about the job that’s overwhelming you and causing you to be unable to complete your degree, it may be worth it to quit and focus on your education especially since you can afford it yourself. There are a lot of other aspects to your life that we didn’t hear about in the 60 seconds you had on the air. If you are burnt out in life, sometimes a short season of rest is all you need. God can show up in powerful ways when we’re waiting and watching.
