Man finally found a video of someone doing what I've been doing for years but thought more people knew. So much easier. Great minds think alike lol. Keep up the good work man
This works real slick. Just wound mine up for the first time this year. Beats the hell out of winding it twice and it doesnt backwind while you're doing it. Great tip man.
We've been going from 7:30am- 8:30ish here in the Dallas area- taking several QT breaks. We've had a ton of rain and still backed up- more rain coming this weekend. Glad to have the work.
Dude thank u so much . I'm on RU-vid right now searching fastest way to spool a trimmer head this is so perfect going to save me so much time thank you bro I subscribed
Im not a pro, But just my own stuff n been doing it for a few years. It surprises me to see pro lawn crew guys use the two piece method. [yup it takes longer - inefficient] but that works fine for them, I learned to not try to teach them as Im not a pro. My thought was Im doing it wrong - lol but it works for me. pull out a couple arms lengths [ im around 6'6" - so got arms like an ape] ;) yup im kinda odd then I do like you - the ends go in the spool, wrap - then a loop left over to get cut with a knife or (?) yeah its a good way to wrap a spool. ez to store extras for back up as Im amazed at how many folks wait till im there to do this for them.
Wow! That is awesome! I don't understand why I can't think of the stuff oh my gosh that's gonna make my life so much easier LOL I'm also waiting for my bump heads to wear down for switch to speed to speed feed
Damn! You got me sold! That's definitely a better way to restring the head vs one piece at a time. Think i'll try it out looks like it cuts the restringing process down considerably! Good idea!
Glad you discovered this. I have been doing the same for many years. And even easier, the head doesn’t even have to come off for some head models. I feed the ends through the outlet, push to lock and wind the head. When at the end just cut the line so it’s even on both tails. Too easy.
I’m now new to stringing cause my husband is in hospice care. So I appreciate your video. Just ran out of string and said dag.....I’ll try this tomorrow, prefer to have happy hour now 😜
Thanks for the video...just made things a bit simpler for me. Question: could you do a video on replacing the blade on a troybuilt 2cycle brush cutter please? Thanks
I like that idea and ill probably give it a try however ,i like to have one string about a foot or so longer than the other that way if im in the middle of a job and the string is about to run out , the short piece will fly off and ill be able to finish up using the longer piece.
excellent teaching! I will try that. My line when I place it in seems to spool out real fast unless I bump the head about 8 times when starting. Probable just me.
Always happy to learn something new at my age. Awesome tip, thanks. I see you removed the safety guard on the second machine that was hanging up, I know it is for safety and protecting surroundings, I want to try and remove mine to get more reach, any ideas? I am using 2.7mm or 3mm on a Stihl FS 250. Any recommendations would help. Cheers.
I have a head like that on my shindiawa t235 and it shows on the spool to wind it that way with one string equal length , also my head has the , hook , to hold the looped line when you start winding it
An easy way to measure it out is to step on one end and pull it up to your nose, then step on the other end and pull it up to your nose and cut. I think the spool will hold up to 6 feet on each side. so if your nose is more than 6 feet just step on a bigger piece. It works great...
Honestly, I haven't had to be that 'Lawn Keeper', Guy to the extent of using a weed eater in the past. Let alone doing any type of maintenance. But, your video made it real easy to loading new string. I didn't find any of the Black Diamond you mentioned. Ended up with Husqvarna Titanium Xbox Pro with the wire through the middle. Thanks for the Video Bro.👍👍👍
ya thats how they designed to load...good for you figuring it out though...echo srm 225 if you ever want to try the real...when you run the line through the one hole twist it 3 times so when you get to the end you know your almost out and can finish the job without the line flying out and have one of your boyz load it on way to next job
I just ran across this post and wanted to say thanks for posting it. I've been doing it this way for almost 10 years but now I'm told the ends of the line should be in opposite sides of the head. 180° from each other. Just wanted your thoughts on that and how much line do you put on?
