Naze32 Spektrum Satellite DSMX Cleanflight (please read comments first)

Note - I'm using a rev5 Naze

Make sure that satellite has been connected correctly
Make sure you have the latest cleanflight flashed to your FC
Connect Naze32 Rev5 to USB
Open cleanflight and connect to Naze32 (baseflight app in Chrome)
In the ports tab, choose UART2 : RX = Serial RX
From Configuration tab make sure that you have selected "Enable Serial-based receiver" and Serial receiver is correct (e.g. SPEKTRM2048 for DSMX)
From CLI tab type: "set spektrum_sat_bind = 9" for DSMX or "set spektrum_sat_bind = 5" from DSM2
type "save" and after Naze32 reboot remove USB cable (=Power off the Naze32)
Wait a sec and reconnect the USB cable. After cold start satellite led should start blinking and transmitter should be turned on while pressing the bind button.
After binding satellite led should be solid. Connect cleanflight and use receiver tab to test that satellite is working correctly.
Final step is to go to CLI tab and type "set spektrum_sat_bind = 0" and then type "save". This must be done so that satellite doesn't go back to binding mode when Naze32 is repowered again.

mate this is such an old video but its totally relevant to me as i have two naze 32 Afro flight version 5 with spektrum sat.. who would have thought.

Found this very helpful - only one piece missing for me - setting UART port 2 - RX parameter to Serial. Once I did that I was able to Serial-based receiver and have it "stick" - Thanks

I am using the quad race receiver and I have already bound it and tested that it works but no inputs on the receiver tab any help?

my lemon rx comes with black wires for connection, so i dont know how to connect it to my naze. as in which is positive, negative and signal

so just for someones info if you have trouble binding naze 32 to spektrum it is probably the firmware being too new for the old boards. clean flight 2.0.5 is the newest one that actually works how it is suppose to for a reversion 5 board. cheers

how much current does the sat receivers take is it 5v or 3,3V, could I run the new quad race receiver of the sat supply ? I don´t get why it´s not 5v and I don´t want to install a bec just for 3,3v

your flight controller should offer a 3.3v pad, just use that...

Does this only work with a dx8? Because I have a dx6 transmitter, would that connect to the lemon satellite receiver?

+Toasta Mahogey what do you do if roll i controlled by throttle stick and throttle is controlled by roll stick?

+SuperTHEHALOMAN you have to go into your TX and re-map your sticks. Have cleanflight running so you can see the effects of your re-mapping. I've had to do that a few times on different quads.

sorry i dont have a dx7. I have a dx8 and I use the stock battery that came with it.

+Tommysdaddy114 i only race with this so i never get too far away.. never had a problem with dropouts.. but never exceeded say..300m/1000'

HELP! I cannot get this to work on my current build! I have done this before on naze rev 5 with success. I have done this on Naze rev6 with success. But I CANNOT GET IT TO WORK with Naze rev 6b authentic afroflight board - cleanflight 1.2.1 - betaflight 2.3.0. Using LemonRx diversity satellite receiver. Does anyone have any experience with this?

+quiljw01 I found rev6 buggy w/respect to specsat/lemon binding. I only use rev5's or flip32's with the built in specsat port right now. I basically Put rev6, 6b on the back burner for the moment. U can find lots of rev5 clones (mullet, armattan, and of course flip32)

+Toasta Mahogey thanks for reply. looking further into this I found that spek-sat-bind resets to zero on hard boot. maybe this is why? someone posted on Boris bflight and explained it as a betaflight issue but I was able to plug my sat into my r5 quad just to bind it and worked fine. if this is the only bug with r6b I guess I'm OK with it vs spending even more on new boards. no issues with my r6 yet. some people have problem with usb power feeding their ESC's to boot up but not me.

+quiljw01 Perhaps you have a friend with a receiver to plug the satelite in , bind it that way, uplug it and instal on your naze32 board.

+protechnician83 thanks that's a good idea but I do have backup boards to bind worth but I want this feature on THIS board so I don't need to unplug in case it gets in bound just before a race for example.
