You lost all credibility claiming this is an ad for a plastic watch when it’s stainless steel! I literally talking about the materials on the video! 🤦🏼♂️
@@BarkandJack fair whack, I did miss that. Still not sure about the gouge factor here from TAG. Like basically the same Citizen solar quartz from a 200 pound piece they put in a 2000 pound Aquaracer.
@@BarkandJackIt'd be pretty difficult to know if this was a paid promotion since some of your opinions have been astoundingly awful, but you really should do more research before making this kind of comment. Only certain models are in stainless steel, with the colorful cases being made of Arnite, a high performance plastic, hence why they needed to track down the original mold from the case manufacturer.
@@ijrm37to be honest, I could see how Adrian could come to the conclusion that every model is stainless if he were only looking at the listings on Tag's actual site, which appears to only be in steel. However, if you look at Tag's description of the series they explicitly state that they went out of their way to track down the original case manufacturer specifically for the mold If you look at listings on KITH, they have more options (unsurprisingly) and many of them state that the material is Arnite. Ironically, I think the plastic aspect is a selling point here because of the tracking of the mold and limited nature of the series- I believe they are overpriced for the movement, but it's actually kinda cool that they are keeping it original with modern durable polymers
Nothing says horology like a $1500 co-branded, retro 80’s quartz, soon to be the center piece of every Duty Free shop, in the International Terminal, of your favorite airport.
Genuinely thought these would be under $100 when I saw them. At $1,500, they are taking the p. But, it is a free market, and some people may decide to buy them just because they can.
They are over priced at £1200, but so is the Speedmaster, Aqua Terra, Ingenieur, Submariner... Watch prices have gone crazy. Doesn't put me off the Speedmaster, AT... etc. Just won't be buying one... not at retail anyway.
@@BarkandJack To be fair, it would be nice to see a video like this where you get to the price and say, "this is overpriced" and not immediately turn around and justify the price.
Eh, if it was the price of the MoonSwatches maybe… but for that price tag, no thanks! Might as well buy the actual F1 Tag or a Nomos if you want some color.
@@BarkandJacknext time you say something is cool, bare in mind people will immediately jump on you and accuse you of being a sell out. Apparently something that is overpriced isn’t allowed to be “cool”.
@@BarkandJack yer of course you can and will continue to quite rightly do so. For cap’n boring to advocate his expression of coolness for this ‘Keith’ is brave never mind commendable 😏
So TAGHeuer want $2200(AU) for a plastic quartz watch, co-branded by someone most of us have never heard of. Suddenly the MoonSwatch looks like great value.
It's reassuring to see other people say they have/had no idea what Kith is. Having never heard of Kith, I was very confused when I first saw these watches. After finding out what Kith is, I have realised I dress too well to have any reason to know of their existence.
@@Username.RandomNumbers What is even stranger is that Kith appeals to a much younger audience than a re-issue of an 80's plastic watch, so even Kith customers may not see the appeal that someone of my vintage does.
@@thedelaminatoralthough I won’t be buying one. You are completely right. It seems everyone thinks they are a watch design / marketing genius. Can we all be absolutely honest here. Most “watch enthusiasts” are on a Rolex waiting list to get something thats above retail following the hype and call themselves a proper watch enthusiast. They will bash any quartz watches that are more expensive than a Casio.
@@thedelaminator my point is people will criticise this release whilst most of them will think a Rolex is great value and completely worth the money. I didn’t say you did.
I think there are plently of watch enthusiasts who aren’t on Rolex waiting lists actually. We might own Omegas, independent brands, micro brands, Casios. But we won’t own one of these.
If you say its not a paid content then I'll take that at face value, however you can not deny £1200 per watch in my opion is a rip off it should be/state tag heuer. Otherwise it a daniel Wellington Heuer if it could afford it if you know what I mean
@@BarkandJack I'm not new, I've watched your content for many months now. I'm sorry to think this but these two videos (Kith Heuer and Bremont) had a suspicious feeling about them. Maybe because you don't really express your opinion on either video. Maybe that's what makes it sound like a promo video. I'm not sure what it is but reading through the comments I wasn't the only one who had this feeling.
@@BarkandJack OK, I believe you. Both videos were just not in your usual style. The difference is subtle but it's there (just my opinion). So if it's not an ad, then it's just not your best content. Which I understand, it's really hard to do great content every week for years. And you've made some excellent content over the years which I really enjoyed.
Noooo.... Tag a designer brand bought a true watchmakers name. The original had the cheapest eta quartz movement worth just a few pounds. No difference to a watch from Armani. Now they have the cheek to release it again, drop their Tag logo and increase the price. However there's a fool born every minute
As mentioned by others, the fact that this reissue makes Swatches recent cash grabs look like value is probably the most damning statement anyone can make
"Hey look! Plastic with fancy name works for Swatch. Let's do that too." "Yeah, ok. But we need to up the price to make it feel exclusive." No idea what they were smoking but i want some!!
@@BarkandJackyou’re one of the VERY few that really likes this watch. Given the comment section and majority of other YT channels shitting all over it, I’d say you were paid. That’s ok. Just say so.
@@BarkandJackexactly. Haters gonna hate. You keep on being you. Love your content. One of the best watch reviewers out there. Appreciate all you do for the community.
@@ScoobieDoobie197474right because there can't be a minority point of view. We must all feel the same way about every watch release or else someone's being paid. How silly.
Anytime a brand does a ‘colab’ it reeks of desperation….it says, “we don’t know what to do anymore, we need to make ourselves relevant” It’s the retail version of “jumping the shark”
@@tiagodvtbut they are very limited so a lot of cost must be spread over relatively few watches. A submariner might only cost a few hundred bucks to make but price is $10k.
@@JacekStalewski No. Moonswatch takes a steel luxury watch with a mechanical movement and makes it a plastic quartz. This takes a steel and plastic quartz model and er, keeps it the same. Less than 5000 of these, compared to 100000s of Moonswatch.
@@FieldDE So who made a better deal? Plastic Moonswatches cost 200usd, these F1s (which always been entry level, kids watches) someone priced as high as Aquaracers with mechanical movement. This is a joke. KITH does nothing to most of the TH customers, they didn/t need this collaboration to resale their famous watch model. The only winner here is KITH brand, for sure not Tag Heuer.
Kith is a clothing and footwear boutique chain founded by a snake oil salesman called Ronnie Fieg who has worked out that there are mugs who will fork out the equivalent of £800 pounds for a sweatshirt. Predictably, Ben Clymer thinks the Sun shines out of his backside and this ridiculous tie-in with Kith and TAG HEUER is the result.
Hi Adrian, I still have and wear my original F1 (black strap with tritium markers and lum on the dial, it is very much "Trigger's broom", it's had a rough life, its last service brought it back to immaculate condition with an original strap. TH even returned the parts they replaced. Great service.
Hey adrian, I'll be interested in what andrew and george (especially george) thinks of this marketing move given george is a die hard tag heuer 'ambassador'.
I was 12 when the original Tag Heuer Formula One came out. I remember looking at in the shop window wanting one, but not able to afford it. Much like I feel now to hearing a Kith sweatshirt is >$800 (also hadn't heard of Kith and a few lanes away for me!). BUT I am tempted with one of these for the retro nostalgic element (which i never got from a MoonSwatch)...and rather one of these, than 2 sweatshirts!
No, because there are less than 5000 and this isn’t a collaboration between a luxury watch brand and its parent company. Time will tell on whether TAG will now do more F1 collabs with other brands though.
My uncle, already in his 60s, has one and he is wearing it till this day as a fun watch. He claimed that it only cost him less than 250 dollars back then.
I predict they don't sell very many of these. Quartz powered, undersized, overpriced and completely out of style. You may say they're "retro", all I have to say is "Yikes."
Mark my words these will sell out. Some colours are limited to a few hundred worldwide. Millions of Moonswatches and they all went. Expect resell prices to be in the £1000s.
@@BarkandJack Nothing special about this watch to justify the price TAG. Unbelievable mark up on watches, proof is most offer massive discounts further down the road, (with discounts I picked up a new Doxa Army the other day for a grand less than original rrp), shame you don't make a video about that. People are knocking on you because even if you just admitted prices are overinflated it would show credibility. Time to reevaluate your life methinks instead of obsessing over the latest overpriced watch brand cash grab 😅
