I have had this tent for over a year now. Camped in all sorts of weather - so far so good. It has stood up to some tough winds and snow. Living in Scotland hopefully it will last for a least another season. I really like it.

Yeah, I quite agree with you. A good tent and with an extra guy line from the back window makes all the difference in strong winds. Thanks for watching!

Very comprehensive review and at that weight, it has to be a winner, especially for summer camping. I would not fancy it in bad weather and may be a squeeze for two people but overall, based on your review, I like it. Cheers Alan

Hi Trev. Great and fair review. The 3 way pole connectors have been improved on this model when compared to the 3 legged previous model that you mentioned. As far as the 'sail' effect. One should ideally pitch a tent with its arse into the wind. This will also allow the rear vent to work properly and help prevent condensation inside the tent.
@SummitOrNothing
@SummitOrNothing 5 лет назад
Hi ya. Yeah, I hear that the older models had the issue, but I did watch a video where someone with the upgrade had the every same issue. Fingers crossed that I shouldn't. And yeah, I am aware that setting up facing arse into the wind is the idea, but very rarely on Dartmoor does the wind come in from the same direction throughout the duration of the night, but we do set out with that in mind. Thanks for watching!

Thanks, Robin, it's a fantastic little lightweight low budget tent. As I said, It has replaced my Banshee for the time being, but I still have to put it to the test in real high winds and see how it stand up to that. But so far, so good. Thanks for watching.

I had one of the older ones which I got modified to add the extra side guylines...... Wasn't enough as it blew flat in a high wind...Thankfully the poles didnt break and was able to successfully move the tent -with a load of help.
@SummitOrNothing
@SummitOrNothing 4 года назад
Yes the additional guy ropes are needed,and I have even started to apply one to the back window area too to help keep it up in stronger winds. But the flexible poles do seem to spring back to life and having it free standing is great for swift repositioning for sure. Thanks for watching.

like the review but 6/10 for durability was a bit unfair as you judged it on what might happen not what did happen. your zips are fine and so is the frame hub but you marked it like they broke.
@SummitOrNothing
@SummitOrNothing 5 лет назад
Yeah - you make a valid point - innocent until proven guilty. I suppose I am dubious, the tent zip often feels like its gonna stick and trap me in, so that was my thinking. It is still a decent tent, and a decent score, the Banshee the Mirage and the Naturehike all fell within three points of each other. could possibly have added another point, until we give it a real test in 40mile plus winds I don't know how durable it is so was erring on the side of caution I guess.
@DjJDtech

Just recieved mine and it now comes with an extra guy loop above the rear vent, should help with stability at the rear and means you can now close the vent and have the back guyed up at the same time
@SummitOrNothing

How did you get on? Stay dry?
@ANTHONY_ROWE_L.R.P.S
@ANTHONY_ROWE_L.R.P.S 5 лет назад
I camped for three nights. I found it easy to pitch. Had heavy rain and gale-force winds. The tent stayed up no problem, I had all the guys deployed. It preformed very well, keeping me both dry and warm. There are a few improvements that would make a good tent even better. A two way zip on the fly sheet door, stiffer adjuster on the rear air vent flap.. and for me a darker colour, (it is a bit of a beacon in white). I think that I will be using the extra ground sheet with this tent most of the time, I have now cable tied the ground sheet to the inner, This makes it easier to pitch and strike camp. It was quick to pack away. Another great thing is that when I got home and hung it out to dry it dried very quick. So all in all a great tent. Thank you both for the prize.. "Summit or Nothing" See you in the Hills..! All the best Anthony …...

@@ANTHONY_ROWE_L.R.P.S ah that's great to hear Anthony. Glad it got a real good field test and you should let Naturehike know if the change suggestions , they will probably take it on board. Also thats a great idea about cable tying the mat to the inner. May have to try that myself. Wrll thanks for your feedback. You'll have to send us some pics if you have any, either on fb or you can email us. All the best

Good review, thanks. How about when the tent gets wet? I like the look of the army green version of the cloud up, but its fabric is nylon like yours I believe... When it has rained all night, doesn't the nylon absorb some of that wetness? If yes I'll probably opt for the polyester version which as far as I understand is much more water resistant. I saw a video of a very similar tent where the tent had expanded a lot after the rain making it a pain to pack, and wet too.

The CU2 is silicone-coated which should help keep it waterproof and hydrophobic.

Ordered this tent yesterday, rated pretty good, and will do well enough for what I need for the cost. Planning to also use it as a cover at the beach/rivers without the inner tent. Interesting tho, that here in Australia it is actually classed as a 4 season tent. Our snow is pretty pathetic compared to the rest of the world tho lol
@SummitOrNothing
@SummitOrNothing 5 лет назад
I think there is a 4 season version of the cloud up, the green one I think is made with slightly thicker material, but you may be right, it may be different grading according to where you are based. Its a great tent though, so good luck on your own adventures. Hope you are happy with your purchase, and thanks for watching!

@georgedpost
@georgedpost 5 лет назад
I thought this tent would score higher. Price, lightweight, lighter color (yes, I'm from the states) and free standing make it the winner in my book of the tents shown thus far. At first I was in agreement with Tony, I thought you were going a little bit hard judging the zipper before failure. But on second thought, you have the tent in hand and sometimes you can just tell. I judge equipment all the time before buying. If I were going into a bug infested area I sure as heck would like to take a tent with a good zipper. Did I tell you about the time I was too sleepy to zip my tent door and woke up to find a mouse making it's self at home in my ear?
@SummitOrNothing
@SummitOrNothing 5 лет назад
Hahaha! Well if theres a reason to tent over tarp, a mouse nesting in the ear is it haha. Yeah, maybe I could have given the tent another point for durability as Tony says, and I still wouldn't be put off buying it - its a great tent, but it just has the feel that it could fail at any time. I will keep on testing it, and maybe one day I will happily revise my review.

Sounds like a great tent indeed. I had been cycling all across Europe this winter 'till my bicycle was stolen together with my tent in London - it means I'm in the hunt for a new tent. So far i'm inclided to the Naturehike cloud up or the cycling, but information on Amazon regarding these tents are so messed up that I fear buying any of them.
@SummitOrNothing

I have got on well with the naturehike, and have gained plenty of hours use out of it so far, you can find plenty more videos on my channel if you haven't already to see what it can withstand. Definitely a great tent for lightweight and still having plenty of room inside. Thanks for watching!
@mrprofessor3077
@mrprofessor3077 5 лет назад
@@SummitOrNothing Indeed, I checked them all and the one in bad weather really gave an idea of how much that tent can withstand. I've been in winds like that where really fancy tents failed.

Hi Trev, have you seen the new superlight version of the Cloud Up 2, which I think weighs in at 950 odd grams? Looks great, but I think it's only 10 D fabric which is pushing it a bit in the thinness stakes, as I see it. I'd be interested to see you review one though....😁

Good review lads. Always a trade off with something, whether it’s £, weight, berth, robustness, stealth factor etc. Personally I’d bear the weight of the Mirage Nov - Mar, as evidenced by your trip to Cadair Idris as well as subsequent series review.........looks way more sturdy than this NatureHike. Vango seem to have a million names for it though, Mirage, Hydra, Helvellyn blah blah....good tents but their marketing and product info is woeful. There is a NatureHike cloudpeak 2 that Paul Messner reviewed on his channel that looks like a totally different proposition, very similar to the much coveted HBerg Soulo, but £££££££££££ cheaper. Might be worth a wee look. ATB, 👍😀

Grab yourself a bargain! Even the retailers seem to get confused about the different colours and fabric (210T polyester or 20D nylon) specs. So I've just bought the 20D forest green CU2 for £104 from Wood to Water - must be a mistake surely?

Wanted to test a tent a week after purchase. The base got damaged immediately without a wind, without stretching, mat was on. Almost 1 meter long tear leaving it unusable.). Also door got a hole right away. It seems like the tent was stored in bad environment or it's simply bad quality. I had to return the tent to China costing me another £25 and I am currently waiting for refund. Naturehike representative sent me a smiley face once I sent a complain. Didn't want to pay return postage and I am not sure If I get refund.

The regular was ok, but it did last just 20-25 nights. The zip starts to have big problems. The tent was cheap comparing to famous brands, but if I think that it didn't last more than 25 nights, it is not that cheap anymore. I was happy with the tent, but because of its short life I won't buy a naturehike tent anymore. The upgrade is not interesting. The new version is heavier and it is not an ultralight tent anymore.
