I've got the 4 inch full size (pdp version of a glock 45) and dude... I'm so happy I stepped outside the glock ecosystem, in part due to this excellent vid! Thanks!. Zero failures, a joy to shoot... makes me think I'm WAY better than I am. Walther pdp 4 inch / full size is my edc fall/spring/winter chunky boi. Never looking back. Weird note...maybe its a confidence thing, but after shooting with the pdp, I swear I'm better with my glocks. I suspect I was death gripping the glocks, and the pdp grip texture let me ease up a bit, then I carried that lighter touch back to the glock and BLAMO!, grip issue fixed.

I like to buy less-common versions of the various gun models, so instead of a 9mm PPQ I bought it in .45ACP and it's the "SD" [silencer-ready] version! Having said all this, I sure wouldn't mind having a PDP - maybe in a long-slide 9mm this time [sure wish they had it in 10mm!].

I've always been a Walther fan. Inherited a Germany purchased P88 my father bought while overseas before retiring from the DOD school system in the later 80's. I was honored to be it's recipient upon his passing. It remains well cared for and often shot! It has the sweetest Double/Single action trigger I've ever experienced. The single action is as nice as a 1911 but smoother. Only a little too much take-up, but hey, it's a DA/SA. I purchased a P99A which is also a nice gun but the trigger is just not as nice as the P88. That all metal frame just can't be beat in a nice firearm. Ironically, I love the paddle release system of the P99 and am puzzled why Walther didn't do it with the P88. I guess as that gun was in competition for the military contract at the time they wanted to keep it more "US-Spec". Ultimately, it lost out to the Beretta M9. As some mentioned, there's hope an M1 version will be released. I'll drop coin for that one! Also, someone said to just put the DPD slide on an M1 PPQ but I don't see how that would change anything.

I’ve carried Glocks my entire adult life from my Gen 1 G17 when I was 18 to my G19X last year. My 4” FS PDP, after hitting 500rds, replaced my Glock 19X which was never oem. This trigger is just that good along with the ergos. I highly suggest the Walther dynamic performance trigger, the DPM rsa system helps smooth it out, as well as suppressor hight sights. Phenomenal gun. My grandfather rolling in his grave. The Walther customer service has been great as well. It’s a slightly higher hob than a Glock, but isn’t a big deal honestly. Phenomenal.

Both me and my father bought the 4.5" PDP and it is now my favorite, most accurate gun. When shooting paper targets there's a need to change where you shoot on the paper often because I end up with just big holes where it's going in so close to the same spot within just a few rounds. Not joking. The positioning of the controls and the way it feels is just about as good as it gets. The grip is awesome. Not too mention it's such a cool looking gun too.

Have had my PDP Compact 4 since April. It is my main EDC's now. One of the big concerns some have had is the optics mount plate due to it not having studs on the bottom that interfaces with the slide. In reality, the stock plate with 18 inch pounds of torque provides more than adequate friction tension force to secure the mount and optic but I would be leery of using other plates using lower torque specs. I have shot over 2000 rounds through mine and friends of mine have pushed it to very high round counts (20,000 to 50,000 rounds plus just as Walther's own testing) with optics and have had not a single issue with zero loss. I am using a Holosun 507c X2 along with Ameriglo GL-329 suppressor height sights. It is a superb shooter and perfectly reliable so far. I have been a Glock user for over 3 decades but the PDP has superseded my Glock 19. I did add an Overwatch TAC trigger to my PDP because I prefer flat triggers with the trigger shoe face being perfectly vertical.

Grew up in an era where people thought James Bond was real, so naturally wanted a Walther PPK from Dr. No and a good dad bought me one on my 18th in 1988. One thing I'd love to see on gun reviews is customer service. My wife got a PDP for Christmas and just getting used to no ammo racking the recoil spring guide rod broke. In a 3 minute conversation with Walther a replacement was shipped no questions asked. Technology is fun but customer service is king. A steel rod is preferable but in this era of razor thin margins I get the plastic idea. Point is, buy a gun from a company that will support you. Walther has a rock solid lifetime guarantee and they mean it.

@@damize Thanks for talking about the PDP + Sprinco system. I usually don't like these Walthers' recoil impulses, but my gut feeling was that a Sprinco/DPM recoil reduction system could help it out a lot. So, could you go into a bit of detail in how the spring system improve how it shoots? We talking less snap (shock to the hand), noticeably less muzzle flip? With your Sprinco system, did you have the option of choosing your spring weights? Thank you.
@damize
@damize 3 года назад
@@lon242 The muzzle flip is considerably less. Gets back on target very quickly. It has a little bit of push back, but it is very manageable. It is just a comfortable pistol to shoot. Nah man that first impression you had is valid, you shouldn't have to change your grip up for the gun to feel comfortable to shoot vs. your Canik. Keep hearing this thing is snappy, and it validates my past experience with Walthers which looks like it sadly won't change much with the PDP. Still wanna give it a shot though. Anyway, thanks for sharing your experience.

Add a metal recoil rod(the pdp comes stock with a polymer rod) such as the DPM Recoil Rod Reducer System(there are others out there too) and it will significantly reduce that recoil or snappy muzzle rise

The PDP uppers also fit on the P99. If you want to keep the DA/SA/AS mode, use the P99 striker and cut/file the upper tang of the striker since the PDP doesn’t have a decocker button (necessary if you are using the Walther optic plate). You can index the PDP backplate for the longer P99 striker, or you can use the P99 backplate.
