For those of you who have never owned a BMW before, here’s an overview of the buttons and what they do/where they are in your new Bimmer! music by www.bensound.com
Thank you very much for this video. Got my first bmw this week and couldn’t for the life of me understand half the buttons or where the odometer was. This really helped. Thank you!
Waiting on delivery for my first ever BMW which will replace my 19 year old stick-shift Volkswagen - so this video is quite helpful in getting me acquainted with what all of the buttons and knobs do, much more so than the PDF of the owners manual!
Haha how many times did you try to end the vid before realising there was something else?? Seriously though, great vid. Just bought my bmw so this was very helpful ✌🏼✌🏼
Thanks for explaining this in detail. I am watching this from Scandinavia, unfortunately we don't have sellers who can put this much efforts into explaining. Lucky to have sellers like u.
JP, as always thanks for great informative videos. On the idrive 7 on the Doors/vehicle access screen there is a check option for "Turn off vehicle after opening doors". I have checked that option but my vehicle does not turn off when I am in park and open the drivers door. Can you explain this option in more detail? Thanks
Funny you mention that... I found that SAME ISSUE! What the feature is supposed to do is exactly that, turn off everything when the drivers door opens, however for some reason it doesn’t seem to work perfectly or consistently, or even at all sometimes. I’ve reached out to BMWNA to see if it’s a software glitch or a feature that’s active but we can’t use properly in the US (similar to how PHEVs have an option for 16amps for level 1 charge, even though you’ll only see up to about 12 on a 110 outlet, but I digress) . I’ll be sure to let you know what corporate says. I’ve manually switched the code on with success via coding but since the option is in the main menu it should work without coding. Hope this helps, and thanks for the your comment Joseph!
@@BMWofFW Thanks for the reply. I have seen videos with a BMW in ACC mode that recognizes traffic lights and the vehicle comes to a stop at a red light. Is that being implemented in European BMW vehicles now or is it only in the research stage. That is one of the complaints I have with the ACC it is somewhat autonomous when you are following a vehicle but if you are the lead car then you have to control your speed and be ready to stop at an upcoming traffic light.
@@josephmiller4003 sorry for the delayed reply, the traffic camera recognition is something that is an add on option for newer cars or a la cart buy in the BMW Connected store online (of in your my BMW app if you’ve upgraded to that) it’s separate from the ACC system and is more a geo based service with your navigation. Hope that helps Joseph!
@@BMWofFW I know about the traffic camera option My question was regarding the vehicle recognizing traffic lights while you are in ACC mode so you don’t have to manually brake when coming up to a red light.
Thank you. Your video is very informative. I have but 1 question, can we change the speed reading to only reflect KM/h. I understand having jt splt with both MPH and KMPH, but can it ONLY display KMPH?
yes in the settings, you'll find a Units option in the general settings that will allow you to change the main read outs to whatever metric you prefer.
Thank god I fly a Gulfstream G650 for work - I feel somewhat confident I will be able to learn these controls. Is there a pre drive checklist booklet? It would cut the time from entering the vehicle to configure the car into drive mode by at least 10 minutes
only way is in sport mode...since efficiency isn't the goal there, that's the only place to see it. otherwise they're always goingto maximize the blend of electric and gas.
Left on the shifter is Sport Shifting program, the sport button changes chassis, engine map, throttle, and if triggered things like launch control and traction modification.
@@BMWofFW awesome and thanks. I just got a 2021 118d and I couldn’t find it in the drivers manual because it’s in French. Appreciate your help and happy new year.

if you have the car running and want to lock it.. keep the key with you, step out of the car and use the comfort access lock to lock the car (horn will honk twice to let you know it worked).
My lower buttons (driving modes) are kinda stuck and when I press them the driving mode does change but there’s no pressing feeling like the others. Idk how to remove them and clean them 😭 someone help pls I might’ve dropped pizza sauce over it once
Sounds like an antenna issue, have you taken it into the shop for a replacement? When that antenna is acting up you lose a bunch of things like gps location, remote services, sos, telematics, etc.
Not in the USDM, mainly because we don’t sell the 320i here anymore. But if you’re over in Europe or in Canada for instance, I would imagine it’s an option rather than standard like here in the US.
which 2 series? because the gran coupe is still BMW just on a FWD platform shared with the MINI. but the 2 series coupe is 100% a traditional BMW layout.
