I've only rode my scooter (or any scooter) for 180 miles so far and today I was cruising in the rain and I realized how much everything has become second nature. Going 30-40 mph now feels comfortable. My hands are working the throttle and brakes without me even thinking about it.

thanks for joining us for these speed runs and welcome back to the comments section, I hope you and your scooter are feeling better from that incident with the car! I'm happy to hear that riding is feeling like second nature to you, that's a milestone worth celebrating. Some people think I'm crazy when I say "that you're only getting to know the scooter for the first 100 miles and every mile after that builds your muscle memory/ reflex, so take your time and never let the performance exceed your skill level", but I truly stand behind that statement!

thanks for watching Reuben, glad you enjoyed the speed runs. Sorry for the delay again man, work and personal life has reached a new level of crazy this past week. Yea man. I totally forgot about this area but I used to ride my bike around here growing up because my school, gym, and park that we practiced at and played handball at are all in this area. Most of the time its super quiet but for some reason there were so many cars that day lol. Go figure, it's only busy when you need to record! As for the camera, I'm pretty upset at Insta360 about it so we'll see what happens with it.

Discharge resistance warming your battery seems to gradually add an extra ~2 mph to top speed (42 mph, 67.6 km/h). There's an 11.9% increase is top speed with Turbo level 5 on.

thanks for watching this video and welcome to the channel! You're right. With every run it was getting a little bit faster. Generally, I try to work my way up to the full output when doing these types of runs to allow for things to gradually ramp up to the top speed.

I don't mean to be critical because the effort is appreciated. Common sense however, would instruct me to make the first run with X-mode and turbo on, while the voltage is highest since the current demand will be highest. While the scooter will attain those those lower performance settings at lower voltage, it doesn't work the other way around. You were somewhere around 85% voltage while trying to clock your fastest speeds. Does it make a difference? .... it does on at least three of my dual motor performance scooters. Typically 1-3mph. Admittedly the difference it more noticeable the smaller the battery but if you don't try, you'll never know. Plus, you're already slightly handicapped in that you have to ride some distance to your speed test location. Anyhow, just a thought.
@eyebahnrides

thanks for joining us on this ride! Apologies for the late reply, work and personal life has been batsht crazy lately. Appreciate% the feedback, but I don't think it really makes a difference between 100% and the 80's as far as performance on the speed runs. Over the last thousand or so miles, I only really see the performance dip once the scooter below 70%. I'm sure someone in Nami FB group would either support or debunk that because they've actually done tests lol. That's the catch with this location. It takes a while to get there and it uses up a good amount of battery, however, I won't take as much crap for doing the speed runs on an empty bike lane.

thanks for joining us for the speed runs David, I'm glad you enjoyed it! Insta360 got me sorted out before but I'm going to have to wait to do the repairs on the X3. They're telling me that the reason for the damage is user error so I have to pay for the repairs and it's going to take 3 weeks to get it done. I can't part with the camera for 3 weeks so I'm just going to use it with the damage and hope I can get it repaired in the next couple of months.

The Nami Klima can easily do 45+ but they tuned it for torque which is preferable for most people and especially for those that are 200+ lbs.

@eyebahnrides 26 дней назад
Thanks for joining us for the speed runs and welcome to the channel Brandon! Yup, that sounds about right. In my initial first impressions of the Klima, I mentioned that the controller is tuned for high torque instead of high speed. Like you said, heavier riders like myself prefer that bit of torque because it helps move our weight better. Across the Nami line up it feels like this was the choice that they made. All the scooters feel like they had more to give and had a hard stop at the top end.

thanks for watching! Wobbles on any of these things is terrifying lol. Luckily it can be prevented with proper weight distribution and practice on the scooters. I hope this was able to help some people. The clamp is actually incredible, its the selfie sticks bottom part that broke off! It's interesting because Insta360 told me that it was user error that caused the accident and I would have to pay for the repair sand it would take 15 business days. They said that I was supposed to use an action stick for any type of riding but I never see that "action selfie stick" on any of the marketing or videos. I've been using their products for 2 years now and I never heard of the "action selfie stick" until I was told by their customer service. I don't mind paying to get it fixed and I don't mind waiting but it upsets me that they expect customers to know every single accessory for their products without communicating it properly. Then they blaming the customer for misuse. I'm just going to rock out with the broken X3 for now and if an opportunity to purchase a preowned replacement comes up, I'm gonna pick one up!

Great content as always. Coming from an MTB mantra where our mantra is long bars and short stems for stability - the klima seems like a good candidate for fitting a shorter stem, wider bars and even shortening the steerer tube for a more aggressive riding position? Although probably trade off some manouverability, which might be high on the list in NYC lol.
@eyebahnrides
@eyebahnrides Месяц назад
thanks for joining us on this ride and welcome to the comments section, I'm glad you've been enjoying the content on the channel! Apologies for the delayed response, work and personal life has been a bit crazy this last month, but I'm finally catching up with RU-vid! Ohhhh, with the mantra in mind, it makes sense now why Diety makes those direct mount stems and 800mm width bars! I would probably do that if I were a younger lad with a better back and I were more aggressive with my straight line riding, but nowadays its all about standing up straight and comfort for me lol. I even changed the bar height on my Super73 because it was too aggressive for NYC roads hahaha. I'm not sure if you've ever seen the folks that do eScooter Racing but they have the stem basically cut in half and they have those 800mm bars on their. They follow the short stem wide bars thing since they're basically looking for max stability and they can lean "moto gp style" into every corner with out worrying about encountering a life ending pothole!

Something that people don't talk about too on this klima scooter is how doesn't go through paint wear lol. Like the discoloration from the acidity of the rain or maybe sun exposure for long period amount of time. Iv noticed ever since I replaced the rear disc rotor to a thicker one I no longer hear squeeking noise when I squeeze on to the brake lever. But yea the stock disc rotors are thin should of been thicker but yea the rear side snapped out of Alignment on me before while I was riding my klima. Front wheel lost more tread then on the rear not sure how is that when most of the weight is compressed on the rear. And folding lock mechanism is awesome doesn't creek or wobble. I'm a lil daredevil on the klima hauls my as like nothing cause I dony way by alot I weigh like 154 lbs I'm a shorty haha lol. I hope nami speeds it up making new models cause i definitely look forward to buy another nami. 😂

@eyebahnrides Месяц назад
thanks for joining us for this ride Julian. I've been meaning to clean the rotors on the Klima but every time I do it freaking rains the next day. I'm at this point that I'm just gonna deal with it until we see less rain in NYC lol. You're right, even with my old Burn E which i had for 2 years never discolored after riding it in rain, snow, salt, and bright sun! I hope Nami comes out with some updates to the line up soon. Before that, I need them to get on that UL Certification ASAP. NYC isn't playing around with stuff like that and I'd hate to not be able to keep my scooter or get another Nami because they didn't want to get the certification...
@JulianRides
@JulianRides Месяц назад
@eyebahnrides yea man hopefully like a 82 volt nami new model maybe same weight as the nami burn e-2 max but of course more range and higher top speed. Be cool if they did research on different battery material then lithium ion like maybe sodium ion or graphene. Those type are more durable to harsh weather temperatures, way more range, and recharge quicker. So yea lol not sure why every electric still using lithium. If you do get pulled over by police maybe show them the UL certificate not sure if you can get away with that.

Of course, on the day that I'm recording, we got every single car in Queens there lol. Insta360 does have a GPS feature. I'll send you a video on IG where Recorded one with it. The only thing is I have to keep the app open in order for it to work or I have to pay for another expensive accessory that I have to charge lol. @cocoabiscuits

good question as I have been charging my nami to 100% and shutting it off once the charger stops. I hate to interrupt the charge cycle to check battery percentage so I let it run. Some people say between 40-80% for long periods or storage but if I'm being completely honest idk how anyone can gauge this claim against one that charges to 100% and leaves it. Part of me wonders if it's all b.s.? I just make sure the battery is properly stored in room temperature and not exposed to extreme hot or cold. I think that matters the most but that's my opinion.
@facsimile-io3dd
@facsimile-io3dd Месяц назад
@@cocoabiscuits Electrons repulse each other, which imparts electron pressure on battery cell walls. The higher the charge, the higher the electron pressure within all cells. The pressure results in flexing of the cell materials and structures, and cumulative fatigue from the flexing weakens its ability to maintain its original shape. Charge limiting reduces the cumulative fatigue level, so it takes longer to weaken or distort cell materials, structures, and deform the electrolyte. This is why phone batteries puff-up if you keep deeply discharging and recharging them to 100% each day. The battery structure can not keep flexing that much indefinitely, it slowly weakens and can quickly deform, which displaces the electrolyte inside, degrading performance. Better materials, higher build-quality, better quality-control of battery cell production, also results in the cells (generally) lasting longer. If the user changes battery pressure by the maximum amount each day, even high quality cells are going to weaken sooner. Deep discharge reduces electron pressure almost to nothing. The cell material relaxes and may resist expanding as much again when recharged, but if it does it flexes and fatigues the cell the most possible. So the structure begins to flex a little more each time, and more flexure equates to higher cumulative fatigue, so battery output begins to 'sag' sooner, because the increased flexure reduces the battery's internal electron pressure sooner as its walls relax a tiny bit more, each time. The battery structure is beginning to cumulatively slightly 'puff-up' when it recharges. This is why cheap cells generally have earlier and larger discharge output 'sag', where the top speed achievable falls away sooner. Cheap cells are made with weaker material and poorer quality-control so they lose performance and fail sooner. Batteries in phones, PEVs or EVs are all affected by the quality of the cells in their battery. But also by the way they're discharged and recharged. Maximum recharging should be done occasionally, to make sure all of the cells fill completely to 'balance' the cells, but the rest of the time decreasing recharge pressures to about 85% of maximum capacity is going to cause cells to last much longer. Each cell has a limited number of times it can flex. You're aiming to reduce the total mechanical flexure of the cell material. So avoid discharging the cells too deeply as well. Nami 'Max' batteries use high-quality cells so it's going to seem like there's very little degradation, for a long time, until there is. The less the total flexure, the longer that will take. Not saying what to do here, I don't care how anyone uses their battery. But if you push the recharge and discharge levels higher and lower than than they need to be to get where you're going each day, the battery cells are inevitably going to flex more, and degrade sooner. To me that's an expensive thing to do, if I have no reason to be doing it.
@eyebahnrides
@eyebahnrides Месяц назад
thanks for joining us on the ride and welcome to the channel Nathan. I think facsimile left an excellent through response there that I can't really expand on further lol. In short if you're going to store the battery for a while it's best to keep it below 80% and above 20%. I charge my scooter about once a week for my normal commute riding so I bring it down to 25% and I charge up to 100% if i can (its no big deal if I don't because I don't want to charge it unattended).
@wtfmimshag
@wtfmimshag Месяц назад
Generally speaking, yes, you will get more useful cycles from a lithium battery if you charge it to less than 100%. Typical cycles charging to 4.2v/cell is 500. Every 0.1v/cell reduction in peak charge will almost double its life. But in doing so the useable capacity falls off quickly. That said, 4.2v/cell is within manufacturer specification and intended use of the batteries. Dont over think it, nothing lasts forever. Storing below 80% is important if it's not going to be used for a while, then top it up before you head out.

Scared the hell out of me with that camera tumble. Thought the scooter was attached during that role. Not a good thing for Insta360, this being your second such incident. I know I have a slight downhill parameter when I share this, but my '23 Apollo Phantom's top speed so far was a very scary (though stable) 43mph. Though every day I top up my pathetic 10" tires to 50psi, something about wee tires like that makes me uneasy. I get great performance, I must admit, from the Phantom. Some components on it are cheap, though. Would you happen to know if there's a "killswitch" on the Nami? My Phantom's throttle broke after it fell over (very cheap kickstand), and I couldn't get it to stop. I luckily had it on its side & was able to keep the wheels off the ground while they spun at whatever their max speed is set to. I couldn't hold the power down to kill the motors, it won't allow power off with the wheels moving. Like an idiot, I put duct tape on the throttle cable connection. I had to peel off the tape to yoink the throttle connection to kill the motors. I put the throttle back together with some difficulty. It feels good while using it, but it really is cheaply made. Loving the videos, and never a prob if you can't reply to me, I know I ramble. I'm the only human in my social circle who likes these things so it ends up being a 'vowel movement', as Robin Williams coined.

thanks for joining us on the speed tests! Yea this is the second time an accessory has failed for them. The first time it was the base of the "quick release" that shook loose during a ride in January of last year. This time the bottom of the selfie stick broke (this was the first time i used the selfie stick in this manner). They did say that it was due to improper usage so I have to pay for the repairs and have to wait for 3 weeks for them to make the repair. I'm not trying to be a jerk here but for them to tell me that you need an "action stick" for filming that kind of content but most of their influencers use a standard selfie stick in their videos, kind of angers me because they're basically punishing me for their inability to communicate the proper accessories needed for their products. But, I digress... There is a motorkill that activates when you engage pull the brake levers and activate the brakes. That's actually the issue that I originally had with this Klima. It would turn on and never come off. Now that issue is fixed, it activates appropriately. I like the apollo scooters but they did feel cheap when I had tried one of the 2021 Phantom and Explorer. They looked really cool and performed well but didn't feel as put well built as the Mantis 10 FFR Edition that ended up purchasing (despite having a reputation for being poorly built). I totally get the whole not having someone to talk to about it. Outside of the PEV buddies that I've met in the community here, nobody in my daily life or social circles really understand it.

Hi Ivan, just to let you know, I bought(in Brisbane, Australia) a new Klima Max just over a week ago, your video's are what convinced me to trade in my Dragon Lightning V1 for this amazing ride. I've tried "X mode" once with everything, including Turbo, turned to max - whoo, hoo, is all I can say!!

thanks for joining us on these speed runs and welcome to the channel Bruce! Apologies for the delayed response. Work and personal life has reached record levels of craziness this past week but I'm finally catching up with YoutTube! Congratulations on your new Klima Max, I'm glad to hear that I was able to help you decide to get this amazing scooter! Enjoy the heck out of it. Just make sure you take your time getting to know the scooter and make sure that you're geared up when you ride. Hahaha yeaaaaa, X-Mode with turbo on is a feels like it could keep going past 42mph but I'm sure they have they have protections in place so we don't fry the controller and motor lol.

Can you do a range test on the blast max
@eyebahnrides
@eyebahnrides Месяц назад
thanks for watching the video and welcome to the channel! I'm not sure if I can still get my hands on the Blast Max to do the video but would love to if I could. I would possibly do a performance test of it, but I don't think I'd ever do a proper range test. I haven't yet with any of the PEVs I've owned or reviewed because my body gives out way before the PEV runs out of battery lol. Plus it takes quite a long time to kill a battery here in NYC and finding hours to film on a day off where I have things to do for work and family is tough. Maybe I'll start to do more of the range test type of videos If i can get to a more "full time" schedule with the channel! Thanks for the feedback and suggestion!

I wish they invented batteries that didn't get affected by the cold 🥶

thanks for watching! Yea man, I feel you. I need them to work on getting that done sooner. I think they just made a break through with solid state batteries and those i believe aren't as affected and are more stable.

What mirrors do you use? The look way better then mine. I got mine cheap from amazon and i cant really see which can be dangerous even tho my max speed is 18 lol

thanks for joining us on these speed runs Ethan! I use some pretty generic aluminum CNC mirrors from amazon as well. Despite that, they're actually really good because it's got a great FOV and excellent clarity. Here's the link Klima Side Mirrors: amzn.to/3GoxZwN

Do you miss the larger tires on the burn e max?
@eyebahnrides
@eyebahnrides Месяц назад
thanks for joining us for these speed runs! Honestly, I don't really notice the difference in the tire size since I generally avoid running over any huge road imperfections. The 3 things that I miss from the Burn E the most are the more plush suspension, the wider deck that makes it easer to change stances on the fly, and finally the smoother delivery of power

¿Can you change gears on the run? In my Nami i always start with Eco, then Drive...

I think I do not overheat the controllers and motors if I do it that way.
@zuluwalker181

As long as there is no throttle input while changing modes it is safe in my opinion. Like old school manuals and locking wheel hubs
@cocoabiscuits
@cocoabiscuits Месяц назад
I change gears on the run. I set all my settings from eco to x mode and gradually + as I ride or - when I need to. It’s much easier than trying to tame the beast in higher modes to go slow.
@cocoabiscuits
@cocoabiscuits Месяц назад
@@zuluwalker181 I didn’t realize there was an issue. Changing on the tin is much easier hitting plus and minus for me. I dislike being at a stop and then taking off in s or x mode. It’s too much jolting throttle when all I want to do is cruise “politely”
@zuluwalker181
@zuluwalker181 Месяц назад
@cocoabiscuits I change modes on the go too, just don't feed power to the controller while doing it. Let go of the throttle and then change modes rather than keeping the throttle open WHILE changing modes. I don't think the controller will like that sudden surge of higher output, better to be safe than sorry.

Hi ivan it will be a year since having my Nami E2Max in October and it's been a brilliant ride only fell off it once in November dislocated my shoulder but its ok now after three months I have done couple of video's on my RU-vid channel, also I have upgraded to a nami back light indicator. Michael sha has sent me front indicator lights and NFC lock and new screen I also put on red spirit beasts nut protectors on and red nut rings for my board I stand on.. I was using off road tires but they was too bumpy so now using hybrid tyres has I like to go up and down the feilds and cannel paths, I think the cops are getting more relaxed in united kingdom up north west blackburn Lancashire a few have drove past me just has long I was driving at 15.5mph but think if I was driving at a high speed it would be a different matter.. now though cops can't chase us especially if we haven't no helmet on, I wear a full face ROUOK helmet and fox racing armour. There some car drivers can make it hard for us escooter drivers though some can't stand us.

thanks for joining us for the speed runs James! My apologies for the delayed response. Work and personal life has reached new levels of craziness lately and I'm finally catching up with RU-vid. I'm happy to hear that you've recovered from the fall and back up and running. That's great news about the UK. I'm happy to see that ya'll are making some progress with riding PEVs in public! I see more and more content out of the UK and it's a nice change of pace compared to the other things that I watch. I think some vehicle drivers everywhere make everything difficult for us because they feel a sense of entitlement and drive like they own the road lol
