I'm sorry to hear about your friend, honestly when you started speaking about gaslighting I immediately thought of a friend of mine that had a similar incident with. They hit my headphones off my head (ultimately breaking them) oneday on the bus we were taking for a field trip, swore at me and made it a big joke in front of the year group. I confronted them afterwards saying I do not appreciate how they treated me, thinking they would understand what they did was wrong. They proceeded to tell me how it was just a joke and that my ego is hurt thats why Im responding the way I did and that I should check my ego. We ended up parting ways because they couldnt live with the idea of being wrong, they couldnt live with their own image being tarnished so they ended up saying we should go our separate ways, even though I said Im willing to forgive them and willing to move on. So Id say my biggest lesson I took from it all myself is learn to acknowledge when youre wrong, and learn to live with not always being right in life. Heck we aren't always right in life, thats being human, to me the best lessons Ive extracted from this life have been in the moments I was wrong, or incorrect, or off the path. People that always are surrounded by agreeableness, never receive conflict, never got told no as kids are the ones that ALWAYS respond poorly to criticism, conflict, failure etc.

I like the analogy you drew between narcissism and cocaine. To take that a little deeper, I think any sort of negative emotion or state of being can become addictive in a sense. If you don't know or can't conceive any other way of being you're gonna be grasping at straws, trying ANYTHING to avoid looking within.
I definitely see some narcissistic traits within me, and I understand that friend should give me feedback but this one time they started criticizing me for my life purpose and my dream. They said it was childish and if I told you you would probably also say that my goals and dreams are kind of fantasy but I believe in them and I am going to do them. However I attacked them back so hard even I was surprised, firstly I started explaining why it was valid goal and then I started insulting them back that they themselves would not achieve their dreams. This video really made me think but whatever. I am on my journey to reducing my ego and I guess narcissistic traits if I have any will disappear in the process too. And if they Don't, it's okey
Sounds like your friend has some unresolved trauma where the narcissistic defensive blowups could stem from. Takes A LOT of courage and time to break that ego down & face yourself. also keep in mind some untreated mental illnesses can stop you from coming to an accountability mindset due to lack of specific molecules or nutrition. Some of us are/were so insecure & don't even realize how many unresolved onion layers there are until we're medicated (Western, eastern, psychedelic....) So complicated.... Ugh But yeah best to let them go until they can be better (if they do)
Interesting , ok I will answer thanks, 1) I like criticism but it's taken a long time to get to this point, I find it entertaining most of the time apart from my worst critic , me , I really hate on myself with no mercy and that does hurt. 2 , I take any apology offered and quick.to give one , a product of my training is the cause and reaction. Its good to be humble, if anything I apologise for things I don't need too . 3 , I like to see people successful but i don't see myself as successful I'm not I don't like that again I blame myself for more that I can be responsible for.
Depends on your goals as well when starting with SoME, are doing for being popular, are you doing for being heard, help other people, or just connect to like minded people and take it easy, since SoME doesn't have to be a grind for self-image, can also be used a plate to find like-minded friends, but if someone get popular then I can see how narcissism can start to seep in

@hidden2753 According to him, he met her twice in person, the videos consistently get him higher views, she's always looking for attention and therefore plenty of consistent content. I'm not surprised Harry's wife gets high views on his channel, i'd say about 80% of his subscribers are scorned middle-aged women
Yes, that makes sense that he is probably catering to middle-aged women. He seems like the kind of character who would create those sh!tty clickbait tabloid magazines in the shops that cater to that same demographic too. Fascinating character, but too much noise on his channel for me to really get into it..
@hidden2753 You'd have to be a narcissist psychopath to run one of those magazines haha I get you, I can't watch those videos. He has an interview playlist and it's probably the best way of understanding the narcissistic dynamic and how their brains work, it cuts right through the noise
I'm mad at my friend for a lot of things, & i feel like i get these narcissistic traits, but i also feel hurt, disappointed & left out. Also insecurities in myself that makes me think bad thoughts. But i don't know if it's narcissistic

Struggling and suffering are not the same thing. You won't die from struggling but you could from suffering. I would say the same thing to my older brother and only cause I expect better from them a little gratitude goes a long way i heard tom speak and this is like an crisis or something he needs to be challenged in my opinion to see some clarity and actually attain a true understanding of the things he preaches
