I didn’t care for Necromunda until I seen the guys at the store playing a campaign and it looks super fun. But the prices are crazy even for gw. If they’d make a $50 starter they’d see a lot more ppl playing it I’m sure.
ya the game is a ton of fun, and the campaign is the real appeal. but i agree. you cant even buy a single gang box, and start playing. now you need a few boxes, some books, cards, its like $200-300 to start... you can get a 40k or sigmar army from the starter sets for that price. its no longer a cheap skirmish game. its just a small model count, expensive niche game. which kills the appeal for new players, unless you have a vibrant community of necromunda players
@@WarHammerMan To play the game you just need 2 boxes and your "House of..." book. If you want to go complete, maybe a brute/hanger on. Cards are totally optional. And from that price you don´t get a 40k/AoS army, but just a fraction of it. Necromunda has a lot of books and options, that´s true. But they are not needed to play. It´s like saying to be able to play D&D you need every book published with every monter, campaign, and expansion.
You just need the rulebook and the "House of.." of you gang of choice. I keep reading you need so many books, and it´s not true unless you want to play every gang and every campaign in the game. But that is also true for 40k, AoS or any other GW game.
ya you can play the individual gang, with the limited rules with only a book or two. but if you want any of the actual full gangs, you need the house books, the vehicle books, various campaigns. anyone who says otherwise is selling snake oil, wink wink
@@WarHammerMan Vehicles are not needed for inside the Underhive. just for Ash Wastes, which is by the way an expansion. It´s like saying I have to buy all the campaign books in 40k to play Apocalypse, Boarding Actions or Kill Team... Oh, wait, it´s exactly like that! To have a "regular" game of Necromunda you just need the RB and they House of... book of your gang. More than that, it´s just as optional as it can be. Anyone who says otherwise is selling snake oil, wink wink :D
@@amarokwargames6620 i know its an expansion, but also your example is terrible. apocalypse, boarding actions, and kill team are all completely different games. not expansions... you are correct that you can but a single starter box, and play a basic level of the game. but if you want to use 90% of the available content and models, you need to pick up multiple extra books, and expansions. all of games workshop games are set up, so you can buy a single box, and play a version of the game. but be honest, if you just pick up hive war, the current starter set for necromunda, does it include all the gang rules? or just the basic gangers? because pretending like this is all you're going to use is just that. you need the starter set, if you want to use any of the non basic gang models or rules, you need the house book as well. which is part of the game, its not an expansion, its literally the complete rules for the house. and opens up your gang to be able to use the full gang range, and characters. so dont pretend like we dont know what we're talking about. you're trying to build a case, based on a foundation made of sand. yes, the starter is enough to play the basic game, but if you want to "actually play" necromunda, you need multiple books, and ganger expansion packs, etc. so quit trying to sell snake oil, and just be honest lol
I feel like GW dont know what they want to do with necromunda. How to milk it and expand it in a way that makes more sales etc. its why the rules are a mess. Now that it has had some growing pains it does feel more stable. a new edition with fixes would be awesome.
ya i agree. they are def doing some great stuff with the upcoming releases, but the way the secundus box is priced, and what the actual game play is like, is make or break for necromunda... just like the last 3 big boxes, that failed to light the fire. i really want to see people excited for it in mass, and start playing. but GW keeps fumbling the ball on the 1 yard line.
prices its a big deal yes but there 2 to 3 month be for new stuff come's. plus secundus being a dnd best thing to for nceomunda such as name character's you have pride in only to see them lost in secundus never to be seeing ageing
ya i love the campaign aspect of necromunda. but that doesnt mean the game doesnt need a reset. it needs to start over. there is far too much bloat. tons of stuff isnt even available anymore. i do like the dungeon crawler aspect, but thats not going to solve the problem with needing an entire library to play with your 10-20 models.
I hear you but the truth that we all know gw dos not lean to keep it simple in one book but that will never happen & if am right there is seven or eight book's to come out be for we see 1 year of campaign book's so yes it will be bloat.
@@WarHammerMan I know, I'm just saying extortionate prices push people more toward 3d printing. How can a company justify a d6 costing £3.60 for just 1 dice! There's even only two "special" dice in the set which makes it even worse that they charge that rate when amazon can give you a bucket full of dice for similar price. I have 3d printed Necromundas special dice simply because i wont pay the cost of them.
The necromunder miniatures are so nice. I haven't played necromunder since the very first edition probably 20+ years ago. But i have bought a few newer necromunder minis that id love to use in 40k.
ya i'm with you. played tons back in the day. but every time we try to get it going again, it just flops harder than the time before. the models are great, the game needs a complete rework
in the lore, there are space marines in necromunda. mostly imperial fists, but its pretty cool. an actual space marine in necromunda would be god level, similar to what we picture, as the inhabitants of necromunda are very resource starved!
Yes definitely. 40k should follow AOS where all the small fantasy games figures can be used in the main AOS game. It makes your armies look more distinctive.
@@michaeljdauben which is explicitly the point of Necromunda as the original designers intended. Necromunda was to be a scenario unaffected by the wider 40k struggles.
Never heard of venators or outcasts eh? Hired guns and hive scum? Even npcs. You really do not get how necromunda works if you think there is no gang crossover. It's not warhammer with smaller units. It's pvp dnd, there is ment to be an arbiter and all games are ment to be stories.
