No body roll. No lunging under breaks. Really well set up car, and yes, sounds absolutely badass, and I'm a Holden / Chev diehard.

I would definitely go to Bathurst if NASCAR came over here and did a 6 hour race, it would be awesome. They could use our V8 Supercar guys as co-drivers.

Ian I’ve been a mechanic on so many different motorsport platforms here in Australia crew chief for vehicles on so many different tracks including nascars there is nothing like the sound of a NASCAR at 9000 revs around an oval it’s a sweet sensation

The main reason Australia built four door super cars is because when Aussie boys got married and had kids they still loved their muscle cars, 'kids in the back misses up front!

Yeah they did come factory with a 302 Windsor v8 and top loader with 9". They sounded like this back when races at bathurst. Pete Geoghegan Super Falcon XY was a beast.

Heyt Ian, great reaction. Pity there was no vision of it over Skyline and down to the elbow, it would sound amazing reverburating. Blendline do an an awesome job streaming grass roots motorsport on a very small budget. That event is called Challenge Bathurst, a 4 day event.Thu/Fri are for the pro's and purpose built race cars. Sat/Sun is what they call Regularity, and a chance for Joe Average to take their own car (or a hire car LOL) for laps around the track. It's held Novemberish every year, and basically the only 'testing' you can do at the Mountain.

The XT Falcon range was introduced in March 1968[2] as a facelifted version of the XR Falcon, which it replaced. The XT featured a revised grille and taillights and improved safety features including split-system brakes, larger tyres and electrically operated windscreen washers. Standard equipment in the luxury Fairmont models included bucket seats, front disc brakes, a heater/demister, a wood-grain dash, carpet and courtesy lamps in all four doors. The Fairmont Wagon featured an electrically operated tailgate

Just before this, I was watching the Gordon Murray Automotive T50 in-car, around Goodwood, England. This Falcon sounds like THUNDER at 9000 rpm, and the T50 sounds like LIGHTNING at 12100 rpm !!

GT Gold was my favourite colour. The original XT GT had a 302 windsor engine with 230 HP.

Hi Ian back in my hey day I had 2 XT Falcons, 1 was a 6 cylinder with 4 speed. The other was a automatic with a Mustang 289 motor. I wish I still had them now. Anyway keep up the good work from Dave in Australia.

Even without the title, you can instantly tell it’s got a NASCAR donk in it. They have a very distinctive note, I wonder what it is about them that makes them sound like that…

It's a beast of a thing! I had an XR Fairmont with a 289 in it for a little while in the 70s. It had a V8 sound but yeah, nothing like a big banger like that.

One guy local to me here in Norway got the strange idea that he needed a Nascar for some reason, I was in the small concrete garage he stored it in as he started it... I had to leave the garage as the sound was intense from that thing, it's crazy. Also how I learned about the weird flaps on the roof that flip up if the car spins out, and supposedly helps using air resistance to spin the car facing forward again.

being an Australian, I can tell you, this iconic Ford Falcon and NASCAR combination is the holy grail of motoring here in Australia.

It looked unnervingly settled for an old Falcon. I'm torn between between making a classic look great with a modern drive train and keeping the classic character of the car. Body roll and all.

Ian...Love your videos ...watch them all.. Just not a big fan of NASCAR til now ..being honest . It's not because of the cars and especially not because of the engines because they're they sound and run incredible . It's oval racing ...Nup ...just can't get me interested that much . I need corners and lots more braking etc.. That said , I read recently that from next year there are going to be at least nine road races in NASCAR which is fantastic .. That I will definitely watch and enjoy I'm sure . That XT Falcon with that beaut NASCAR motor is awesome.. The XR/XT Falcon from the mid 60's was the catalyst to our love of V8 racing by the way .. The XR Falcon began it all and the XT Falcon and Holden Monaros created the Ford v Holden tribal war on the track ..Great vid once again ..

Hi y'all, 👋 my 2nd car was a 68/XT 221(3.6) auto which I bought for $800 in 1978. 10 years later I put my XC ex pursuit/chase car 351c under a tarp when my boss gave me his wild XTGT to babysit so the XT was temporarily mine.

Yes, Ian I have heard some of the Aussie cars sound just as good although the Nascar engine does have a certain note to it whether this is because of the air-fuel intake system or muffler system or not I am not sure. I say this because I used to have a big old '98 Yamaha 1100cc Virago Special a while ago now and I am only a little fellow but for me, the loudest thing about my bike (you can see it in my post header) was the intake noise which I found rather distracting but a superbike all the same. I loved it because it had all the trimmings radio bar warmers (a must - added them myself along with other readout gadgets ) and twin saddlebags and it took me to Lightning Ridge (opal country) twice and never let me down once. But it's one lovely feature was how quiet it was like a sewing machine running LOL!!

A great car and one of Fords best looking as well in my opinion.

Don't have to imagine a whole field of these cars racing and touring the country , I remember it clearly . All I have to do is close my eyes and reminisce .

That's how's Bathurst used to sound like before fun police All our motor sports especially speedway sprint cars You need to watch them oval track on dirt roughly quarter mile 1 lap in around12 seconds with 4 corners Alot inside views as well

There is a couple of skid cars that have them in there I think one is a green valiant it has BLOKY on the plate and pretty sure other one is a tray back hilux Ute

Hi Ian the blue valiant pacer in the touring car masters No60 driven by Cameron tilley has a 408ci NASCAR V8 in it it used to run a hemi straight 6 in it until he upgraded it

Originally these XT's GT's came out with the 302 Mustang motor, which wasn't to shabby in it's day, the XT was a small car by today's standards.
