On a brand new OpenTx radio, it's a wise idea to ensure hardware and software agree. You can check your hardware calibration before going through a calibration by clicking System, Page Left x2, Scroll Left to Analogs, Press Jog Dial and verify all sticks/pots/sliders move from -100 to +100. If not, you need to perform the hardware calibration.
You also need to perform a hardware calibration anytime you add or change hardware. For example, if you upgrade your potentiometers, you should run a hardware calibration. If you remove your gimbals and put them back in, you should run a hardware calibration.
