Wrong, ffs, watch the new one again, paragus never mind controlled broly now, he just electrocute him if he went over with his aggression. Paragus and Broly actually cared for each others, while paragus may have turned broly into a weapon for his revenge that is IMO just secondary to paragus, paragus really cared for broly now (he actually wanted broly to stop fighting and flee from there after he thought broly was no match for vegeta, if paragus didn't care he could just left him there) and broly actually respect his father, that's why he went ssj after freeza tricked him into believing that he killed his own father.

@@fandommusings5302 as a die hard Dragonball fan I thought the movie was pretty good, but I'd never call it the best movie ever, (even though I've seen it in theater's 3 times.) But here are my issues with the movie. One: while Broly is an actual character now, his character is just Disneys Tarzan in Dragonball, that's pretty much all he was. Making his character scenes quite boring to me honestly. Two: the first 30 minutes. Now don't get me wrong I really enjoyed seeing planet Vegeta and the saiyans, buuuut I really didn't need the Dragonball Minus rectcon that just turns my favourite character in the franchise into Superman. That just annoyed me, but I liked the rest of that portion. Three: The beginning argument between Goku and Vegeta. Now while I did find this scene funny, I really didn't like how they made Goku as stupid as he was throughout all of Dragonball Super. I know he's always been dim and naive, but it was always to the degree where it was charming. But Super made him so dumb that it was really annoying. Luckily his characterization was pretty much spot on for the rest of the movie, I particularly loved the scene where he's holding Broly back and trying to calm him down. And I also loved the ending scene he shared with Broly. Four: the ending fight was really anticlimactic. Now I for one am really glad Broly's still alive and sticking around, but I think they should've done it this way. They should've had Gogetas Kamehameha actually hit and kill Broly, but then use the Dragonballs to bring him back. Because this would do two things better than how the wish was actually handled in the movie. One: it would make the end of the fight actually satisfying. Two: it would give Broly an actual reason to be reverted back to his normal state, rather than be in his SSJ Berserk form. Because last I checked wishing for someone to go to another planet, doesn't include bringing someone out of a berserker rage and back to their base form. But yeah those are my gripes with the movie, I still had a blast watching it everytime though, so all in all I'd call it a success.

@@izukumidoriyaisssss3049 One: Fair enough. Two: Also fair enough. Three: Goku's always been a complete idiot. The DBZ anime toned it down, and the dub toned it down even further. I don't know how accurate Super's Goku is to the original DB manga version but I can totally buy him not knowing what repugnant means... Though that may be the DBZA fan talking. Him not realising Frieza could get stronger than them is more his arrogance than his stupidity, and that's not a Super thing. Gohan Vs Cell is probably the biggest example of this. Four: Heartily disagree. I was already hoping Broly would survive the film before going in, but after seeing how sweet and adorable this version was, that became the main source of tension in the fight for me. And when Gogeta started brutalising him, that only amplified. Watching Broly realise he was about to die (which is what snapped him out of it, his eyes returned to normal when that Kamehameha launched, and they were full of fear) only for him to be saved last second actually felt like a victory. Killing him only to resurrect him would have felt like a cop-out.

Kale. Kale is his place in the story, especially with the theories about a U6 arc. Also Frieza, since he clearly has future plans for him.

@@balrog0444 Kale is not because that is before Broly was added to the continuity. Now Broly is his own character, much more interesting that Kale, as she is just some shy girl that clings on to Caulifla and occasionally loses her shit. Frieza himself is becoming a boring character, or played out. He had his time in DBZ, now in Super, he's just there. Only so many times you can use the same villain before it becomes dull.

@@ericksantos4555 I meant that if a U6 arc happened Broly could come along and meet his counterpart, learn to control his power like she did and get some more character development for both of them. Disagree about Frieza, but that's opinion.

@@balrog0444 He could tag along, but it could also be written without him. He has no connection to any of the U6 Saiyans and meeting Kale wouldn't do anything for his character. He could learn far more from Goku than from Kale. Do you disagree because you like Frieza? or do you disagree because you actually believe that he adds something to the story? If it's the latter, why?

Love how he died, he died like how he killed that Saiyan on Vampa, he deserved it.

@@prl4122 Goku is still unique though, even if in a completely different way Superman and others of that archetype are sent to Earth as if Earth were a special planet, with them as "chosen ones" who are meant save the special people from Earth. Goku in DBS Broly is a survivor, who's sent there out of paranoia, precisely because they didn't think he'd survive in any other place that's not such an undeveloped planet. I think that's just as good as his previous backstory

When he did this, he granted Shenron the ability to grant three wishes instead of one. I thought it was mainly because they used up 2 wishes of Shrenon during Battle of Gods and Super and that they didn't use the 3rd wish.

Broly wasn't happy with Paragus' death because 1) he's not actually insane in this movie 2) Paragus had been the only person in his entire life, so even if Paragus saw Broly as nothing more than a weapon to be used, Broly on other hand had no experience dealing with any other sapient being other than his dad. It makes 100% sense for him to think that what his father was doing with all the electric collars and shit was just normal instead of abusive. He didn't know any better, and his father was the person who trained and raised him. Loyalty achieved. Paragus mentioning that Broly is gonna kill him doesn't support anything, Paragus for fearful for his life because he knew Broly would eventually get lost in his rage and he'd be unable to distinguish friend from foe if not brought under control quickly enough. You said it yourself, Broly doesn't act on his own accord, just on his father's wishes and his blinding rage. And because Broly was utterly loyal to Paragus, he would not make the concious decision to kill Paragus. Regarding the electric collar, ever heard of conditioning? Broly was conditioned to fear the electric collar and the remote because it caused him pain, although it probably caused no actual physical damage. Yes, after Broly went to his Wrath state the collar would do jack shit to him, hell it probably wouldn't even hurt him anymore, but he didn't know that. Just the sight of the remote would be enough to make Broly subservient to Paragus.

Fizzbizz your Paragus argument is debatable, it’s not clear cut. Paragus casted away/hurt Broly’s only friend. And the line he said was clearly referencing himself, not everyone ( in Japanese at least) so it could go either way on this topic. Of course I know about conditioning but it just doesn’t ( shouldn’t?) apply to someone stronger than a God. I see no argument there making this better than the old version. I get that they used it to make Broly looked like a wild animal and give us empathy for him, but in the end it would have worked better with an abstract tiara ( less plot holes). Actually I think they should have swap the behavior of the two Paragus, it would have been more consistent with the plots. Original Paragus doesn’t hurt Broly with the tiara, he just calms him down and he is less a dick than the new one, yet he gets killed by Broly. The new one is a douche ( except at the beginning but then it creates consistency problems with his character later on the movie), he hurts Broly and his friend Bah, but yet we are supposed to believe that Broly loves him. But anyways maybe we are looking too deep on what it is. A really good action anime movie and they got that part right.

@@mattcarter1781 I mean, I don't really agree with the sentiment that the new Broly's just a hulk, since we got a pretty significant amount of time just seeing him talk in the movie, and his upbringing and relationship with his dad were fairly well explored. But regardless my main point was that he's MORE of a character than the original Broly who really was definitely nothing more than a hulk. Of course when I said "objectively" it was with some sarcasm, but I do stand by the notion that if you were to compare the characters of the two Brolys, the new one definitely has more points of note to his name.
