Bob Costas is the GOAT of Intros! Oh How I miss these days of the NBA...this is when BASKETBALL was RAW, AGGRESSIVE AND ENTERTAINING!!! Hearing the introduction would make you wanna suit up and play!! The NBA on NBC!
Can't say it any better..I really miss the NBA those days I remember watching this game as a teen with my stomach turning in knots from how nervous and exciting i was feeling
This rivalry between the Knicks & Pacers was amazing back then. They met six times in the playoffs from 93-00, splitting those series 3-3 with the exception of '98 ( Pacers won in 5)the games and series were amazing. I'm glad I was able to watch all of them.
This is the NBA I fell in love with as a kid & miss so much, when rivalries was real, dudes hated each other, when refs didn't call Bullshit fouls, no defensive 3 second calls & no super flopping. 90's nba forever over this softness that's in the NBA today!
90s NBA. The love, the nostalgia I have for this era. The music, the intros, the players. I'd choose this era over the 2000s and the 2010s, even the 2020s.
This was arguably one of the most well rounded NBA. More often than not 60 win teams were all over the place. The talent was just as as amazing. They seem weaker because MJ dominated a Gen. But besides Hakeem Olajuwon & Clyde Drexler. Nobody won while Jordan played. (Yes, Jordan came back in 95 and in playoffs was like himself)
became not only a Knicks fan, but a basketball fan for life watching the Knicks playoffs in 1994...was a sophomore in HS at the time...never game a damn about b-ball before that, but it changed my life going forward... all thanks to John Starks and the Knicks.. I'll be forever grateful to Starks and the Knicks for that
I'm not going to say the Knicks are there but the Knicks are taking steps in that direction. #1 defensive team in the NBA. Not as physical as it was back in 1994 but a great defensive team nonetheless.
The early part of 1994 was a great time for 2 New York sports teams. The New York Rangers ended their 54-year old curse by winning the Stanley Cup & the New York Knicks made it to the NBA Finals.
But man did it end bad thanks to Hakeem olajawon and the Houston Rockets in the best performance against a murderers row of centers David Robinson, Patrick Ewing and the next year Shaquille O'Neil
Except in 94 Hakeem didn't go through Robinson, that wasn't until 95 either. The Rockets beat the Trailblazers, Suns and the Jazz on their way to the Finals against the Knicks in '94. That means Hakeem was facing the less-murderous row in 94 of Arvydas Sabonis, then a platoon of Mark West and Oliver Miller in Phoenix, then Felton Spencer for Utah before the epic showdown against Patrick. In '95 he went against James Donaldson (Spencer was hurt) for Utah, then Joe Kleine for Phoenix, then David Robinson and then Shaq. I think it's only when you combine 94 and 95 where it sounds intense but either year, Hakeem only went against 2 good centers per.
back when everybody cared about the nba with jordan being around. When jordan left, the popularity of the league fell even further with the 98-99 lockout. Fewer people went to games; ratings fell, and they fell even further when ABC/ESPN took over in 2002-2003 for broadcasting rights for the NBA season, the playoffs, and the finals. At least TNT is still around for a long time for nba; they are better than ABC/ESPN and on par with MSG and YES.
This was CH 2 of the Pacers vs Knicks rivalry and it culminated through GM 5 with Reggie Miller's dominant 4th quarter along with his trash talking duel with Spike Lee.
When basketball plays had a back bone and balls I’m one of the biggest Knicks fans out there I miss these days do you Magine Oakley Mason rest in peace Charles Smith Patrick Ewing playing today and roughing up these soft players
+jaboo82681 Just for spite, eh? Do you think Indiana would have beaten the Rockets? Do you think that Jordan-less Bulls team would have beaten Indiana? Just wondering.
@@billny33 Rockets would have Killed The Pacers. Indi would put up a Fight but Rockets take it in 6. Would have been fun series to watch though. Reggie and Maxwell may have gotten heated. Hakeem woulda diced smits. Indiana can shoot but that was 50% of Houston’s team. (I live 20 mins away from state of Indiana)
