People with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Attention Deficit Disorder, in short ADHD and ADD, are characterized by either significant inattention, or by hyperactivity and impulsiveness, or by a combination of both. Over the last decades, the number of children who are taking prescription drugs for ADD/ADHD has dramatically grown.
Are current treatments the only solution to face the challenges of ADHD/ADD, or should we look for alternatives? In this video various international experts comment on the current treatments and focus on a specific method, called brain-function training, or neurofeedback.
This documentary is produced on behalf of Mind Media, The Netherlands, in order to bring attention to non-pharmaceutical solutions for ADHD and ADD. You can find more information at the end titles of this documentary and on the website of Mind Media: www.mindmedia.info/adhd.

This is really interesting. I only got my diagnose about 4 years ago when I was 26. I've had so much trouble with school stuff my whole life. I kept failing stuff. I finally found what I wanted to do in life. So I studied software engineering. But it was soooo hard. When they explained stuff I just didn't understand. I needed to know why exactly I used the kind of code they were explaining. And I wanted to know all the code behind the code. They kept telling me, 'theres no need to learn that. Just focus on this'. But I just really didn't understand. I finally went and got myself tested and I got the diagnose ADD. I tried out some medication and Dexamphetamine turn out to work for me REALLY good. Now I finally understood what they were explaining. My head didn't have to think in the difficult way it used to think. Ofcourse I have a concentration problem. When I see a bird flying by the window I will get distracted without the medication. My eyes see every blink/light/movement. But that wasn't my (biggest) problem in school. It was the way my head was overthinking everything. And I wonder if neurofeedback can help something like that.

A very nice documentary indeed. I hope many people will view it and learn more about new ways to deal with attention and hyperactivity problems, like Neurofeedback and Biofeedback.

What an interesting documentary about neurofeedback. I watched it with full attention and i am happy to see people who are thinking this way. It is a very healthy way to help children by the means of neurofeedback in stead of medicines for such young children, wich also did not solve their problem. This way they can really learn something wich they can use in daily situations in life. At my work as a social worker we train the children in a similar way but not with technology, we train their behaviour bij practising positive behavior by modeling and shaping and let them experience the effects of positive behavior. Their insight will be better and so they become more motivated to show positive behavior. They become more happy when they feel that they are doing something right and also because of the nice response of other importent people in their lives. I hope that more and more people now and in the future will think in this healthy and effective way of helping children. I recommend my colleagues and friends to watch this documentary.

Congratulation for the video! It shows the mechanism of neurofeedbackwell, esp. the aspect, that it takes some time to see changes. One thing though: I find it a pity that the interview with Keneman was cut in an unfortunate way: After he has mentionend several chemically related (addictive) drugs, I am sure he was saying that MPH is NOT addictive. In our daily work with NF and AD(H)D, we often see NF and medication complement each other quite well, strengthen the multimodal approach.

'Thank you for your constructive comment. We made the cut in the interview because we didn’t want to go to deep into the comparison with other stimulants or cocaine. To the subsequent question, whether MPH is addictive as well, Dr kenemans replied that it is ‘in principle’ addictive. He explained the similarity and dissimilarity between cocaine and MPH and that due to the different manner of administration, MPH has a different effect and is it not addictive.

u should always start with temporal 3 and 4 ( t3 t4 theta downtraining) this is the power center as well as sensory intergration centre for motor visual and auditory inputs as well as memory so its an important place to start before frontal sites

Thanks for your answer. The last sentence seems to be very important. - Greetings - Stephan

While every person is individual, the best way to see whether a child has ADHD/ADD is through a QEEG or an EEG. Slow activity can be quite clearly seen between 4-8 Hz in the brain across the Sensory-Motor strip. Without the QEEG/EEG, diagnosing children with a tick against the DSM-V criteria, is inaccurate and it is easy to misdiagnose. Without a QEEG/EEG you would tick the same boxes on the DSM-V for hypervigilance due to trauma, Irlen Syndrome, or epileptiform activity. It is time we recognised that there is a problem, particularly with attention, behaviour and memory, and used a more scientific method of diagnosing the cause than a 'tick the boxes and here's your Ritalin'. You can have a spect scan and get a proper diagnosis

HRV training breathing, lens is more effective than standard biofeedback, if u do eeg biofeedback the margret ayres method is real time and most effective other systems are to delayed
