@@moto2442 Actually... you're right. I could see Atrioc literally jumping on the table screaming in their face that they're losers. That might be a bit of an exaggeration... but who knows? He was a pretty toxic league player back then.

ikr? I was thinking about the obvious flaw in big A's strat, someone with a short route is bound to beat you. The point efficiency you get isn't anywhere close to the amount of points you are throwing out the window from your tickets, especially if you get unlucky with longer (higher point) routes

Even the smallest tickets at like 5-7 points have a 10-14 point swing between completing and not completing them. Unless he's omitting the part of the story where he completed a route as he did this then I don't really believe that they were playing correctly at all.

Yeah it was a sketchy tale. It's fine to go for long sections as they give you more points per wagon, but you NEED to claim some choke points so the other players need to reroute or fail some tickets as well.

@@DNeonLamp You only have to keep 2 (maybe 1 depending on the version?) of the three tickets you draw at the start, so you can just ditch the high value ones, and the smaller value ones are gonna be the easiest to complete anyway. You could probably work on those with spare singles or pairs of trains while you're waiting for better colors to show up in the draw pool for your sixes. Also, if your ticket connects any places along the northern-western-mexican border, you're gonna get close to completing those just on the sixes alone, since there's so many sixes on those parts of the map.

@@vywsyou're supposed to lose points on the route if you don't complete it, which would completely negate the points that atrioc got if they did the scoring correctly

I think he might have omitted/forgotten that he eventually got some succesful tickets, or that the other players failed some tickets as well. Also, I'm not sure it ends the game that much faster.

Hi because u guys are rookies I will school you: You take the 2 lowest value tickets at the beginning and don't worry about completing them. Get as many 6 cost (15 points, more than a ticket) and 5 cost routes as possible. This is maximum train efficiency and will end the game hyper fast (also blocks other routes). Most people will not finish high value tickets, so your subtraction (small) will be lesser than theirs. Your point-to-train efficiency will be sky high and MASSIVELY outscore people taking 1/2/3 length routes. This will win you 90% of games of original Ticket to Ride if other people play normal. Also in the future assuming someone doesn't know the rules (played by a table of gamers at a gaming company) when you hear a new strategy is a buster ass way to think.

You can do what Atrioc did AND block the routes! :) Very OP strategy, good thing in the later games they made updates that basically nerfed this strategy
