Nasal Dilator Options - Restore Nasal Breathing 

I found the Mute/Turbine nasal dilators extremely beneficial but the sharp plastic corners on the backs of the wings were causing a sore spot to develop inside my right nostril. I recommend anyone who tries these and encounters this problem to file down the sharp/pointy plastic bits (tho if you use a nail file for this, make sure that’s it’s sterile!). Rounding down those edges/points made a huge difference in terms of comfort 👌👌👌

Love Intake. Shocking how well they work. There aren’t magnets in the tape it’s metal. The magnets are on the actual ridged strip. Worth every penny.

I have tried the breathe right strips and they work great, but I have an oily nose so they don't always stay on the entire night. I would have a red nose for awhile after peeling it off in the morning. I am currently trying the Intake magnets. This is way more comfortable, but am still looking for the right placement of the magnets. The adhesive mechanism is similar to a bandaid and they have stayed on for over 24 hours. It also comes with 4 sizes to try. I also tape my mouth. If I can't find a good placement with the magnets, then the product might not work for me. It is also way more expensive than the breath right strips. Another product I tried is the NasalAid. It was one size and it works to dilate the nose but kept falling out. It is basically a coated wire cut and folded into a U shape, then bent in half with 2 prongs that are inserted into your nose, and the other end rests on top of your nose. It is coated in silicone. When I was side sleeping, it was also pushed against one side of my nose, causing soreness the next day. Due to it falling out, even after trying to bend it to fit, I gave up and moved on. I have tried nasal nose cones in the past and they were painful, so I have been reluctant to try anything in my nose, but that is the next step. Thanks for mentioning this. I am looking at the difference between Mute and Airmax.

I can tell you that the Mute dilators do work very well providing you buy the right size. It does take a few nights to get used to and I found that they can cause a raw spot if you are not very careful inserting and removing them. I suspect it depends on the shape of your nose.

Thank you Dr. The one question that hovers on my lips always is the nasal cones appear to be too short for the likes of me who have deviated septum a little deeper inside. Are the cones of a standard length and would longer ones be acceptable medically? Thanks for any suggestions!

I use the solid cones. I cut the center bar and tie a thread using a sewing needle using thread that's thin and matching the color of the skin. I shorten mine so they don't show (sticking out of the nose ) If the nose is running they don't do as well but if you rarely run then it may work for you in public ( you don't look like a nerd ). It does not work with facemask filters for covid ( I built up a sore ). Anything pressing against the nose can mess up a lot of these devices. Note: that I breath fairly descent. I use them because smoke causes congestion ( cigarette or welding smoke ).Not for sleep

I was losing chunks of skin to the Breathe Right strips. The Mute is a real game changer. My nose is messed up due to a botched septoplasty. This is the first time in a while I can breathe like anyone else. The small is really kid small. I use a medium.

Should one wear it all day in order to widen the nasal path?

My problem comes when pollen is dropping. I'm trying the strips for the first time. I hope it works

Heres a crazy thought. Would pulling the nostril section towards the bridge of ur Nose work? Hot topic may be able to give a more permanent fix for a fraction of the cost of surgery. Tho u would look pretty unusual 4sure :)

Thank you for this video. I use a CPAP machine with mask that covers nose and mouth. I have large inferior turbinates so I end up breathing through my mouth (with the mask) on while sound asleep! What’s the point? I need to try a turbine dilator. I would love to have an open nasal passage. Surgery to reduce turbinates is brutal. No way. Best wishes.

The bulkiness of the silicon inserts is a problem for me. They hit a nerve and make me sneeze. I used to have a slimline scaffold made of surgical wire, but unfortunately they don't make them now.

I'm afraid it's going to have to be Hale (or equivalent) for me. I used extra-strength Breathe Rights and my wife said all it did was make it sound like I wasn't hitting a choke point and just made me snore deeper/ more consistently 😂 Plus, in the long term, it stretched out my skin on my nose, so that it looked wrinkled for awhile. So had to stop and let that collagen get back to work (if the damage hadn't been too much, in my mid-forties lol). I was afraid I'd have a wrinkled nose for the rest of my life.

I may ask an Alibaba manufacturer already making adhesive nostril strips to make the Intake product for a tiny fraction of the price. The most effective method I’ve experienced is a raw vegan diet with no fiber. Fruit and veggie juice help, and fresh spirulina for calories is the best. Also, cannabis vapor or edibles also helps hock up mucus, resulting in clear airways

I just wanted to add one more thing if you don’t mind answering I have a deviated septum would that be an issue with any of these?

How do i decide when i need to go for deviated septum surgery? I tried turbinate reduction, nasal dilators. I have nasal wall collapse too.

Mute nose works really well for my nasal valve collapse.. tell me how long I can use it for obviously when I wash it up to 5 times a day? I feel great with it and I want to be able to use it during a day as well. I hope it wont make any problems for me if i use it all the time because I have to?

Once you try Sleep Right you'll throw all the others away. No comparison. I've purchased and tried them all. Sleep Right stays in place, all night, and does not cause any pain.

My nose is too sensitive on the inside for the inserts and daily use of the strips causes skin irritation on the outside. You ever heard of smooth u-shaped devices that hook on the outside of the nostril and attach to a strap around the back of the head? Not talking about the big things like cpap - just small thing to gently pull the nostrils apart a bit. Sounds like it would work...wonder why I can't find it? I noticed a site a couple years with someone selling these but it disappeared the next day, so not sure.

I need something for sleeping. The external ones like Mute hurts my nose when I wear them, so I go with extra strength Breath Right Strips. Unfortunately these make my nose break out with pimples even with the sensitive skin breath right strips. So I have to limit my usage. I try not to use them more than 2 or 3 days in a row and try to go at least the same amount days in a row not using them. I wish there was a solution for these not to cause me to break out since they work well for me.

there is a product on the market that is called "Provent sleep apnea therapy" can this product help for sleep apnea?

Do you think any of these would help for issues breathing due to allergies? My problem is that my nasal passages get so swollen and irritated they close and I hate it !!

Probably a better option would be a nasal stent, dillators never did the trick for me
