How to sort that 1. Masterbattion releases more stress. 2. Try to wear gloves or get a nail brush. 3. Keep your fingers busy and don't look at them. No attention is better than remembering that you have nails.

instead of biting my nails i kinda pick at it and peel them or rip them off, which gives me the same results as biting them. but i’ve recently been trying to stop because i was tired of the way my hands and nails looked. now my nails are pretty long for me and are very healthy

If you’re bored chew gum to keep your mouth busy. Every time u think about biting them just try to think about how pretty they would look in 1-2 weeks. I sometimes bite my nails but it usually takes them around 1 week to grow a little and after 2 weeks they look alright, after a month they look fantastic and ready to be painted. So just try to think about how many compliments u would get if u had pretty/long nails. If u are known for having short nails when people will see ur long nails they will be very surprised and happy for u. Here’s some tips: When u go somewhere always make sure to put on anti-biting nail polish - they’re usually in pharmacies but if u can’t find one in the pharmacy/ies u have been to - them I suggest putting deodorant or perfume (if u have one that u don’t use) (or just buy a cheap perfume) I suggest putting deodorant or perfume on them so every time u try to bite them they’ll taste weird. It says that there's a chance that your nails may never grow back... I will never know because I always bite them before they have a chance to grow back
I used to bite my nails... A LOT. I stopped by buying those fake nails and gluing them on my nails so that I can’t bite them. Another way is to put on gel nails (if u know what I mean) it’ll taste bad when u bite them. That’s how I stopped biting my nails and it worked very well. My nails are now naturally long :) hope this helped
I stopped biting my nails two years ago. I have anxiety disorder and it was really hard to stop, but I really wanted to stop. My mom’s glad I stopped too XD.
I'm 23 now and have had anxiety disorders since i was in elementary, and i can say from experience that when you get older anxiety levels do go up do to bills, jobs, and just life in general. unless you go to therapy for it.

FACT #4 Nail biters are more likely to grind their teeth which can lead to fracturing, loosening or loss of teeth. FACT #5 Your fingertips can turn into a "pus bath." Basically, staph bacteria can work its way into small sores and cause pus buildup. FACT #6 In some cases, nail bitting can lead to oral STis.
Same I just told myself not to do it and I kind of just grew out of it and stopped after a while of constantly keeping my hands away from my face or sitting on them. It honestly pretty much happened in like a week and I didn’t even notice I stopped 🤷♀️
I used to bite my nails but then I got braces so I was unable to bite my nails so I started chewing gum instead ( You can chew Trident gum with braces ) and now I'm addicted to gum.
Braces really do get in the way! I unfortunately still bit them when I had braces :( But I completely quit biting and 2016 and they look SO good! Gum is less detrimental to health I think haha

i think it’s because most people who cut their nails know not to trim them too short. whereas nail biters keep going past the edge and they make their nail beds shorter.
Its so hard to stop because I just do it without noticing it and when I realise it, its too late and i'm halfway into it. And it bugs the absolute crapnugs out of me when its half broken
When I was young (like 10 and under), I used to bite nails constantly. My parents could not get me to stop until one day my dad promised me money for every nail that grew to a certain length. I sat on my nails when I was tempted to bite them. I never bit them again, ever! I'm much older now with nice long nails.
I used to bite my nails all the time. It got to the point where I’d bite them so short they’d often bleed. Even when I used nail polish I bit through it. So, what actually made me stop was seeing the skin around my nails get all dry and starting to peel (I’m guessing from the saliva in my mouth). I didn’t like how it looked and it stung in the ocean, when I was in the shower etc. I believe in you guys, habits are hard to break but it feels so good once you have! ❤️
I stopped biting my nails about 2-3 years ago and its honestly great that I did cause I would bite them to where they would get sore and now I grow mine out and file them into an almond shape. Best way to stop yourself from biting your fingers is constantly painting them, biting the skin around your nails instead of your nails, and try putting a polish that tastes nasty when you try and bite it. Its a nasty habit but i'm so glad I got over it.
they don't grow back trust me. i am 12 and i bite them from when i was like 8. i stopped now and I'm trying to make them grow. it's horrible they stop at a point and don't grow anymore

My 11 year old sister has this habit, and nothing can make her stop even that gross tasting nail product you put on your nails didn't stop her biting and I've told her gross facts but that didn't work either.
Cheshire Cat oh that nail biting solution, that is horrible, I stopped using it because i had to eat my crisps with a spoon! I ended up not putting anything thing in my mouth then I stopped because I wanted pizza still every Friday
I broke my arm and had it plastered to the top when I was 10 and my nails grew so long and pretty on that hand so I stopped (not recommend though but it worked haha!)
My nail biting habit is pretty bad... I used to bite until it hurt and even then I couldn't give up. I also chewed my skin around the fingernails. Right now I want to quit this habit, actually a thing I want to stop doing by next year and so far I've gone 2 weeks without it :)
You can do it! I never thought I'd be able to stop, as I had been biting for as long as I could remember, but I managed to stop. I used to bite them until they bled and stung. Every year, my New Year's resolution would be to stop biting, so last year I decided that instead of _telling_ myself to stop, I just would. I told myself "I'm done. I quit." And surprisingly that worked! Anytime I felt the urge to bite, I reminded myself that I had stopped, and eventually the urge went away. Now I have nice nails and I don't want to bite. I'll be honest, I'm really proud of myself for stopping.
I've never had many problems and I rarely get sick , I actually think I've strengthened my immune system by being a nail biter for 40 years. My teeth have suffered some and I did grind them for a few years but that's it.
Christine Swain LOL I was thinking the same thing about my immune system. Us nail biters have probably made our immune systems super strong from all the germs we've been consuming. I've also heard, "It's just a phase, you'll stop when you're older," I doubt it; I'm 33 and been doing it all of my life.

Azaur Actually, cold water makes it harder for bacteria to multiply on your hands and kills their habitat essentially. It makes it too cold for them to survive
