New Bronco dosen't stand up

I bought my '69 Bronco in 1981 when I graduated high school and it is still one of my regular drivers, I think I'll stick with it.

It's refreshing to see the younguns willing to get their hands dirty. Good on ya Abby and good on you dad.

Ahh yes.....new "offroad" vehicles....they're riddled with plastic, sometimes a sheet metal bumper,electronics and no real tow points. Ill stick with my 82 k5 thanks.

My whole life I've wanted a 72 Bronco after having so much fun as a kid riding around with some long gone friends in one.

We had one in the shop a few weeks back, impact on the RR tire, didn't even damage the rim. Bent the rear axle housing and the Panhard bar. You could SEE the camber on the RR wheel due to the bent axle housing, and the whole axle assembly was displaced an inch and a half to the left due to the pretzeled Panhard bar. Plus, the immense inertia of the huge beadlock wheel/tire combo hanging on the rear gate bent the body shell where the gate hinges attach. Offroad vehicle, eh? Nah, just a lookit-me!!! mall-crawler.

Hey Eric, Miss Abby seems to be right at home at the back of that wrecker. Won't be long before she is wheelin Mom and Dad's wreckers.

Eric you have a daughter like my oldest! She was always with me, on the motorcycle, in the shop, out on recovery adventures! She'll be 36 this year, and had worked as a millright for the last 12 years!

Say what you will about Gene, he DOES have a sense of humor. A Jeep owner, on a first name basis with his service manager at the dealer, ragging on a Bronco owner about reliability. Priceless!

Typical, new bronco owners don't realize all they purchased was an image. Then take it off road and worry about a scratched bumper....

You need to get Bronc busters tie rod trail fix

I've seen several videos showing the pitiful design of the Bronco's front suspension. There is even a trail repair kit I've seen on one for the tiny tie rods. If you have the money to buy this overpriced toy, spend enough to upgrade before you go off the pavement. You have a great apprentice working with you. Go Abby!

Ok so yes the bronco break tie rods, but that being said I am yet to see one broken on a stock setup, Sasquatch or not, Basically if you are going to change the geometry you need to upgrade the tie rods, Also starting with the 24's the Sasquatch package come with the hoss 3.0 steering and tie rods

please remind your daughter to always be alert where she grabs or places her hand with moving metal parts.

Folks with the bronco’s…. Do the upgrades to the front end before you take it off pavement, they don’t completely eliminate the piss poor design issue but they do make it slightly more reliable… that or just carry the parts and tools to replace everything about every 100 yards or so.

I don’t know how Frond made the Bronco so weak. They made the Raptors for years. The off road experience was there

A lot of off road vehicles are built or modded. Stock anything is good for soft roading. That is just as true today as it was decades ago.

this bronco needs the bronco buster tie rods supports that help reinforce the stock parts and would have allowed for the bronco to drive itself out once it was pulled off the obstacle

Nothing beats an old square body GM. They look way better than anything new too.

If you go off roading on rough trails bring 1 or 2 high lift Jack, a shovel, and a come along. Along with a few 20 foot strong straps and a 100 foot rope. Self recovery takes longer when you really dig yourself deep stuck. It’s easy and quicker when you don’t dig your tires so deep… Bring those items and you won’t need to call a recovery truck.

That's one where the rubber straps would be nice to have on the sling!, Crap I even have a sling I carry on the old L-800, Holmes are my favorite tools!!

They need to get a set of the bronc buster tie rod stiffeners ,from what I've seen they work well.

Not one of them had a shovel and some wood planks with grip tape for under the tires. You can even use a small loading ramps from harbor freight. Rookies

I used to run them old sling type wreckers. This guy should have 2x4s and 4x4 lengths of wood to use under the front to keep the chains and pivot bar off the towed vehicle. I towed 60s Camaros and mustangs this way no problem.

Nice work getting that heavy beast out of there. The new Broncos' front end issues are well known to everyone but new buyers and some current owners it appears. Upgrade them or keep spares and tools to avoid the drag of shame. Nice to see Abbey working with you.

I had a 78 GMC Jimmy with a small block 400 in it four-wheel drive with 1636's tires that vehicle was virtually unstoppable, drove around Northern Michigan in 3 foot of water with no problem!

I used to drive an old ‘78 Chev tow truck with a Holmes 440 tow body on it. It had wide reinforced rubber pads to cushion where the chains are coming into contact with the bumper in their case. That setup worked quite well,

You should mount a rear camera on that bad ass old wrecker, I think it would help you out alot and help keep a eye on what your towing out of these hard places!

She broke a tie rod or cv joint. Straight solid axle is always the best choice for off roading

The new bronco has the same fatal off-road flaw that the FJ did, lack of a straight axle.

That recovery went fairly smooth. Too bad that the bronco got stuck because of weak parts for an off road rig.

IFS is good for the better ride and most of the time it is fine. Solid front axles are stronger, but they break sometimes too...Nice, your daughter knows what she is doing and helps out.

I can't imagine how she thought the poor Bronco was going to go over that rock with that approach. She didn't even know the steering was toast and that front end was off the ground as she tries to steer it. Completely out of touch. She probably just sat in her seat and expected everyone to serve her needs.

another recovery well done...i do have to say this though..there are off road buggies and trucks then there is this plastic thing that they call a off road machine..if you're gonna off road a vehicle make dang sure it's built for that environment..we have built a few jeeps for off roading and trails and then we also have our nice daily drivers..gotta build for what you're gonna do with the machine

Guess weve found the broncos limits 😂 i love when he said "well its not a jeep" 😂😂 these new vehicles that claim off road capable are seriously hit or miss a buddy of mine bought a kia telluride i believe its spelled and tried to proceed with following my jeep thru a mud hole....2 hours later we finished towing it from the trails because he wouldn't hear me out that my jeeps purpose built for water electrical components like the pcm have been relocated to a water proof box everything that couldn't be moved somewhere extremely high or into a water tight container is frequently reshot with marine grade grease to keep water out....good recovery fellas

Tried to do the same thing with an old ford station wagon, and the same thing happened. Seems ford has improved at all since the 80s

It's funny the Bronco has a stock lifting it tires bumpers and everything else. And you look at all these jeeps. I got all these after the market parts on it

I'd worry about the airbags in something like that. Do you pull a fuse before towing?

Wish they still made the same Bronco that they made back in the 60s. They could add a CD player, but all of that other computer driven nonsense serves no real purpose in my opinion other than driving up costs. I own a compass and can land navigate. It was a good machine and you could work on it yourself. We put many muddy miles behind the main levee of the mighty Mississippi river on them with no complaints. Yes one had to grease bearings, and all that goes with water and mud but they did pull and hold up. The old International Scouts with a little help did quite well also. The Jeep was always there. We even had them from Korea War days.

If you can't do it with out damaging it leave it alone, it will coast you more than you will make on the recovery and tow, you need a wheel lift or a rollback for these vehicles today,, in this situation a wheel lift integrated with the boom would help a lot,

Looks like a busted steering rack. Can’t believe they put a rack and pinion steering system under these. I’ve seen a few bust like this. They need to have an old school drag link set up that you can at least beef up like a Jeep Wrangler, of course it needs a straight axle too.. I’m sure there is a heavier rack out there but how much better is it. I wanted one until I saw how weak the front end was on them.

The jeep was below the bronco pulling down on it and they can't figure out why they couldn't pull it out! Really!

I’ll stick with my 1969 Chevy K30 and anyone of my square body trucks that I have for sure!!! One thing I do no is if I did own one of the new ford bronco’s I would definitely upgrade the tie rods before I ever would go taking it off road for the first time for sure!!! It is one of a few weak links that they definitely should have upgraded before even selling them!!! I have a 2007 Duramax and those are also supposed to have weak tie rods but I ordered some upgraded PPE tie rods for it the first day I bought the truck and I have yet to break one yet!!!

Why put those logs there? That won't be the last vehicle to turtle out on that hill.

These new broncos look great but can’t really handle the real rough stuff.More for those fire road trail. Once you start flex out that suspension and putting a little stress on them they break.

I never understood what Ford was thinking when they decided to make the Bronco have a IFS axle instead of a live front axle. IFS is proven to be a weak component and cant handle tires larger than 32+ inches.

She'll be out there recovering on her own soon.

Just an old worn out tire in between the chains, tow bar, and bumper works really well.

Out beating the snot out of it, but worried about the recovery chain scratching the plastic bumper cover... SMH... Haha....

Definitely needs a sturdier bumper for future tows lol
