7:00 phos' line "I'm sorry" being cut between two panels reminds me of Phos trying to say please to Kongo before Bort shatters them. In chapter 77 Phos ends with "Plea-" and continues in chapter 79 with "...ease." The two scenes parallel each other while showing how their relationship has changed, since Phos became less apologetic and people-pleasing, and just wanted to be in peace

Re: Cinnabar’s gloves It’s the poison too, especially with the clipboard scene from before. Which I believe is also a big part of their social awkwardness of not telling anyone Phos is found. Can you elaborate on Phos feeling the need to play by the rules to keep the other gems around? I think they’re just considerate, not from fear of abandonment. I wouldn’t put Phos getting more powerful as the cause of their apparent diminishing empathy, but that with power, they also got more far-reaching goals that had them tunnel vision into disregarding their fellow gems. Cairngorm puts it well as Phos ignoring those around them for those who aren’t. Indeed, Ventricosus was right about Phos’ lack of discipline, as far as we know. Re: Kongo looks like a Lunarian Good eye Rutile may be too interested in unethical experiments, but they really were a caring doctor. I wonder if they would’ve snapped out of it if Kongo didn’t step up to repair the gems, no purpose when Padpa is gone and the other gems got Kongo.
