I try and explain to everyone those same points! There is a reason these shops are able to charge a cheap price, because they cut corners and buy cheap or illegal products.
It's so important to do your research beforehand and make sure you watch your surroundings. After that, you should definitely find the best place for you and relax and enjoy! :)
Loving seeing a fellow Nail Tech speaking on these topics and others. My biz partner and I started a weekly video cast just to help other nail techs! Love, love, LOVE seeing this channel! Keep it up!
RE Pedicures: glad you mentioned shaving, I did shave before pedicure and ended up with horrible rash/infection on legs that lasted over a year and multiple dr visits. Only cured with heavy duty antibiotics. I have never gotten a salon pedi since, I only do my own now.
I would love to see you do a video on how you properly sanitize your pedi-bowls. I went to cosmo school over 15 years ago, did hair for awhile but I strictly do nails now. Back then we didn't have the jet type pedicures. We used sink type or plastic portable type bowls.
I would love to do an in depth video on that, but I'm not working in a salon with one of those chairs to show you guys. I could include a talk thru all about it in a future video if that would still be helpful??
The salon that i have went too , they just put the implements back into the foot bowl and that’s their way of washing them or sanitizing them. A lot of people don’t pay attention to these things but are surprised when they get fungus or infections
As a client I never give a damn about my hairy legs and I know you're not supposed to shave them before going to the salon. Also why would a nail tech give a shit about your hairy legs 😂 a lot of women are really insecure about the dumbest shit 😂
But believe they use that is illegal when they scrape the dead skin off your feet. Just wondering why most salon still use that when it's illegal and banned
Yes, absolutely it would! Thank you. I intend to booth rent eventually but been out of the salon for a couple years since my 3rd child now so I'll probably need to put my time in somewhere for awhile first. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
Its better to do nail art starting to do work on clients nails on parlour not nail salon because nail art has no scope in pak yet thats why am asking u plz guide me honestly or should i start frm home?and i have not license so is it more preferable ?
Hi there I just found your channel! I was in cosmetology school and am in the process of switching to nail tech only I love nails!:) have a few questions! How old are you? You mentioned before that you only like to work with natural nails, is it possible to work in a salon/spa only on natural nails if that is what you prefer? Is starting your own traveling nail business difficult financially? Like do you have to jump through a lot of hoops legally to start your own business and if so how do you go about doing so? Can you support yourself financially in the nail industry alone (your personal business and salon experience)? These are some of the big questions I have as I begin my journey as a nail tech, these videos are great! Just subscribed!:)
+Kayla Russell Hi Kayla! Thank you so much for subscribing! I will definitely add all of your questions in the q&a video I'm filming next. Hopefully I can help! :)
It’s kind of sad that you keep mentioning people who don’t speak your language.. it seems like you are assuming because they’re not as proficient in English, they shouldn’t be trusted and they don’t care about health standards. My mom owns a nail salon and they put sanitation and customer health as the number one priority even though she has an accent and some of her workers can’t speak English well.
I can see how that comment came off that way, but its not at all what I mean. I'm just speaking from my personal experience in the industry. There's been countless times when I'm unable to communicate with a nail tech on what I want, concerns with my nails, or potential allergies I may have. That puts the client at risk for sure. If you're able to get all of that across to them, then you're good! :)
I was thinking about getting my nails done but I have no idea where to start. I don't want to go in clueless and frustrate the nail tech. Could you possibly make a video on a how to for beginners or something like that
Great video, thanks for sharing those tips with us! Questions: -If you could go back to school for any field of study, what would you take? -How often do you recommend getting mani/pedis for the health and up keep of natural nails? -what are your RU-vid/blog goals? You don't have to answer all of these, they are just ideas. Thanks!
I've never personally used them, so I'm not really sure exactly how it works. But it doesn't seem to be completely safe because of the reasons you mentioned. I prefer using a pedicure station that doesn't have jets, along with hard plastic inserts that are removed after each client :)
I got a pedicure and omg my nail fell off after a few months! I feel so stupid because I knew they didn't clean it right! just like you said wipe and fill it up for the next person.. now my nail has taken for ever to grow back
I'm so sorry that happened to you!! It's terrible that so many salons take advantage of customers who don't know any better. That's why I make these videos to spread the word
Can i bring my own equipment to the nail place? And can i bring my own nail art? I know a lot of places may not have the color rhinestones i want or that shiny nail tape stuff.
Awesome video !! I'm a fairly new nail tech in Canada (Alberta) and we have an unregulated beauty industry here. The "chop shops" are on every corner here
+Polished By Amy I don't actually. I have a full time day job as a Sales Administrator and do nails out of my home as additional income. Mostly friends and family.
Really fantastic video!! I’ve never had my nails done before and I’ve wanted to go for YEARS! I’ve done so much research but because I’ve never been I don’t have the experience or knowledge to accurately pinpoint a good salon outside of the customer reviews and website. I never would have thought about the whole full service salon thing. That makes A LOT of sense and is definitely gonna help me narrow down my search. Thanks you
I love this video you are absolutely right about the cleaning it's got to be clean, and I really wish they could talk to me in English instead of saying yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah.
Ugh i would not mind paying the price for a good set of acrylics and or mani n pedi if only i would find a place to have my acrylic removal done right for a new set instead of having them yank my nail off even after very politely asking for a soak off
Chop shop! That’s what they should be called. I use to frequent those shops. Never again. Sometimes the attitudes are horrible and I know they don’t clean like they should.
