This week’s woodworking build video is a children’s size nesting chair out of walnut and white oak. This was a really cool build and it matches my large chair from Jay as well. I really can’t wait to see what you create! Let me know what you’d like to see next. Thanks for watching! Please like, comment and subscribe. Cheers!

To make the build look better, either use wood plugs to hide the screws or use “cabinet screws” the heads are rounded over. Looks good.

So does this mean April will make a Texas sized chair next? That'd be awesome. Mill a log down on her new Matt Cremona mill and make something Lily Tomlin could sit in. :)

Absolutely awesome result. I really like Jay's plywood chair, but one in white oak and walnut gives such a classy result too. Looks like Jay is just a bit cheap compared to you, Jonathan 😉 On a serious note, the result really is fantastic and Jay's design is absolutely spot on. I see many more of these plans being sold and rightly so too. Your goo does give a great finish too 😏

Such a nice chair. I built one a while back. Did not have the slots for slats so I used spacers.Used wood plugs on all the screws. It was a pain in the butt but worth it in the end. (so many opportunities for jokes). Made mine out of mahogany. Looks great but a bit heavy.

One problem i have with the notched legs design is if you want to make changes to the seat and/or backrest angle. If you want a lower seat angle, you need to lower the bottom brace of the backrest legs, but the notch interferes with that adjustment. Same issue with reclining the backrest more. Other than that they look great and the design is beauty-in-simplicity.

I seen something today that anyone with a table saw or bandsaw or really any tool that you want to get precise angles on. Use your smart phone with an inclinometer. Just build a jig as a holder and attach some rare earth magnets to it.

Definitely not. Then it'll get scratches and dents plus that stuff doesn't dry very fast so the peices will be slippery unless you want to wait until the next day to install.

I bought some of Jay's adult sized templates a couple of months ago. Still haven't had a chance to use them. But you aren't kidding about "no play"! It took me an hour to get them to snap together. Needless to say, they are not being disassembled ever again, but are in a safe place in my shed. I can't wait to get to use them. Still considering the child set, as they weren't available when I bought mine. I did notice your label on the package, though (as well as his own). Did he get them cut on your laser cutter?

@JackRockBLC
@JackRockBLC 4 года назад
@@JayBates Of course! I was actually at a craft show the day I'd ordered them. I made much more that day than I anticipated, so I very quickly dropped the $40 on a set of templates. To me, it was a no-brainer. I have a vision for my craft shows: That every single item would be built by me: Tables, chairs, bowls, wine displays, nostepinnes, yarn winders (most of my customers are knitters), etc. That chair design was the PERFECT design for what I'd wanted in a show chair.

The 1/4 round over bit does not remove enough material to allow the slat to fit tightly in the bottom of the fillet. I have to sand each slat before attaching it. Am I doing something wrong?

I am pretty sure that is a 1/2" round over, because that is the size of round over bit I had to use to get the slats to fit the leg rails. I started with a 1/4" round over and it was not even close to fitting. If you are putting it up against a 1/2" router bit shaft it is a 1/2" round over not a 1/4" round over. My set list them as round over size. Plus they are probably 20 years older then you. So how are round over bits listed?
