New Info and Preorders for Star Trek Into the Unknown! 

I demo'd this at PAX. They definitely took some inspiration from DnD Onslaught. But I really liked some of the systems. It's definitely a little chunky, your stats can change based on if you're in red alert, yellow alert etc. One of my favorite things was there are different "acts" and depending on who wins which act can change the next act. I was the Jem'Hedar and won the first act, so the second act was more combat focused which benefited me. Also, to-scale ships is a huge win. Definitely will preorder!

When you said transporter range rulers, I got goosebumps. I hope there are some away mission rules in this game.

One of my favorite battles is from ST Voyager where he Romulans steal the brand new prometheus. Two defiants and an Akira face down three Romulan warbirds. I hope we get an Akira class soon.

Can’t wait for them yo do a Klingon expansion. Gotta love the B’rel and k’vort.

I’m hoping for a Battle of Sector 001 set with an Akira, Steamrunner and Sabre class. Pre ordered the core set from my LGS. They’re mostly a Magic the Gathering and Warhammer shop, but they’re all trekkies. They hadn’t heard of the game until I inquired, so now they’re trying to drum up some local hype.

Oh man, I just tried to focus on a hand full of cool games...But this looks so cool, painted minis, Star Trek license, a 2-section Enterprise, characters attached to the ships... Damn, I'm hyped...Can't wait to see a gameplay demo :-) I hope it makes its way to Germany soon ;-)

I plan on ordering it at some point. I wanted to get into Armada but due to lack of news I think I'll get this instead. The amount you get looks like to be the combination of the Republic and Confederacy starter boxes anyways. I wouldn't have picked the Dominion (It is a dishonor to the Klingon empire to not mention them at all.) for one of the first factions.

With the saucer separation, I wonder how they’ll do the USS Prometheus. I’m hoping they also make a battle of sector 001 set from first contact, and the USS Cerritos just for the fun of it

Already pre ordered and ready for it. My body is ready. Favorite battle , I’ll say two. The obsidian order and tal shiar attack on the founders and when the valiant attacks the dominion battleship.

I want to say either First battle of Chin'toka or Sacrifice of Angels is the best battle in Star Trek

Looks like a great early release, hopefully there is enough support to keep the game going! DS9 had the best battles, all the epic fleet actions, glad they’re bringing that out early.

I'm impressed with what they are starting with. I just hope they commit to this as i would love to get a nebula, akira, sovereign, and intrepid for feds. Then, I would love to get romulan ships such as the Morgi ( Valdor ) and the D'Deridex.

If you think about it, you do know more Federation ship names of 2 of those classes... Galaxy Class - named after the USS Galaxy. Ditto the Constellation Class...

Just talked to my LGS and unfortunately they won't be carrying this game. We have a bunch of Armada and Attack Wing players but there isn't a lot of support for my area, so I will be getting it for my wife and I to play. Money is already set aside for the base and possibly an expansion or two. Extremely excited but disappointed that my LGS won't be getting it in. My favorite battles in Star Trek are The Seccond battle for DS9 in DS9 Episode Sacrifice of Angels and The TOS episode Ultimate Computer the M5 battle simulation where it was Enterprise taking on 5 other Federation ships. But sadly the lives that were lost was truly sad.

I dont understand why they didnt go co op also for this game considering how good the co op was for Attack wing.

A search shows it for preorder on other sites for $113 US but you probably won't receive it as quickly as direct order.

This looks like WizKids had leftovers from Alliance. I hope they support this game more than they did that one.

Looking forward to this - especially if Armada and X-wing are on the decline. I really hope that we can get a co-op campaign, similar to what was done by wizkids with Star Trek Alliance. The other hope I have is we'll get some Strange New Worlds content - would love that version of the Enterprise, not to mention the Gorn ships. As for favourite battles, well, Wrath of Khan takes the cake. Less spectacle and more tension - which is the way to do a good space battle. I did like the Re-imagined Balance of Terror episode of Strange New Worlds, added in some flash, but kept the tension. Back to Wrath of Khan, the reason why the Mutara nebula battle works so well, is each hit inlficts massive damage, so it is about maneuvering, and out thinking an opponent. For a long time, Star Trek has just been shouting percentages, which is not interesting in my opinion. I mean, I get why they did it (can't damage expensive models), but it then became the modus operandi for star battles, and took away the tension. I really hope we get some California class ships for Into the Unknown, as well as delving into Species like the Gorn, Tholians, and others that have popped up.

The game and miniatures look very promising and I have pre-ordered. My biggest concern is that Wizkids can be iffy with their long-term product line support. I personally would buy every expansion they release, but how many ships and factions will be represented before Wizkids might suddenly pull the plug? Sadly, that's the risk with any miniatures line; all we can do is vote with our wallets to support this opportunity.
