People who donate experience and information are just as generous as those who donate to charity or the needy. This is one of the mushroom cultivation "treasure channels" that gives much and demands nothing but the time spent learning in return. Thank you for this and every other video you've shared inspiring aspiring mycologists o/
yo Gary, what’s up with discount code for master LC lids? I watch your videos, religiously and over and over and over again whenever I need a reference, but I find a whole world of useful information from you and your company I appreciate all your hard work. I appreciate you putting this information out there for all of us to view and learn from I appreciate 🫵Thank you.🥰
thanks! I don’t know of a code for the lids but I have some listed on ETSY and our ETSY code is FungiFam303 for $20 off any order over $120 etsy.com/shop/freshfungi 🍄❤️
@mybigsteaminjohn4027 why? Isn't that what the fungi thrives on? That's why it grows in dung, it's the grain the animal was eating that supplies the food source.. or am I wrong? No. Doesn't answer a fucking thing, much less the original question.. now if you're nothing but a douche, well that's easy to see now.
Very informative and detailed breakdown. Your passion for this subject is really evident in your explanations. I appreciate how you took the time to walk us through the different types of lids and their respective benefits. Mush love! EDIT: The tubing inner diameter is 1/4" and the outer diameter is 3/8" (for the master LC lids)
Same... I was searching everywhere for the purpose of the syringe filters and nobody talked about it. So I would ask in the comments and nobody would give an explanation. Found this channel and this guy has already answered 3 of my questions in 2 videos.
How do you keep the end of the piping sterile? Especially if you cap it off with a syringe or leur lock cap wouldn't any lc remain in the end section? Wouldn't it be preferrable for it to run back into the jar? Thanks.
@ 10:23 That obnoxious bend in the tubing ends in the middle of the jar so you'd essentially only be able to draw half of your LC through the tubing. You could get the last half with a syringe but that defies the whole point of using the tubing imo
I've had a culture of Nepal chitwan that made it in room temperature for two years so in the fridge it should be fine for at least longer than 3 months
@@louisw5858 it's taking a s syringe and sucking some mycelium out of one liquid culture and then innoculating another jar of fresh liquid culture such as honey water or corn syrup water with the syringe.
The one with the clamp...doesn't solution get stuck between the clamp and the tip where you insert the syringe, and then spill out when you pull the syringe off?
Excellent content, as usual. Have you got an update on the morcella garden? Also, which glass pint or quart jars work best with the magnetic stirrer? I bought a case from my local garden center and they have a fairly exaggerated concaved bottom which sucks because I basically used all my culture on them to learn that the magnetic stirrer will not work with them
GARY!!! josh here (again) in Colorado springs.. you helped me find my flowhood (modular cleanrooms) and you were gonna come to my lab for some consulting.. Quick question for ya gary.. i have a tea business and i want to get on amazon but im not sure what app to use for my product thumbnails.. all of your thumbnails always look so awesome.. any advice on what apps to use? thanks again man.. ive been a subscriber and admirer of you for a few years now..i was subscriber 4,000 ish and im always sending my friends to your Etsy for gourmet strains etc..
thanks for following along! I just used microsoft word and imovie with my iphone - keep it simple and easy! 🙏🏻 I have an Imac for video editing and my macbook for all the thumbnails, titles etc. People on Fiverr helped me a lot in the beginning and then it took a lot of practice to get honed in. Some of my earlier ones are still up and quite different then the style now - MUSHLOVE
Love the vid! Unrelated question but do you have any thoughts, opinions or any hot-takes on why Paul Stamets wouldn't comment on the portabelo mushroom industry in his latest apearence on JRE ? Personally I I think he contains a dogwistle in his response for myco nerds saying in passing "its a very explose issue" from my very limited research I think its because portabellos contain a compound 'ageritine' which, apart from being carcinogenic can be used as an ingredient to make 💥?!? Pauls response to joe was really weird and exeptionally jarring. I also just cant believe that the gormet mushroom industry has 😴r agents ready to take someone out just at the mere mention of the potential issue but then again maybe im blissfully naive 🤷♀️ As i say i havent done a lot of research but though I would ask yourself as you're wayyyy more clued up on this whole sphere on knowledge than myself lol 😆 so yeah... TL;DR : Why are portabello mushrooms bad Gary ?
I bought some growing kits, spore prints, spawns, liquid culture and psychedelic products from an online supplier and they are affordable and discreetly delivered
I make my own. And for my lids. One 5/32 and one 7/16 drill bits are perfect sizes for my filter and injection ports. No adhesive, just a very tight press in seal. I just pull out the filter and SHIP when I think they need replaced. It's so easy to do It doesn't feel right selling them.
Loved the video! This will help step up my liquid cultures. Thank you so much for all the content, it's become my after work ritual to learn from your videos.
Hey. I had a question about the advanced lid with the clip to prevent back flow. 1. How do you extract a full syringe of LC when there is air in the tube? When I try it only fills about 4cc 2. When you snap the clip to close the tubing, how do you expel the liquid in between the syringe and clip to prevent air in the system and prepare for subsequent LC extractions? Thanks!
you can either ad a backflow preventer or just keep the hose kinked between syringes. Also, I will leave the last syringe in use on the end as a “label” and as a cap to keep air from entering the system. Things have calmed down a bit here I want to make a recap video soon
I would love to see I recapping vid. I bought the master Lc lids and gave the jar with the lid bacteria. Im not sure where I’m the process I mess up but I’m sure it’s user error on my end.
Thanks I needed this. My idea (what I'm presently using) of the early days is the original jar lids I modified with hobby lobby felt and silicone. I'm assuming all of the components of these lids are vulcanized right?
The problem with putting a syringe on immediately after inoculation is that the majority of the syringe is exposed to open air until you decide to take your first sample.
