Spending some time at the range with a HK34
OK, so as I mention in the video, this is NOT a new MP5 version, but rather a variant that brings a whole new capability to the MP5/ HK94 platform. I first heard about the HK34 in the Project64 book and believe it was a prototype that never came to fruition. Years later, Vector Arms came up with a semi-auto rifle called the V94L which was essentially the standard carbine length 16" barrel, but with a HK33 hand guard, cocking tube and forward located front sight post. I fell in love with that concept as it was something new and different and also opened up some different possibilities in the world of PCC platforms. Fast forward, and after a long and enjoyable conversation with Will Barth at Revolutionary Roller Locks, this concept was developed. A shorter, SBR length 11.5" barrel with the elongated gas tube, forward mounted sight post, and vented hand guard. Also included was the RL adapter for the ACR stock, which seemed like something I didn't need or want at the time, but I am so glad that he talked me into it. Add a registered trigger pack and the end result is this new and unique variation of a theme on the MP5. I cannot tell you how much I enjoy this firearm, and how much fun I have shooting it.
*I say "gas tube" in the video and meant to say "cocking tube". I do these videos in one take, and sometimes my mouth works faster than my brain!

ACR stock, slower rate of fire and longer barrel makes this a thinking man 's MP5. These features that Jason introduced are practical for a carbine that is going to be carried daily. Nice work Jason, not many experts think the way you do.

Hey Jason. Not sure I agree with your statement on 1:21. The MP5 series doesnt use a gas system to cycle the action so the length of the "gas tube" shouldnt have anything to do with the ROF. Not to mention it doesnt sound any slower if at all than a regular MP5. It's still a slick looking gun and it looks like a blast to shoot.

The cocking tube doesn’t effect the RIF either. 🙄 Ifs the length of the barrel compared to a shorter MP5 barrel, and the delay/dwell time difference in the rollers unlocking. You can also run different size rollers to change that. Cool video but a lot misinformation.

My favorite firearms are the one's customized. This is just over the top, love it. Back in the day with H&K 91 knock offs everywhere I bought a few. I had a buddy weld a rail on top (professional welder) mill the iron sights off, change the front grip, modify it and install a custom bipod into the grip. When it was all done I had a powder coat of black put on the metal and it looked like a million bucks. Someone bought it & it wasn't even for sale!

The idea for this rifle crossed my mind because a standard 94 style rifle looks so silly with the short cocking tube/handguard and 16” barrel. I’m surprised ptr doesn’t make something like this of the shelf!

Vector Arms made one for a while called a V94L. I have only seen one over the years but they are out there. This one has a 13.5” barrel so even if it wasn’t a select fire SMG it would still be a SBR. I think the idea of a 16” setup is a really cool idea and wish more people would make them.

Jason. Good to see the HK34 in action. I still don't understand how purists dislike it. It's way better than what HK had to do with the HK94 to avoid turning it into a NFA "SBR" or a making it a "pistol". Thanks again for the upload.

Right I just got sp5l whic is a hk94 with the tri lug but would much rather have the longer hand grip covering majority of the barrel

This is super, I've been thinking for a while that I'd have to build my own someway, but that was looking a bit complicated. As much as I like the look of the 12.5 inch (yours is 11.5??) I'd really like to see what a 16 looks like with the longer forearm. is it a bit too unwieldly? I might be happy with a 16in in .223 but nobody makes it. So the 9mm looks like a really great choice. The longer barrel will help with some down range accuracy, pick up some fps, and the extra few inches quiet the round down a bit more, I was told.

Vector Arms made a version for a short period called the V94L and it featured a 16” heavy barrel with an elongated hand guard and the front sight post moved forward. It looked like an HK33 but in 9mm. I will probably do something like that in the future as I like the way it looked. This version works for me because it was going to be a FA fun so I didn’t worry about the barrel length and like it shorter for maneuverability. It’s kind of the best of both worlds.

Yes it is! Sadly I have about 40 or so MP5 mags and not all are German or HK. The creation of new clones also means a lot of aftermarket magazines and not all of them fit well.

would be a near perfect PCC if it had an M-LOK handguard.

You could easily have one cut for that. I don't attach anything to my carbines so it wasn't a necessary feature for me, but the venting aspect is just a CNC program, and as long as you as reinforcement to the inside of the hand guard, M-Lok is definitely possible.

Wait so gas operated roller lock? Instead of delay? I thought there wasnt a gas system on mp5s

There isn’t. I meant to say cocking tube and said Gas tube instead. Made the note in the description. I do these videos in one take and sometimes my mouth works faster than my brain!
