As the owner of German cars.. all the features on the Kia are found in Mercedes, BMW and Audi. It's great that Kia has Euro features in it and drives like a German car which is another plus for a car that hold it's own, looks like nothing else on the road and can be modified tastefully. Great video..
Believe it or not I traded in from an 2019 AMG E63s for some money and a fully loaded 2022 Stinger GT2, as you say it has most of the features and for the price is well worth it. Just finished my first road trip and do miss a little of the AMG's handling, the extra power and the read window blinds. But the KIA is a great car at its price point. Think next move is to realize a little more of the available power and look at the rear suspension.
@@arendm9349 couldn’t say it better myself. Value wise, it’s a heck of deal. I will say, after messing with tuning and bolt ons, there is some real power and seat of the pants waiting for you. I just tuned my TCU and ECU stage 2, and it’s insane, also added some burbles to the exhaust to give it that amg bite. I’ll be dropping a vid soon on the ECU, but even the JB4 map 3 with e30 some intakes and cat back had me running 0-60 in 3.9
@@bennorthwood1719 I would say it’s more comparable with S5 sportback…Honestly I did a lot of research before pulling the trigger on Stinger since I wasn’t familiar with Kia brand and big fan of Audi brand. Interior: It’s a bigger car than S4 and a lot more comfortable plus it have a lot more options…I looked at all the stitching to find issues and didn’t find, looked at rattles and didn’t find as well…the nappa leather on Gt2 felt thicker than S4. The dashboard is covered in leather on Gt2 and S4 is plastic. Exterior: It’s hard to judge this car on pics or video till you don’t see it in person, definitely gets a lot of attention…people asking me all the time what car it is lol. Performance: It’s a big car but when I drive it it doesn’t feel as big…compared to S4/S5 I would say it feels a little bit faster but not by much…I would say S4 was better in tacking corners (less weight and Quattro). Didn’t got to test in snow yet. In the end I would say you need to put all aspects in consideration like price, maintenance and warranty…in today’s market I was lucky that I bought this car on MSRP price…where for a new Audi s4/s5 you will get charged MSRP +5k over so overall 15k-20k more then top trim Stinger which will probably same options as an s5 or even more. At the end I can say that there’s some issues that I don’t like, like having an analog display but for the price I can live with that lol. I would say if you are considering one to get go and test drive it just don’t tell your friends or you might get laughed at they don’t know what Stinger is so might think that is regular Kia from 10 years ago. Hopefully this helps in your decision.
@@3000gtVic Thats an awesome reply thank you. I am coming from a Mk2 TT, not a new Audi but still was looking at A5 Sportbacks, but as you say you have to spend alot of money to get similar tech. I am in the lucky position where i can get a brand new GT2 tax free in the UK for 31k GBP, which is around $36k. I could get a mid range A5 Sportback for 4-5k more, but not as much tech, and really - its nothing special. I've seen an earlier 2019 model in person, that was nice - but looking forward to seeing the new one when i get it in July!
@@3000gtVic Def agree it compares more to the S5 Sportback, that’s pretty much the only other car I’d take over the Stinger (assuming money is not in the question lol) or the M340i but it’s not a hatch
Yea I got a 21 gt..and got that shifter and the sunroof...wanted a gt2...but with availability...I told wife for years I just want the motor and awd...so I jumped on it...didn't wait for the extra features...and saved like 5,000
@@randomguy8228 same engine but the Genesis is lighter** weight and comes standard with an LSD. Also, look at the Genesis as a Lexus if the Stinger was a Toyota. More luxury and more engineering behind the quality and craftsmanship, price will reflect that as well. Beautiful cars though
Honestly for 22 GT1 is best bang for your buck IMO. I’ve had mine for a month and freaking love it. The new Kia logo is dope. Kia is on the come up for sure
@@Whatuptee no pre 22 didn’t have adaptive cruise and lane following assist. The new interior and screen was a game changer for me as well. They don’t allow certain options (like HK stereo upgrade) on GT1 so that you have to buy a GT2 tho
@@Whatuptee no actually, they deleted those features beginning in 2022 from the GT1. I have a 2020 GT1. I have adaptive cruise, lane keep, the Harmon kardon system, heated and ventilated up front (none in back), etc. I’m missing the nappa leather, heads up display, power trunk, and heated rear seats only. Now the GT1 is missing quite a bit compared to the GT2.
My 2021 GT1 has the boost, torque and oil temp gauges but they are horizontal and that's what I leave on the small screen, at all times. There are buttons I haven't even pushed yet. I prefer the T shifter because it's retro, like me (lol) and it is lined up perfectly for my hand and forearm. My old sports cars were like this. We drove with one hand on the wheel and the other was on the shifter or radio volume knob! Another good video! Keep it up bro.
@@brn0ut4ever86 I would've made a video if I felt like I had something different to offer. It's just a stock GT1. Besides, someone has to make crappy guitar videos, lol.
My favorite GT2 only feature is something you didn't get a chance to check out since it was daytime; the dynamic/swiveling headlights. This is something every model should have had. It's a huge help when cornering at night and, well, it just looks cool when they do a test run at startup. 😂
Nice! My Lexus IS350 and GS350 had those, one of the motors burned out though and was like $1200 since there was no way to fix it I had to get a whole new light assembly. was def a nice luxury though
I didn’t even know about this! Lol awesome, I wonder if that is what that little scroll knob is on the left panel? Something about headlight adjustment
Yes; my BMW 135is had those with Xenon lamps. If ever a lamp needed replacement, the whole unit needs to be replaced at a typical Bring My Wallet price. Fortunately, I didn't have to deal with that issue. Others issues for sure, just not that one.
I agree, I like the wheels on the original Stinger better as well as the tailights and the smaller exhaust tips. Yeah the cosmetics looks better on the original but the refresh interior is definitely better. Eh they say you can't have it all.
Exterior to me the exhaust tips are the only good thing. The light bar tail lights makes it look like a charger, whereas the old ones were constantly getting confused with a Maserati. Idk about others but I rather get confused for a Maserati than a charger. Interior is definitely better tho
Just bought a 2022 GT2 AWD today. They just got it on Saturday and wasn't in their system yet. Because it hasn't been through its receiving, we have to wait til tomorrow to pick it up. It's the blue with the beige interior. Our first Kia so we will see how it rides. :)
Congrats!!! You will be very happy , been over a year and this is the only car where I’m still excited to drive it after that long, esp with the tunes it’s an animal
Picked it up yesterday, but we live 4 hours from the dealer so we stayed the night in reno. It was amazing driving home! So much to learn about all the things this car has in it. Have to take it back to the dealer in 2 weeks because they didnt put the tint on the windshield like we asked. Really nice car. The blue really catches your eye.
The 21 GT1 is the best bang for your buck! I’ve got all these features minus the larger 22 10.25” screen, I have the upgraded 8” screen (same screen as the older 18-21 GT2 Only things I’m missing from a GT2: -HUD -NAPPA leather -Heated rear seats -Power hatch -thigh support The removed the GT trim for 22 and made the GT1 the base model. I still have a sunroof, the full gauge screen like the GT2s, power seats, memory seats, cooled front seats, auto dimming mirrors, self driving, auto headlights, rain sensing wipers, blind spot alert. Go look at a 21 GT1 Nick! Paid $47K and some change for my 21 GT1 RWD, a AWD one would be closer to $50K
No, actually All features are the same on the GT two and the scorpion. The only difference is the packaging, personally I prefer the GT2 and I opted not for the scorpion package because I am not a fan of black out wheels and trim. They tried to get me to purchase the scorpion package but I think the original wheels and everything looks much better. Mine is the 2022 GT2 all wheel drive with the red, Napa leather interior, but to each his own(right)
@@harrymason5032 no, sorry your wrong. The other upgraded options on the scorpion beside the black wheels are the carbon fiber notes on the interior and the gloss black exterior body parts including the exhaust tips. Dude your non scorpion is without doubt gorgeous but in my opinion the scorpion looks more custom. Cheers
Those are not upgraded options those are just package options. Tell me what is more fully loaded as far as Mechanical or value upgrades or anything besides physical attachments
I just got a 2019 stinger base awd. I'm coming from a 2011 corolla. have had this stinger for a week. I don't see many stingers in my city. looking to replace the emblems and add those carbon fiber paddle shifters and that's about it. the car is beautiful.
Congrats man! I’m doing a giveaway for the E badge emblem , HKS plugs and throttle tune. It’s a beautiful car, I have links below If you ever want to browse what’s out there for these, carbon paddle shifters I love. Thanks for the view and comment bro 😎
@@B1ackAlloy1992 😂 when I got mine I was only going to do the intakes… 4 months later I started a RU-vid channel and got an exhaust to balance the intake sound, then JB4, then….. doesn’t stop
@@twn2rbo yes it is ridiculous. Tbh the GT was a builder car is how I looked at it. GT1 prior to the refresh was absolutely a steal! But I just wanted to build and have fun with this car. I officially hit the point where I’m content with the exterior and performance! Officially done unless I get rims 🙃🙃🙃 add it to your list 😂
Good to know, yeah that’s one nice thing about the throttle tune, it has a real valet mode and it’s not very expensive. I leave mine in sport 5 and it’s perfect. How the car should have came
I was curious to see what you thought about the new upgrades. That being said I still think you got a great deal for yours. Also some good news, I finally got my 2022 G70 3.3T Sport Prestige! Man I am satisfied with my choice. I picked it up on Friday and I already put 200 miles on it by Saturday night. I literally drove it all day (1pm to 12:30am) with the boys and I had no fatigue or back pain at all, and I used about 7gal of gas. Of course I was very light footed and drove almost exclusively in ECO mode, cause I want to break it in the right way...but you know I had to give it a little juice in Sport+ around 10:30pm on a Saturday lol. I'm so damn happy about my choice and every time I try a new thing, like; Sport+, Cruise with LKA, etc. the car just gets better and better. I haven't even used the paddles yet, can you image such a thing?
I just picked up my 2022 GT here in Australia, took 8 months to get here. We still get the sunglasses holder but no garage door buttons on the rear view mirror. And like Canada, we get the big new KIA logo on the rear as well.
It’s interesting how they do different things in each country, I love the white clear corner headlights over seas, I may end up doing those here. I want to have a true to the roots Stinger as possible from South Korea
Mark up’s are nuts right now, I refuse to make a move. It’s tempting to get more than I paid for my car, but then I would be over paying for something else
I've been wanting one of these ever sense they came out. About a month ago I was lucky enough to pick up a 2022 Scorpion Edition, love the carbon fiber trim that it came with. Nick it's because of your video on the Tuxmat floor liners that I bought myself a pair. Much more luxurious than all the other brands and the pattern even matches the new seat design. What did you do to black out your top and bottom grills in the front? I don't remember seeing you do that in your other videos. Keep up the good work!!!
Scorpion is a rare bird! Nice So I was on the search for matte black parts to replace the black chrome and didn’t find any so I ended up blacked them out with plasti dip, it’s been holding up well with no bubbles or anything. It’s a tedious process and takes about 6 coats though. I’ve considered carbon fiber off the GTS too. Thanks for the comment 👊
E badge is original equipment from Kia in South Korea. United States comes with different logo. It is a genuine Kia Motors part if you order it though.
2022 Stinger come out after my 2021 Stinger purchase and I was upset because I wanted the new features but then I realize at the time I got the Stinger they where giving it away with 6k of MSRP. I wouldn’t have not got a discount for the new model! New Stinger 2022 rims look better in black car and black Stinger rims look better with 2022 Stinger with gray accents!
Just bought me a 2022 GT2 AWD, A lot of features were missed that definitely make the 12k more worth it! Problem is trying to find one for MSRP since production has stopped making them. ( Tried to order one last week, dealership was told by production isn’t accepting anymore orders).
I ordered mine a month ago and they told me over a year wait in Australia. They retail here about 70k. Any dealer who has one in their lot is asking closer to 80k.
@@arry7474 insane!! This is a very weird time, I’m a mortgage underwriter and sellers / agents are doing the same crazy stuff asking $30-60k over asking price and people are doing it. Not many but they are. I don’t trust it so I’m adding some new streams of income in the meantime
They have started announcing information about the 2023 Stinger Scorpion replacement. I have heard that orders for 2022 version are being automatically replaced for 2023. Sounds like you might need to find a different dealership.
I bought my 2nd gen GT1 as soon as it was available which was also right before the markups started happening. I wanted the updated exterior over everything else. Upgraded from a 2018 Base and I regret nothing.
1. Rear Heated Seats 2. SUNGLASS holder :-( 👎 3. Variable Exhaust 4. Wireless Car Play, Android Auto. MISSING Sucks. Come on Kia include that in the 2023 model 5. In Dash Turn Signal Screen. 6. Daytime running lights changed 7. Can't think of anything else off the top of my head
Love your background music ... really suits to this car and your style Bring some link. BTW. Your stinger - outside - crazy, one of the best mods not too much, exact to prove the style
For sure, I love Audi design and their AWD systems, but reliability / cost of ownership isn’t the best, for a few grand in performance mods this thing is running 0-60 in 3.7 😎
Thank you for this video I’ve been looking for a comparison video just like this because I’ve been looking for the stinger with your taillights i love the shape don’t love the new bar they did on the new stingers
Same, the only thing I like better on the refresh is the infotainment screen, but the 2021 comes with a decent screen if you get the GT1/GT2, I have the base GT so I have a very basic one
The GT2 Scorpion package has a few more upgrades. Rear spoiler, unique styled black rims, Carbon fiber accents inside, Blacked out exhaust tips, cargo net, trunk mat, blacked out side mirrors, blacked out fender garnish and embroidered stinger floor mats.
I’m going to get my hands on one and do an actual planned review , and drive it. I may start reviewing twin turbo cars on this channel but plan them out with a consistent flow. All my vids are freestyle
I own a 2018 GT1 Hi-Chroma Red with red seats. Love it! Black chrome is a terrible idea because it requires constant care to appear clean and attracts water spots like crazy. Older wheels and tail lights are better. Newer exhaust tips look cheap/fake.
Interesting take. I have a 2019 GT2 and alot of the features that are in the 22 are in the GT2. I have your red leather seats. How much better is the leather on the 22 compared to yours?
Tbh it’s a little stiffer but the leather is thicker and feels of higher quality and is also softer to the touch. I almost want to say mine is more comfortable to sit in, but the Nappa leather is of higher quality and construction and design looks better imo.
I have a 2021 GT1 stinger purchased brand new $42K that has @90% of what the 2022 has.. including sunroof...lane keep assist. the only thing it does not have is have is auto lift tailgate and digital display for speedometer on windshield and I do not have rear climate seating..but Front seats have both Cooled and heated.
I have a 2022 gt2 I love everything about it mines was actually 2k cheaper than the msrp. I traded my 2022 gt line stinger in for gt2 best decision ever!
I have a Mexican Stinger GT 2019, I have all the features that the 2022 has, but instead of having the Big screen, it has a 9in screen, instead of having aluminum it has carbón fiber, it also has the extending leg support, it has the HUD, it has the sunroof, hidding cup holders, got it two months ago for the equivalent of 27K, also the Méxican stinger the headlights don't have amber reflectors, they are clear
Nice! I love those headlights too, that’s how they come in South Korea where it’s made. I’m considering getting those but they are like $1400 I think 🤔
I love this question. I am a Lexus enthusiast as my last 3 cars were from them. The Stinger uses smaller turbos which give you a similar feeling with the down low torque, but stock vs stock the IS500 is faster 0-60. That is if you have traction and a proper launch. That does 0-60 in 4.3 I believe where the Stinger is 4.7. Lexus makes a better car in terms of build and construction and you also have the brand prestige. Looks are subjective so that would be up to you. The Stinger is a bigger car for sure and more versatile with the seats folded down and has an option for AWD like mine. Now if you modify the Stinger is a different story. Mine would run circles around the IS500 both low and top end, esp with the new TCU and ECU tune I just installed. Finally, nothing beats the sound of a V8, esp that 5.0 Lexus uses. It’s bulletproof.
@@cindykeselowski899 for sure, Lexus parts are more expensive but I always took mine to Toyota for service and it wasn’t that bad. I’m very happy with the Stinger, but I also love Lexus.
I have a kia stinger GTS 2019 (2.2 turbo) bought in the UK. Weirdly mine is very identical to the GT2 which is strange considering mine is an older model that the other GT 2021. All the newer features he was talking about I already have?
I have a 2019 GT2 and it does have a sunglass holder. Strange they would remove that feature on the 2022 GT2. No wireless Carplay in the Stinger, though it's in the K5 lower trim. That is a much larger sun roof.
Exterior...Wheels: Older ones look better. Rear tail lights: Both look great, just different. Exhaust tips: New larger ones look better. Rest of the car is basically the same. Interior: New GT2 is obviously much nicer with nicer seats, nicer infotainment and all around way better tech. The price difference comes down to your budget, but both are great bangs for the buck for what you get in a luxury sport GT car that competes with the Germans. Biggest seller for the Kia brand is better warranty, better reliability, better cost-to-own...all at a better price.
Nice content, I was very close to buy a Stinger GT but eventually got a Caddy CT5-V 3.0TT, I really hate the fake vents on the hood and fenders, other than that, it's very nice priced, especially have the all sueded interior. I guess the Caddy just feel more premium, I also think the build quality is better. Looks are personal. I think Stinger exterior looks like BMW in a very werid way.
If you wanna see a killer interior, check out that Canadian stinger! Suede package is sick! You can opt in for red contrast stitching and red seatbelts. Lovely, IMO
I have the fully loaded G70 version. I really like the 360 camera since I like to pull up to parking spots that have curbs so I can pull way over to the left to avoid door dings. The camera really helps in that respect so you don’t get curb rash on your wheels. I think for that alone the increase in price is worth it. The other things are subjective - the sunroof I could do without since I’m just not a sunroof guy. The HUD is super nice and works with the navigation via turns but I wish it had a tach on it. I had to switch from polarized sunglasses which I’ve worn my whole life to non-polarized because I tend to use the HUD a lot now. The seat coolers are just awesome bar none. My brother has one of those convertible bmws with the Kevlar roof which is similar in respects to the G70/Stinger but bmw packs in a bit more tech and a full lcd dash. The leather is a bit better in the bmw and I have that Napa leather in mine. I got the G70 for its reliability and cost to own vs a bmw it’s no contest. I do think that Genesis dealers are far below what you would get at the luxury brands and I’d assume KIA is similar. They really need to step up their game in that respect because these are not cheap cars.
@@samarai5817 I got mine off Carvana last June. It’s the 3.3 Sport edition RWD. 46,000 before taxes and it had 13k miles on it. The G70 is a lesser known car so it doesn’t get the demand the Stinger has but interest and Covid may have increased pricing since. The G80 pricing looked pretty good if your ok with a slightly bigger car too. Good luck.
But plenty of pad options that are vastly superior to the junk pads they gave us from the factory. I got mine from R1 Concepts, along with drilled/slotted rotors. Now the big girl stops smoothly on a dime.
I really don’t like the looks of the 22. Exhaust tips are oversized and goofy looking. Rims look like weird stars. Liking the 21 better from basic aesthetics.
Actually you can get the GT2 upgraded to the scorpion package. If you include all your mods you paid more than 43k also. Plus a 22 is gonna be more than a base 21 for sure. Also the exhaust is variable now. Plus all the safety features you get on the 22 GT2 or Scorpion and heads-up display, 10 inch screen, sun roof that you don’t get on a base 21. Your car is sick though dude like your mods.
Damn I live in Indy too! The Kia stinger is by far my favorite car I want to own next. Have a 2014 Kia Optima I’m dying to trade in for a Stinger GT1 or 2 for the right price.
Love the 21 taillights for sure, interior is my fav on 22+ but I was in same position bro, not worth loosing the money to upgrade the same car. The engine and trans are same
Adro V2, it just came out. Heads up it is the most expensive front splitter out there and it’s 2 pieces , www.adro.com/products/kia-stinger-gt-carbon-fiber-v2-front-lip
Funny thing MY2018 has the features of this guys 2022 one bar the nivo system and different rear light...American models must have several different levels price point.
Mines a 21 GT as well, base line, Canadian version though. Def feels like Kia cheaped out on US market, at least for the base GT model cuz mine has the shift by wire shifter, power lift rear gate and sun roof. However mine still came with the small centre cluster display like yours and I absolutely hated that it doesn’t have oil temp information, absolutely hate it. The sports gauge is the ONLY feature I’d love to have from the GT1/2 models. Everything else… I don’t give a single damn about them. And stingers are a LOT more expensive in the US cuz mine costed 47k Canadian which is roughly around 37k USD and we get few more features too. But anyways thanks for the video and it really shows me that 12k more really isn’t worth it. I rather get a base line with less feature but $12k cheaper but I get the same power train. Lol
It appears the base GT is no longer an option on Kia’s website. I see GT-Line, GT1, GT2. So I’m thinking GT1 with more features is the new base here in us.. At the time of purchase I saw a great value proposition for 43k off the lot new. I figured I could make it really nice with adding some new mods with the difference and I have AWD for the snow 😁
@@canocardonapr I’ve seen some Alcantara roofs, wheels but not sure on the dash. Are you in the US? There’s a lot of rare variants out there, I like the chocolate interior ones.
I want this car so bad but they don't have no more available bevause of the global chip shortage so I can't even buy it in the color I want it in or trim and that sucks
Being a heavier car with Michelin PS it does ok, tuned starts to become a problem though, first gear spins bad. I have AWD on mine which plants quite well.
It was removed in favor of the UVO Kia Connect Feature. Gives the GT2 the ability to be controlled (lock/unlock, start, set climate controls, and some other stuff) from a mobile device.
Both look good, black is a classic but is a complete pain to keep looking great all the time, the clear coat isn’t the best on these cars, that’s no secret, so black will require paint correct more often of course, esp if you go through automatic car washes.
