You could always build a kiln and stockpile some lumber to supplement the income and supplies for future projects , keep up the good work love your channel. Still my favourite cooking show

Try a wire brush on a grinder to clean up boards, and it might work.

That was a really nice gift. You'll enjoy it. My first Mill was an Lt15 with bed extension. You must be getting the Lx250 or 450 wide.

We are getting the LX150
@bespokefencing
@bespokefencing Месяц назад
I hope you have a better built bed than my LX100 has. When I bolted the bed sections together, they went up and down like a roller coaster! The rails were longer than the bed! I had to put spacers between the bed sections to sort it all out! The Setworks are fantastic and really accurate. Also, the debarker makes the blades last lot longer! Best of luck for when you get up and running again!😉

@OutpostReview Месяц назад
I think the ones on the 150 are different, but had experience with something similar with the old one.

Sounds like you got your hands full coming up Richard! But that's ok look at all you've already built... A Sawmill, A outdoor kitchen, A Outhouse, A House 🏠, A Smokehouse, A Chicken 🐔 house, a pig 🐷 parlor, A enclosed garden, A Tower 🗼, A workshop with equipment shed & area for new sawmill not counting the house 🏡 you built before the whole RU-vid thing... Did i leave anything out ? I been watching so long don't think I've missed anything but a lot to remember 😂! But after all that i dont think putting a sawmill together and building a solar storage shed and putting up solar panels will whip ya! 😂👍🏼

lol, I guess we’ll see when it’s all said and done. Yeah we’ve done a lot or should I say that little sawmill did a whole lot. It’s hard to believe that much time has went by that much work has been done. In someways it doesn’t seem possible and other ways I look back and think man it seems like such a long time

Richard you have been retired a few years now just saying you need a vacation even if it's only a day or so! So go fishing or just visit. That area is so beautiful, you are working your life away.

I kind of enjoy working. Maybe I can think of some place to go and do where I haven’t been before. I don’t like the same place over and over
@bobvrnr
@bobvrnr Месяц назад
I would be inclined to use a backhoe to dig out two trenches slightly longer than your rails, about 36" deep and 18" wide. That would be for a strong 12" deep footer upon which you would pour 12" columns at your joints. All this would need connecting rebar. Then you could easily backfill and top it off with a few inches of crusher run.
@OutpostReview
@OutpostReview Месяц назад
It’s going to be nice when it’s done. I agree on the steps except the 36 in deep trench. Even house footers aren’t that deep here. Usually 18-24 in deep because our frost line is 6in. This shale and red clay is like concrete
@OutpostReview
@OutpostReview Месяц назад
Now I see your talking long way with the footer. That would also use a lot of concrete. I have wood I can use to help save money. But great idea
@bobvrnr
@bobvrnr Месяц назад
The main reason I suggest the 36" footer and 24 inch columns is for the mass. The down force generated from a 2000lb log bouncing around the bunks can be pretty destructive over time. To cut down on the amount of concrete, you can still dig the trenches with a backhoe and build forms for smaller footers and use sonotubes and rebar for the piers. Digging trenches with machinery and backfilling saves time and gives more space to work efficiently.

Good morning. (sorry, I don't know your first name). From the way you are describing the new Sawmill I think you are going to get pretty wet if it suddenly starts raining. If that is the case, then a roof extention might be an idea. That's before it arrives !
@OutpostReview
@OutpostReview Месяц назад
It will be close. We didn’t actually plan on getting a new sawmill when we built the building. But if all the measurements are correct, it should all still be under roof.
