I think the Si is a pretty, well-rounded sports car for most people and I think, as you stated, this would be a great tuner car. It's for those who wouldn't be able to afford the upcoming Type R (or like its over-the-top looks). In theory, you could build a Type R killer with the Si platform and spend way less money than buying a Type R outright.

Marcos Salmeron they aren't in the same class. While the WRX does start at $26k, to get the same creature comforts that the Si comes standard with, you would need to get the WRX limited, which pushed that pricetag up to $32k. So if you have the budget for the 60hp increase and rear wheels spinning too, it's obviously a no-brainer. But to compare these apples to apples is not analogous to reality. Plus the WRX well equipped is also 550lbs heavier. One is a fun commuter car, one is a more proper sports car.

Seams everyone is worried about HP. #, well this car make just about 220 hp at the wheels stock, with a easy hondata tune or k tuner it will make 270 wheel hp along with trq, this car is so under rated just because they say its got 205 hp, when it infact is more like 230 stock, and so easy make more power if needed, and it boosts 14 to 16 stock not 23, not sure how these numbers got so miss led, think its because Honda does not want to pull attention away from the R model, due to fact your can take 3 grand and make this car better then R and not look like a ricer doing it. This late 10 gen is a typical honda sleeper, i love it

It actually makes a little over 200 wheel not 220 and a hondata stage 1 tune will put it a hair above 240 wheel not 270. Definitely still fun tho

Idk how I'm feeling about the new Si . I'm happy with my 2013 Si . It definitely carries that Si heritage/spirit in it . I guess we will see how this new generation will grow on us .

There is a Volume Control on the steering wheel....why is everyone complaining about a knob not being there?!?! Seems like a non issue

It's not an issue but it seems all reviewers want to complain about it on a Honda,, I haven't heard one person complaint about it on a Tesla.

its a civic…when honda makes something its to last. people have tuned these upto like 400+ hp reliably with supporting mods. there is even a 1000 hp build with nitrous

Yes but at one magnificent time this car's predecessor challenged the GTI from VW. It fell from grace and is being chased like a scalded dog by the Elantra Sport and Nissan Sentra Nismo

Prior gen and current gen Si's still compete with the VW GTI's. In it's current state, the new Si, given that it's already turbo'd, will make it much easier to obtain power. Though.. the ceiling is much lower in regards to the max power it can make in comparison to the older generations.

Without a high revving vtec motor the character of the car has been sapped and in turn no additional power has been added. The review embargo is up and the consensus seems to be that this car is slightly slower and much less enthusiastic than it's predecessor. Honda has effectively built a slower GTI with this new Si, I can't see why you would choose this Si over a Mk7.

High revving vtec motor aside (as it hasn't been seen for 6 years now), the 10th gen probably has better WHP than any previous civic(if my previous comment applies) , making it a better stock for stock comparision vs the GTI than any civic before it. Especially when you consider my previous comment. I don't agree with it not having vtec. That's been Honda's flagship for many years now. Given that's been the Si's heart and soul for years. It really bugs me, along with the terribly sized displacement.

The clutch "problem" is definitely the driver not the car, it's not a track car.

Nah, I'm pretty sure the clutch situation is in fact the vehicle. The clutch on the Si is a common complaint as it feels extremely springy and light. Care to explain how that has anything to do with the driver?

The car weighs less so the power-to-weight ratio is better. I agree though, 205 is disappointing.

I agree.. it's very disappointing. However, if it follows suite with the EX-T variants, it may be under rated. Which would be unlike the 9th gen's. Their WHP (STOCK) varies from 165-185... Mostly due to the trash stock tunes that came from factory on those cars.

I really don't understand honda's decision to not offer the hatchback on the si trim. I would have offered the si on hatchback and coupe only. Ditch the sedan. Most civic si buyers will be younger people looking for the "trendy" and the practical, thus the hatchback makes more sense than the sedan. Aditionally, it would directly compete with hatchback offerings such as the VW GTi and the Ford Focus ST. Let's make Honda listen with some likes!

Do you know what Vtec is ??? real performace vtec has not been around for some time,, most cars now a days have a form of vtec on the car, not that special anymore, hate to brake the news to ya, its not really needed when running turbo, it does not hurt, however this car has electronic cam control ,, ever heard if "I" vtec ?? everyone has a hard on for vtec sticker, when in fact the older motors didn't even have electronic cam control just electronic valve control, the k motors do both but only have vtec on one cam not both, and no turbo, These newer turbos motors are just the tip of the ice burg , honda knows what they are doing, what with the volume knob shit?? the controls on the steering wheel!! what do you need a knob for?? you dont even need to leave the wheel,

Why would this car even be considered 24.5k sticker vs a wrx 26.6k sticker price. the choice is obvious no vtec. 1.5 base model engine. they ruined the si lineage.
