The best beats are ones that use samples. And the great thing is those beats that are used for songs that gets millions of plays will keep the original music, the sample, alive by bringing those artists and their songs a new audience. I've looked up countless samples just out of curiosity alone, and I usually end up adding a lot of them to my playlists.
What? Skepta made it being interviewed by the man himself but you really think Nardwuar thought omg finally I'm interviewing Skepta when he's interviewed loaaaads of bigger names 😂😂😂😂😂
He's really just bringing up UK music history that a lot of UK music listeners would know, and Skepta is acting suprised a lot of the time. "President T" for example is an established UK Artist with tens of millions of streams...
DJ Zinc isn't the most outlandish artist to know but I think Skepta is more surprised at the fact someone from outside the UK is able to talk to him about the history of UK underground music
Dunno if releasing this episode today was done on purpose but it was really nice to see M.C Duke get a shout out a day after he unfortunately passed away, a true legend.
This was such a good interaction bruh I love that Skepta was really living through the Nardwuar experience after being aware of it. Bro was dumbfounded 16:34 13:24 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Skepta is super bright. I loved how he was able to quickly and clearly explain the history of UK Hip Hop names, while creating a parallel comparison to the US Hip Hop scene using 'Lil'
@@crazyfalang8420 what a time to be a kid. Used to play football up pickets lock on a Saturday then take the w8 down. Surprised didn’t get jacked to be honest!
M.C Duke died on 21st Apr 2024, and this video was uploaded on 22nd Apr 2024, meaning most likely Sketpa was gifted the M.C Duke record on the day of his death...R.I.P M.C Duke
Never thought I’d hear President T mentioned on Nardwuar. One of the coldest in Grime, check out his tunes with Skepta if you want to get into Grime music.
For real, Skepta and JME are absolute UK legends, period. Especially love how humble they are even at the top and how they respect the culture/history of UK rap/hiphop. Big up Big Smoke and JME. BBK!
Having grown up in london listening to skep, hes the british goat. I dont think he even realises his cultural impact and im grown now. Keep being you skep microphone champion 🏆
@@maxway7465 yeah that's how I knew about him primarily, early jungle/hardcore is my favourite music, although I am partial to a bit of hip-hop as well
I been waiting for this interview since 2016 Skep thank you for being always a better version of yourself and being the same person at the same time that shit is crazy. Thank god nardwar got this finally done.
The Journey that you are able to take the Artist trough is Off the charts ! i like to see a genuine moment of nostalgia rediscovered. like lacing mind pears one by one. Leaving us with a clearer understanding what has made us who we are.
Man I miss skepta albums, would be nice to see another grime mc typa thing going on from him, good to see he’s just as down to earth as him n Jme ever been
for anyona watching this, schola used to send beats to Ed when Ed was 15 or so in 06. Eventually schola sent a beat with Eds vocals to Slix who was in Ruff skwuad, that’s when the whole Ed ting in grime started
Immediately looking up that Wee Papa Girl rappers - Kevin Saunderson Detroit house mix... I already know he mixed it up correct. Big ups Smoke and Nardy ❤️
R.I.P MC Duke. Still play ‘I’m Riffin’ to this day. Thanks to Nardwuar and Skepta for mentioning him. There’s a whole group of UK Hip Hop pioneers who don’t get the accolades and respect they deserve. Hope this changes soon.
Nardwaur never disappoints with his journalism superpowers! I love seeing artist's reaction to his research. MAJOR salute to Skepta! He was the first UK rapper I got hip too and that sent me down the rabbit hole of the Grime genre. Real life legend!
Amazing to see Skepta trying to keep up his persona and slowly find it harder and harder to keep it together. So good to see artists respond emotionally. Nard the GOAT
