I have never been sure as how to feel about the massive out of nowhere exposition dump at the end there, like they felt they needed to explain the why of the Fallen Lords (though of course they never bothered filling in the massive holes between the games) for some reason and decided to just do it all at the end. Either way still a great game and I'm glad I managed to get back to it this year as well. I'm pretty on the fence however as to whether I will watch Myth 3 as it's a far cry from it's predecessors but still an okay game despite being HELLISHLY buggy.
I don't think many people played the game for the story but it is enough to keep you intrigued. I hear ya with Myth 3. Some if the missions we're very painful. I got a bunch of plugins I have uploaded and I am considering streaming some plugins like once a week or something. We will see what happens with that.
I play stuff for the story, that’s why I don’t bother with „legendary“ difficulty, just don’t have the attention span to get that good. Pausing the game for the controls is genius, but really breaks immersion.
Everyone likes to play a little different. Depends whether you want to do a bunch of actions as fast as possible or have time to casually give your orders. Each have pros/cons.
It's a bit strange that this mission that's all about rushing to prevent Soulblighter from blowing up a volcano.... Isn't a timed mission at all it seems. Nice work on this entire walkthrough. Got so see the missions I didn't as a kid, and actually understand the lore. Then you managed to do all of this without a single death.* * Cutscene deaths and converted enemy deaths are excepted.
Glad you enjoyed it! I got some Myth 2 plugins and Chimera if you are interested. Also I am working on a Warcraft 3 playthrough but I am still practicing my commentary. Also you can catch me live sometime. Well anyways have a good one!
Great ! :) Am watching the Chimera one now. Strange : I had it as a kid, but never got very far. As for Myth 3, I'm looking forward to getting to it, though a little trepidacious... I played it quite a bit on my shitty, laggy computer back in the day (never beat it), and liked it, but assumed that the problems probably came from my computer. We'll see how it holds up in your playthrough... Hope I won't be too disappointed, though even back in the day my Myth friends never seemed to like it.
I noticed in another comment you talking about bugs. I remember I basically had to cheat (I think, or at least get very very lucky, or put it on easy) in the level where you were supposed to provoke an Ogre rebellion. I just kept fucking converting them but nothing was working...
Well I think some of the Chimera missions are not meant to be played solo on legendary so you will see me struggling on some of them. I had to look up what trepidacious meant haha. Myth 3 is nothing compared to Myth 1 and 2 and has more glitches so it might of been more then just your computer. Despite the glitches it doesn't feel like a poorly design game other then the level design which is where I noticed the biggest disparities. I would imagine watching a playthrough would be more entertaining when you don't have to deal with the nuisances yourself.
Not going to lie, not my favorite playthrough on this level. I don't think you utilized Alric's Dispersal Dreams well at all. I think you made it harder than needed to be. But overall good job. Look forward to seeing those plugins. Thanks for the feelings of nostalgia.
Is it difficult to get this game and TFL up and running on modern computers with windows 11? Thanks for the playthrough, btw. It was a treat to go down memory lane.
Pity you didn't show (/didn't get?) the end of mission screen showing the ridiculous number of kills those dwarves surely had at the end of the campaign...
It has been a while but I think the game doesn't show the final win/loss screen. I have my original video on an external hard drive 3000 miles a way so maybe I can double check one day ;)
Yes Balor was supposed to usher in the age of dark but he failed, which is the first time that has happened since the cycle started. In the epilogue they are merely saying that Soulblighter was trying to force the cycle even though it had been broken and he wasn't the leveler.
Look at the end of the mission Twice Born again. Before Soulblighter makes a run for it you can see his sword break. The game really doesnt explain why it broke. A spell by Soulblighter perhaps?
