Natural Chica's Big Chop - Transition from Relaxed to Natural Hair

Thank you for sharing. The BC is a big step for everyone who chooses to do it but seeing others handle it with grace & good spirits helps. You have a beautiful spirit that shines through so even if you'd taken your hair allllll the way down to a fade, you'd still be beautiful.

Almost brought me to tears....at my desk at work...like a damn fool. There are so many emotions attached to our hair as women of color, and I've wanted to go natural for so long. I'm still a relaxed girl, and I just don't know where to begin. I work in a flexible work environment but I feel so strange going natural especially since everyone thinks my clip ins are my real hair. I'm going to try....you've given me inspiration

So I'm a subscriber to your channel, but I never before watched this vid, and I must say I cried tears of joy for you when you finally looked in the mirror and saw your new do!!! It really brought out the beauty of your face and made you look so much more mature in an ANTM way! I wish I could remember my first reaction when I did the BC 6 years ago. I loved the whole experience and I'm thinking about doing it again in about 3 years... Glad you shared this with us!!!

I've had my hair shorter than that but it's always been relaxed and now that I have a short bob and have been transitioning since oct 2010, I think I'm ready to take the dive and BIG CHOP! This video is so encouraging and that's what going natural is about - going for it!

I did my Big Chop Sunday, August 26, 2012 @ 5 p. m. and I love the way my hair feels. I haven't gotten used to the way it looks but I can't keep my hands out of my hair! I'm glad I did it, ready to see how my natural hair grows & how healthy it will be! Thanks for the video!

I did my BC eight years ago and i did it again on August 17th and love it.

i BC'd last month and it was the best decision i made . i feel so free and felt like a weight lifted off my shoulders, im 20 and ive been getting relaxers since i was 4 but i am so glad i decided to give them up no more sitting in the salon for hours no more limp hair and my har is SO curly and thick and full i love it. but i couldnt have done it without your inspiration. thank you :)

I don't know when I did the big chop but I had soo much damage that my hair was shorter than yours! Then I got a relaxer again! And since my hair wasn't very long we waited until my natural hair got longer and we cut the relaxed ends off. I'm a couple years into natural and I'm loving it. KEEP YOUR HAIR MOISTURED. My mom has been relaxed longer than me and I can't wait until my hair gets as long as hers. Its going to take time but it is soo worth it! Congrats! (:

The first Big Chop video I had ever seen...before deciding to go natural...I am proud to say that I am 2 years natural and going strong...I had to come back and view it again because I am embarking on a new journey, a healthy hair journey...which will last my a lifetime...

Great video!! I did the big chop almost 6 months ago. I grew it out from january till almost September and then....CHOP...CHOP...CHOP!! I dont regret it. I love my natural hair and it has been growing like crazy ever since!!!! The only thing I am working on is trial and error with products to put in my hair so it dont look dry. But its coming along nicely!! Oh yeah by the way! love that shop it is beautiful!!

I watched this October 2009 and cut my hair the same day! Trust me, it is sooo worth it. And its just hair guys. Itll grow no matter what :)

wow i had my big chop in may 2011. My hair is bushy and thick. Now I have to focus on getting it all the moisture it needs. Feels like I am getting back in touch with myself. Your hair is super cute thanks for the video. (smile)

I have made the decision to go natural and im not going to say everyone in my family is against me they are all "perm heads" and thinks without a perm your hair is considered 'NAPPY' . My 10yo daughter has been natural for a year now and her hair was really damaged and broken off and wasn't much I could do with it. I never gave her the BC because like I said her hair was already short and to cut it she would have been bald,
