I love this set. I rode it in 1975 from NYC Penn Station to Boston as the "Yankee Clipper" in the Dome lounge. Lots of fun. Paticulairly thru the East river tunnel and over the Hell Gate Bridge.. Great memoiries All for $14.50. US One way! Thank you!
Great entertainment, great products, extreme attention to detail. That’s what sets you’re products apart from other manufacturers. Love what you’re doing...
Jason, You guys rock at Rapido Trains and crazy funny or is it, you don't have to be crazy to work at Rapido trains, but it helps? (ha ha ha). Simply love the new Amtrak turbo train, great work guys. Continue keeping the videos lite, but informative. Two thumbs up for the entire Rapido Trains crew. Cheers, Rich S.
Congratulation!. To Mr. Dan Darnell for the hand painted of the models of UAC Turbotrain. The Turbo has a icon for the canadian model railroaders and railfan, but no have continued. The other avanced in the light and fast train in Canada the VIA LRC too. The only light train in the world that from seventy year a go and her confiable tecnology and avances is the spanish Talgo. Every day the Talgo 102-112 series run in Spain at 300 km/h between various great cities.
You should should do another run of Ho VIA turbo trains, I’ve got a pre-order of your VIA mid train dome cars and I’m dying for a VIA turbo train but working at Walgreens I can never afford one... 😢
Speaking of Turboliners. You should do the RTL Turboliner in HO. Hopefully Amtrak will restore the last set they’ve got so you can record the sounds from it.
I know for a fact that there are several stores that ordered extra for stock. If you have trouble finding one, send us an email and we can help you. rapidotrains.com/contact-us/
Just out of curiosity, where did you get the sounds for this? Was there some kind of comprehensive recording made of the Turbo sounds before the were all scrapped, or did you guys manage to cobble it together out of different historical videos? Either way, fantastic job on this. If you ever do a Rohr Turboliner in HO I will sell half my other models and buy about 8 of them!
Thankfully, a CN employee, Bill Morrison, took extensive Beta footage of the train in 1982. It took about three months to recreate the sounds from that. -Jason
looks cool! I hope you make a turboliner because my friend would be very happy.............. and I can use it too lol. but please reveal some NJT stuff your gonna make
I like the Turbotrain a lot more than the Turboliner. It should have been promoted a lot better by Amtrak on its Boston-New York City run, and it should have had a Boston-Rensalaer/Albany,NY run and also a New York City-Rensselaer/Albany run, a Chicago-Indianapolis-Cincinnati, Chicago-Detroit, & Chicago-Milwaukee-Green Bay run as well.
Something I've noticed from pictures is some of the REAL units have the red and white gyralights swapped, some red on the left and some red on the right etc
The licences from Patentes Talgo, S.A. the Spanish constructor of the Talgo (Tren Articulado Ligero Goicoechea Oriol) trains, currently has the english group Hornby Hobbies International. He inherited them-renewed after the sale if the Spanish brand Electrotren, S.A. by the founding family if this railway modeling company to Hornby. The models of Talgo Hotel DB InterCityNight~NachZug in ~H0~ and ~N~ marketed by the Germán group Märklín-Trix-Minitrix, the were entristece to Electrotren and then to Hornby who own the licenses and the molds. Although these patents licenses from Patentes Talgo, S.A. they are not perpetual, they have a validity time, like those granted by any other company on about your intelectual property, corporate image, etc, etc... I doubt that Rapido Trains is decided to reproduce the Talgo Amtrak Cascades, although you never know. I want it also in N scale.
Wonderful model. The problem id so limited and its high price, for some modest railway modeller, as is my case. Linked to the difficulty of acquiring It in Europe. In some store specialized in north american models trains of Germany, it will be probable to be able to buy it, in Spain It is unthinkable. Buying products of certain value outside the EU don't mean that when you receive the tariffs and VAT imposed by the national treasury at customs, eliminated any possible savings in your purchase.
Conrail shared assets guy Productions , if they want to get measurements from a real one, there's half a Turboliner sitting in southern Indiana, one power car and two coaches
