I love Walthers and this new PDP is fire but your marksmanship is through the roof! 105 yards on a white-on-white target 🎯 in -20 degree below? Insane!
@@Rorschach__NoCompromise wow you guys are missing out not having a backyard range . I can hit a 100 plate with a P365 pretty consistently. Like OO in the video . I am more impressed in his tolerance to -20 then his shooting with an RDS . I doubt my fingers would have lasted in the cold as long as his appeared to. Minus no video edits in time ;) I have the luxury of a backdoor range . Makes practice a easy daily event . Fortunately I have an ammo source from the farm next store . He'll reload all I want . All I do is keep his drive plowed ;)
@@rickhunter6513 Hickok is great, but he doesn’t really review guns. He just talks about them and plinks at his incredible range shooting the free federal ammo he gets.
@Michael Tee Jerrry Miculek is in a league of his own when shooting, so I wouldn't compare him directly to anyone, but another great pistol reviewer is Garand Thumb, I always go to this channel and his when I want to know exactly how a gun performs, also the military arms channel is good.
Yep. I cant even get to range to practice... down south everything is froze bout 4 or 5 inches straight ice where I am... I'd rather have some snow... lol atleast I can walk in it. This damned ole ice is gonna bust some damn hips for sure round here!
I discovered your channel about a month ago and I love it. Your wife is so positive and supportive. You are a great shooter, provide your honest opinions and good advice. No politics involved just shooting. This is one of my top 3 favorite channels now. Keep it coming.
I agree. The PPQ was the first gun I ever bought when I could legally own one and I absolutely loved it. There were few changes I would have made (especially making it optics ready since that took forever until C&H Precision found a way to do it) and Walther fixed all of these issues while making even more improvements. I can't wait to get my hands on one. Also this is minor but I love that Walther moved the logo to the middle of the slide instead of the front slide serrations. Makes the gun look so much sexier.
I much prefer the P99 since it’s technically still the same gun, albeit a better SA pull. The PPQ didn’t appeal to me all so much aesthetically until the Q5 SF came out. With the PDP I’m instantly in love. Too bad I live in CA.
@@romeo_alpha0176 I know how you feel. Thankfully I go back and forth between my Vegas home and my Palo Alto home for work. I have a PPQ, Hellcat, APX, P01, and P07 at my Vegas home while I have an HK P2000sk, Kahr PM9, and Beretta 96 in Cali. Wished we didn't have such backwards gun laws here in Cali but I make a lot of my living here and love the life style.
@@JacksonWalter735 I have paid the roster tax so to speak on pistols I like. I’ve got the P5, P88, P99, and Q5 SF. I get paid great in CA, but honestly I’d take the cut for some free will. Practically all the things I enjoy like cars, guns, etc, are heavily regulated and it’s just old after awhile.
@Chris George because of “target focus” meaning as humans when in a deadly encounter we naturally are focusing on the aggressor or “target” problem with that is traditional irons will give you a blurry target. With a red dot you can focus on the target and just cover it with the dot, it’s actually more natural.
Absolutely the best grip.. After narrowing my choices down to the Canik Rival and the Walther pdp, i went to my local arms dealer and ended up choosing the pdp, the grip was the deciding factor.. And i had pretty much made up my mind up that i was going to buy the Rival..
Agreed. I'm just glad that it's optics ready. I was one of the early adopters of the PPQ and no gun armorers would touch it for years if I wanted to mill it for an optic. I was so glad when C&H Precision found a way to do it. Now we get a new Walther platform out of the box that's optics ready and that makes me so happy.
Wish my VP9sk was optics ready. It would be a huge hassle to sell it then buy the new optics ready version. Some day in the future, I have to bite the bullet and send the slide in for an optics cut.
Actually, I just got my store bought PDP and they do NOT come with any mounting plates. Where cheaper alternatives like the new Delta Gen 2 comes with multiple plate adapters so you can get to shooting right way, your $650 PDP will come with a voucher for (1) plate of your choice that you have to fill out a webform and wait I don't know how long until you can actually get the plate and use your gun with the RDS. I'll let you know how long it takes to get my single plate adapter. I guess if you want to try a different sight you'll have to spend more money buying other plates.
How’s the recoil with the PDP? You had said in an earlier vid that you thought then PPQ was a little snappy. I’m looking to buy then PDP with 4” barrel and use it for my CCW. I was looking at the CZ P 07 for the other option. I am not a rich man and can only afford 1 CCW. Which would you recommend?
@@bradbolinger4403 I have the 4inch barrel with full size frame. I like it a lot. It is a bit snappier then my glock 19 but not by much. The ergos on this pistol are AMAZING.
I bought the 5" full size, your video helped me to choose my gun and no regret : the best low cost pistol you can find on the market. Balanced, accurate, easy to use and maintain. Thx from France
Yes please. Walther really seems to be listening to the customer. Good on them. Uses PPQ mags as well. I've got PPQ M2 Tac Ops and P99 and love them both.
I also have a Tac and I'm not sure if I should get this gun or just keep the Tac and call it a day. This doesn't have a threaded barrel native yet so if I were to go at it, I'd have to wait for that version.
I've got 2 Walthers and im very very happy with both. Incredibly accurate and reliable. Ive got 5000+ rounds through my older model and Ive never experienced a single issue. Also, considering all of those rounds, there is literally almost no sign of wear. I had one problem with a dust skirt on one mag, but they were super cheap and Walther got a replacement to me in 2 days. Love them.
Thanks for your dedication to your viewers by going out and shooting the walthers ( and others) in such crappy cold weather.........i believe because of that, you definitly are one of the most trusted channels on the interweb....... thanks H.O.
I spent a bit of this past summer changing my grip, for all of my pistol shooting, to that second one that you showed, to avoid holding the slide stop down. It's been working pretty well for me. Love my PPQs, and now I'll have to get these new Walthers.
You are clearly my favorite gun tuber. Before I purchase a firearm I always look to see if you have a review on it. Just picked up the pdp and absolutely love it. Thanks and god bless you and your lovely wife.
Even my two year old fell in love with this gun after watching your review with me. Thanks for keeping the language clean... he was repeating nearly everything you were saying. :)
Awesome Review. My PPQ M1 is my main winter carry here in Georgia. Not sure if I need a lighter trigger than my PPQ is already, lol. Those grips look awesome though.
Awesome to see the first shots being put through it. Nice glove friendly trigger guard too. Side note: love the acoustics of the shots echoing over the snow. I guess the sound reverberates more cleanly at -20 degrees C and rolls right back at you. Nice.
Well I thank the both of you for battling the deep snow and butt crack cold weather for a great review. I watched a couple of others earlier, however, I prefer to see what you have to say before I go out looking for one. Great shooting from the both of you.
@@wheezzl and then there’s someone like me who wants to have all sizes of the same gun for different styles of carry. 😂 full size for the nightstand, compact for EDC and sub compact for those hot summer days when I dress light.
@@MrKneeV I bought an IWI Masada when they came out for 450 bones and thought that was a steal. In love with the gun but there’s next to no aftermarket support in terms of holsters and sights. So glocks are me edc. But this thing might be able to dethrone it. Decent price for the features aaand tier1 and T.Rex arms immediately releasing light compatible holsters. My girl is going to be pisssed
About 70 degrees out at the pool in Glendale Arizona... Sun beating down on me and I just put on my hoodie watching this video... Good stuff thanks for posting...
You really shoot well, Mr. Outlaw. I always cheer for Mrs. Outlaw when she shoots too. Thanks for braving that weather to shoot for us! I got my Honest Outlaw shirt today. My Goddaughter said it smells really good when I pulled it out of the package. Shirt looks good and well-made. That PDP makes me want to do some trading and get myself one when things calm down.
A few of my friends who shot q5 sf with red dot in competitions are all experiencing reliability issue. One of them switched to p320 x5, the other goes back to polymer q5
Yeah these reviews are all over the place the last day or two and good for Walther, this is a fantastic looking pistol, I will be getting one as soon as I can.
Your Mrs might have battled more because you still had the large backstrap on. She would have handled it much better with the smallest backstrap. Good review.🏆🏆🏆
The gun looks awesome, in Jamaica it's a gun i couldn't afford, watching your videos one if the things i enjoy as much as the guns & watching you shoot is you & your wife do it together, that's really cool, i gave my wife my 38 smith & wesson to shoot, she almost droped it, my browning citori in 12ga, ... she did 😬😬😬 , keep up the good work together, AWESOME !!!!
Waite targets with a white background and white three dot sights on the compact model I don’t know how in the world you hear anything. Also I say once again your wife does one of the best jobs filming of any RU-vid video film her that I’ve seen. Tell her she is the master of the camera like you’re the master of the gun.
Yous Guys Are da BOMB ! Have sampled P99, PPQM2 & Loved them. Kinda glad to have held out for this PDP full-size. Gonna have one & maybe two of these. Note; Please do not wonder whether or not you content is cutting edge. Outstanding👍 Carry On.
Let's also remember Mrs. Honest Outlaw was shooting with the big backstraps on the guns. Should wait until it warms up and config these and any others that can be changed for her smaller hands. Had a hard time noticing, did these have fixed or tilting barrels?
Mrs Outlaw had brass going all over the place, including a couple nearly in the face. Could this be caused by a bit of limp wristing? Not criticizing- just asking
The PDP doesn’t come with any optics plates anymore. Your first one is free from Walther and any other after that has to be paid for. I wish they had kept the optic plates in there!
I was just thinking today that I haven’t seen any Guns that have excited me in a while. I’ve never owned a Walther but that may have to change. Now if the gun market would calm down, I don’t that’s going to happen anytime soon.
Wow, that’s some crazy shooting! Damn! -20 105 yards. Looking forward to the duel between the PDP and the LS Edge! Great review as always! Props to your Mrs. Outlaw!
aww man, I'm getting out of California soon, and as a CZ guy I can't wait to buy something from the P10 series, but this makes all my decisions so much harder....
I have the CZ P-10 F and a Walther PPQ. PPQ is my home defense gun, the CZ is my go to war gun. They are both fantastic in their own ways. PPQ is extremely accurate.
@@IMD918 It’s something people have made up in their head to justify buying more guns lol. Gun for war Gun for home defense Night time ccw Day time ccw Mall gun Movie theater gun Fancy night on the town gun The list goes on
When Walther said they would come out with a new gun, I was hoping that they would come out with a “high capacity” PPS M2 that held 10+ rounds to compete with the P365 & Hellcat.
@@deanfirnatine7814 I carry a G43, because I purchased one as soon as it was released. A few months later, the PPS M2 came out, and I was kicking myself for not waiting a little longer to get that instead. This being said, I am interested in a “high capacity” micro-compact, and would love to see Walther release one.
Interesting - I switched to the M&P because of the grip texture and with an Apex flatty the triggers are similar to PPQ levels ... I wonder how this will compare
I'm an enthusiastic subscriber to your videos because your analyses are comprehensive and objective. It also keeps me from spending money on things that aren't that great. In the PDP video, you addressed trigger pull, and grip. Having run ranges at 2nd Marine Division, and the former park district range in a large mid-western city where open and concealed carry have been legal and customary forever, I have a strong opinion on guns without a thumb safety. Trigger pull on many striker-fired pistols has been lightened. While the pistols may be technically safe, even the most experienced users, and many times especially the experienced users, are not.
I’m going to get a PDP after watching your reviews of them 100 times. They are extremely nice in person and offer such great value compared to a very similar VP9. I’m inspired to see how accurate and fast someone can get if you put in the time and effort too!
I'd love to see their take. It would be interesting if they did a doublestack CCP or PK380. Looks like there's room in the grip for it, but I doubt there's a market for it.
@Chris George Oh I know. It's on my list for sure. I just like to see how different companies approach similar concepts. My comments were focused on them modifying past designs instead of a new one from scratch.
It has always seemed like Walther has been behind the curve with all the big names. I feel like the PDP finally puts them on the same level with the Glock/M&P/509 class. Good on them for listening to the community and making changes that needed to be made and keeping what has worked.
After watching your video, I placed an order for one and 2 minutes later they’re SOLD OUT! Very lucky still 👏👍🙂great reviews Thanks buddy, just subscribed.
