The breadth section for the Water and Environmental did not completely go away. The topics just got reallocated to other sections. Structural and Geometrics (in terms of traffic volume) were removed. The other breadth topics just got shifted around.

Could you please provide information about the new resource for someone who wants to take the PE exam after April 2024? Additionally, when will PPI update its resources for purchase?
@PassthePEExam
@PassthePEExam 8 месяцев назад
@rahimghoroubi7206 Thanks for your question. We will create a video about the process and share it on the channel shortly. PPI's PE Civil Live Online courses that start this January are fully updated to the new April version of the exam. Additionally, they will have updated OnDemand courses and Learning Hub products available by mid-January. I'd recommend their Live Online course as it will be the most comprehensive resource for the new exam, but if you are interested in the OnDemand or Learning Hub, you can check our the site sometime after January 10th and those options should be up by then. You can access their PE Civil offerings here: ppi2pass.com/pe-exam/civil

When will be do you think the new review boors available to reflect the new format
@PassthePEExam
@PassthePEExam 5 месяцев назад
@chocotv3573 Unfortunately, I can't predict the exact date new review courses will be available to reflect the new PE Exam format. However, I can offer some insights based on the current situation (as of April 8, 2024): The new PE Exam format with a discipline-specific focus rolled out in April 2024. Here's what you can do to find out when new review courses become available: **Check with established review course providers: They likely already have updated courses or are in the process of developing them. **Visit their websites or contact them directly for information on their new course availability. Some popular providers include PPI , and Kaplan. **Look for announcements from professional engineering societies: Organizations like the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) might announce new review course offerings tailored to the revised PE Exam format.

Does anyone know if you can take the PE test in two different depth areas? If I take the construction depth, but then make a career change, can I take the structural depth after? Can you hold two PE Civil Licenses with two different depth areas? Or would one become invalid after you are licensed in the second area
@PassthePEExam
@PassthePEExam 5 месяцев назад
@catherinemailloux4506 No, you cannot take the PE exam in two different depth areas at the same time. The PE Civil exam is structured to assess your knowledge in a specific area of practice. However, your situation has good options: Taking the Structural Depth Later: Absolutely! You can take the structural depth exam after passing the construction depth exam and transitioning careers. There's no restriction on when you can take the second depth exam, as long as you meet the general PE exam eligibility requirements (like passing the FE exam and meeting the experience requirement). Holding Two PE Licenses: Yes, you can hold two separate PE Civil licenses with different depth areas! Each license will be valid and allow you to practice engineering within its specific depth area. This can be particularly advantageous if your work experience encompasses both construction and structural engineering. Maintaining Both Licenses: Each state has its own license renewal requirements for professional engineers. These might involve continuing education or other activities. Make sure to stay updated on the renewal requirements for both of your PE licenses in the state(s) where you hold them. Here's a quick summary: PE Depth Exams: You take them one at a time, focusing on a specific area. Multiple PE Licenses: You can hold licenses in different depth areas. License Renewal: Each license requires independent renewal following state regulations. By strategically acquiring PE licenses in your areas of expertise, you can enhance your career prospects and professional versatility.

Does that mean that if I take the PE Civil test on water resources and environmental, all 80 questions will be related to water resources and environment?
@oleopathic

Same question.
@PassthePEExam
@PassthePEExam 8 месяцев назад
@LeonardoUV @oleopathic That's correct! Starting April 2024, the NCEES PE Civil Exam, including the Water Resources and Environmental Engineering (WRE) discipline, will follow a discipline-specific format. This means all 80 questions on the exam will be related to water resources and environmental engineering topics.

Hi, I am studying for my PE Civil Structures NCEES exam and was planning to take the exam end of 2024, but with the new spec exam update effective April 2024 they updated codes and standards. During the last period, I was studying using the codes posted in the current exam standards. Please advise me, should I take the exam on the current specs knowing that I am not fully prepared? or should I wait and start using the new standards knowing that I cannot afford to get all of these codes -shown in the April 2024 exam specs-?
@PassthePEExam
@PassthePEExam 8 месяцев назад
@Perdon7951 Deciding whether to take the PE Civil Structures NCEES exam before or after the April 2024 spec update is a complex situation with pros and cons for both options. Here's a breakdown to help you make an informed decision: Taking the exam on the current specs (before April 2024): Pros: Familiarity: You've already been studying with the current codes and standards, giving you a strong foundation in the material. Less time pressure: No need to rush to learn new codes before the exam date. Potentially easier competition: Some candidates might opt for the new format, reducing competition in the current format. Cons: Risk of outdated knowledge: Some questions might reference new codes, potentially putting you at a disadvantage. Limited practice materials: Fewer readily available practice tests and study materials focused on the current format. Stress of transition: You might still need to familiarize yourself with some aspects of the new codes for future licensure or projects. Taking the exam after the April 2024 spec update: Pros: Up-to-date knowledge: You'll be tested on the latest codes and standards, potentially making your skills more relevant in the job market. Access to new resources: More practice materials and study guides will be available for the new format. Potentially less competition: Fewer candidates might be familiar with the new format initially. Cons: Less study time: You'll have fewer months to prepare for the new format, requiring a more intense study approach. Learning curve: Adapting to new codes and standards can be challenging and time-consuming. Cost of codes: Purchasing all the required new codes can be expensive. Considering your situation: Your current level of preparation: If you feel confident with the current material and codes, taking the exam before April 2024 might be a good option. Your learning style: If you adapt well to new information and are willing to put in the extra effort, you might thrive with the new format. Your financial situation: Consider the cost of purchasing all the new codes before deciding. Ultimately, the decision is yours. Weigh the pros and cons of each option based on your individual circumstances and priorities. You can also talk to other engineering professionals or consult with PE exam preparation courses for their insights. Remember, there's no "one size fits all" answer. Choose the option that gives you the best chance of success and aligns with your goals. I hope this information helps you make an informed decision about your PE Civil Structures NCEES exam!

Doesn't the new curriculum still have the traditional Breadth topics?
@oleopathic
@oleopathic 9 месяцев назад
Same question.
@PassthePEExam
@PassthePEExam 8 месяцев назад
@HenryWilliams- @oleopathic The answer depends on which PE Exam you're referring to, as different organizations manage different professional engineering licensing exams and each has its own schedule for updates and changes. Here's a breakdown for some major PE Exams: NCEES PE Exams (USA): Starting April 2024, the traditional Breadth and Depth format is changing for several NCEES PE Exams, including Civil Engineering. The new format will be discipline-specific, meaning each exam will focus on a specific discipline within the engineering field. Therefore, the new format will not cover the traditional Breath topics, which were common to all disciplines within a certain PE Exam. You can find detailed information about the changes on the NCEES website: ppi2pass.com/resources/pe-exam/pe-civil-exam-changes Other PE Exams: For other PE Exams, such as those administered by different organizations or in different countries, the situation might be different. It's important to check with the specific organization responsible for the exam you're interested in to find out their curriculum and any upcoming changes. Here are some resources to help you learn more about specific PE Exams: NCEES: ncees.org/ PEBC (Canada): www.egbc.ca/ PEng (Australia): www.engineersaustralia.org.au/ IET (UK): www.theiet.org/ I hope this information helps! Tony, what's that new WRE section getting added in for Q2 2024 ?
@PassthePEExam
@PassthePEExam 8 месяцев назад
@oleopathic The good news (or bad, depending on your perspective!) is that there isn't actually a new section being added to the WRE (Water Resources and Environmental) PE Exam in 2024. Instead, the changes involve a significant shift in the overall structure and content of the exam. Here's a summary of the key changes: Focus on depth: Starting in April 2024, the WRE exam will only test "depth" content specific to water resources and environmental engineering, instead of including "breadth" topics shared across all civil engineering disciplines. This means topics like project planning, geometrics, hydraulics, and hydrology will no longer be covered. Fewer sections: The number of exam sections is reduced from 17 to 12, reflecting the narrower focus on depth. Areas like "Means and Methods" and "Structural Mechanics" are removed, while others are combined or renamed. Increased emphasis on certain topics: Some subjects, like water quality, water treatment, and environmental engineering principles, will see a greater weighting in the exam. Overall, the new WRE exam format requires a deeper understanding of core water resources and environmental engineering concepts and less focus on general civil engineering knowledge. To get a more detailed understanding of the changes, you can refer to the official NCEES specifications for the 2024 WRE exam: ppi2pass.com/resources/pe-exam/pe-civil-exam-changes. If you're planning to take the WRE exam in 2024, be sure to adjust your study plan accordingly to prioritize the new depth topics and familiarize yourself with the streamlined format. Several resources like updated study guides and practice exams are being developed to cater to the new format, so keep an eye out for those as well. I hope this information helps!
