Kidd was like the 4th important player on the mavs and the nets only beat one 50 win team in those 2 runs to the finals, when Kidd played in the west his first 7 years he got out of the first round once. Chris Paul is a better scorer and he averages less turnovers than Jason Kidd and when the east got better jkidd and the nets never made it to the finals again even after the nets got Vince

Acho is right that Chris Pul doesn't have to be really mentioned in the history of the NBA. Steve Nash and those Suns changed the game, they were the precursors to the modern pace and space era. Stockton is the all-time assists and steals leader, so obviously he has to be mentioned.

If we're being real though, Nash isn't a better player than CP3. Nash definitely impacted the way the game was played more, but as a player, he fell short of Chris Paul. So if we're talking about who's a better PG, it's Paul, the Point God. If we're talking who impacted basketball itself more, then yeah, it's Nash

Steph is GOAT hands down! Steph is the greatest shooter by far in NBA history! Steph is also the greatest ball handler along with Kyrie! No one else is even close. All Magoc could do is Pass!! LeBron is the best passer in nba history. So magic isn't even the best at what he does best! And Magic had an Ugly AF shot. Steph is going make the shot, any shot, any time you need it! Chris Paul is better than Jason Kidd, Jason Kidd is a better defender and that’s it cp is a way better scorer and a better passer Chris Paul averages more assist than Kidd and less turnovers. The nets run to the finals was overrated they only beat one 50 win team in those 2 playoff runs if Chris Paul played in the east he would’ve made the finals already. When Kidd was in his prime and he played in the west they won one playoff series in 7 years.

@@homeboy7753 Gary Payton was an historic (best) defensive point guard, but additionally, he was a good scorer and passer. In his time with the Seattle Supersonics, his style was to push the tempo. Defensively, he was terrific one-on-one and plays perimeter so well, even elite ball-handlers had trouble with him. I understand the loss against the 1996 Chicago Bulls, but himself and his team (other than 1998 Indiana Pacers) were the only eastern conference teams that could've eliminated them. It's just that the Chicago Bulls were consistently clutch.

Steph Curry is far more of a shooting guard than a point guard. Any other time everybody admits Golden State uses Draymond Green as their primary ball handling playmaker, which is why he leads their team in assists and NOT Steph Curry. Steph Curry needs to be on a list of shooting guards or combo guards like Reggie Miller and Ray Allen and Klay Thompson.

CP3 is better than Nash by a good margin. CP3 was a really good defender and a more aggressive scorer than Nash. I don't think it's a strech to say Nash wouldn't be an easy top 10 PG without D'Antoni. CP3 made teams at least formidable regardless of who was there. If you look at the advanced stats in the playoffs, their numbers are not that close.

I would say the gap is not that big for me he is one more ring or MVP away. Magic Johson is super great but people lessen stephs career for playing with KD for 3 years but praise magic johnson for playing with a top 5 greatest player of all time his whole winning career. Steph proved he can lead a team twice without a top 10 player in an era of evolved basketball.

By that logic, it means Magic, and J Kidd who often played with their backs to the basket, and scored in the paint aren't true point guards. It also means Jordan and Kobe, who frequently posted up and hit mid range shots aren't really 2 guards either. That makes all of them power forwards. The point guard's job is to optimize their teams offense exploiting defensive weaknesses. His ability to generate points with or without the ball is unprecedented. Positions within the NBA have evolved, bigs are spacing the floor, shooting three's. During the first round the nuggets ran a play against the Warriors, where Jokic came off of a screen and attempted a three. The Celtics were setting screens to get Horford open three's as well. The traditional definitions are becoming antiquated. Regardless of whether you think Steph is a 1 or 2, I'm taking him over every point guard in NBA history, and planning for numerous parades in June. When he retires there is a very good chance that he will have generated more points for his team, than anyone in NBA history. And when it comes to rings, the only player on that list that has more, is Magic, with 5. Isaiah-2 Oscar Robertson-1 Jason Kidd-1 John Stockton-0 I understand Magic, Isaiah, and possibly Robertson being on the list, but I'm taking Tony Parker over Kidd and Stockton.
