The NBC Intros are so good. It’s insane how Costas can make everything have weight, I’m sure he can make a pickup game at LA Fitness feel like an NBA Finals epic.
Costas: The shirts have had a distinct advantage today but the introduction of a quick point guard for the skins may have changed things. The pick up game next
I remember this game, I was there, went with my neighbor who had only 1 child, a daughter who didn't care for sports. He was a Laker fan, me a magic fan living in Orlando. I'd swear he was the only one sitting down when the magic hit the 3 that won the game late in the 4th quarter lol. Also remember this because later that night was the worst tornado outbreak in Florida history.
No doubt about it. Shaq missed out because the Lakers franchise already had championships. He could've built a dynasty here in Orlando. He even did an interview with D.Scott and Penny and said he realizes now he made a big mistake.
Read somewhere he didn't get along with Coach Hill a lot due to the way he used him. I bet if he gave the Magic brass an ultimatum with Brian Hill he would have stayed with Magic.
Didn't they low ball him on their offer for an extension or new contract?? One could say Penny and Shaq were the original Kobe and Shaq or dynamic 1-2 punch duo
Agreed..Shaq would of been appreciated more...With the Lakers, Kobe got the credit for 5 championships. Weird. Shaq dominated and was finals MVP in Kobe's first 3
Inquisitve m With the front office issues the Lakers have, it would not surprise me..Thank God I have the Steelers to expect great things from this year and beyond!
The reason Shaq left Orlando was fear of that number 23 in Chicago. HE had got his basketball powers and was no longer that baseball player he beat in 95. He hid out west hoping for some other team to upset them in the east so he would not have to face the in finals.
After watching the 30 for 30 documentary, now I see fully why Orlando lost Shaq, as Barkley said it: "85% bunch of idiots" said Shaq isn't worth the max My goodness, sad that they booed him for leaving
taurusve when you are a top talent it is up to your team to match the offer. The Magic learned the hard way since ownership only agreed to pay his asking price when they knew he was going to sign with LA. When the executives tried to go to LA and match the offer it was to late. Besides he wanted to try and get into acting and do more music, it may have been to late for those reasons alone. The Magic were my favourite team until he went to LA. He was always my favourite player. Since I'm Canadian, I began to cheer for the Raptors fan once he went to LA but always wanted him to do well. I wondered what he could have done had he stayed in Orlando. I thought the Magic should have kept Chris Webber. They could have done allot for the organization. But Shaq works with Penny on Blue Streak and he talked Orlando into trading for Penny.
Brian Chua: Orlando lost that negotiation. They had ability to make best offer before other teams could even get in a position to make offers. They were lowball offering & then other teams gave bigger contracts to other players. ORL slightly upped their offer only until Lakers entered fray after making moves to clear capspace. Once Lakers made more moves to offer $120mil, the magic desperately tried to make a better offer @ the 11th hour but was too late.
LA has replaced orlando as the team of the future Yep 1998 Bob Costas, you were right. 5 titles in the 2000's spurs had 3, boston and detroit both have 1
Penny got hurt and was traded fool. Yeah it was a sign and trade but Orlando was freeing cap space for McGrady, Hill and Duncan. McGrady was just flat out traded to Houston which was reasonable, 2nd straight scoring title but team was worst in the league.
@Scrumptious Urinal Cakes That wasn't the only time Paul Porter gaffed in the pregame intros on a nationally televised game; 2 years earlier, in game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals, when Brian Hill was coaching the Magic, he mistakenly said that the Magic were coached by Brian Shaw.
@@dennisfodor2463 What bright executive in the NBA said wait two years after Shaq left Magic before Lakers came to face them in Orlando lol. 82 games and they couldn't get one the 1st year.
Shaw most overrated center in Nab history😁😁😁 His career was a joke. Greatest journeyman center of all time tho. Played for for more teams than Jon Koncak and Will Purdue combined😃😃
