Hi, I am in Trenton NJ, and I am thinking of relocate to Houston TX. What advise you can give me before i make the move? I know you are in Dallas TX, so how is the job market in Dallas compare to Houston? I am willing to make the move without any jobs lining up. I have been laid off since March this year and it's not easy to get anything in New Jersey.
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jyKZkfQ74r4.html I pretty much mentioned a lot of tips in this video. Take a look and see if it helps. If anything isn't clear just drop a message. I cover a lot in that video. I think it depends on your field of work. Job market isn't as difficult as other states. Texas is huge. If you are persistent you will find something for sure. Not a fan of living in Houston. But I would tell you to visit first.
I did a few times. I love Lala Land. But Its NY with better beaches and weather. I love the vibes but It's way too expensive a lifestyle. And unless you live in the burbs its pretty hood.
I sure am! From Chicago, live in Denver currently and am ready for something new! Dallas is a place I see as prosperity and success for me! I've never been, but will be there for Labor Day! I'm excited to check it out and hope I can call it home!
Traffic is awful here because of the influx of people moving here from other states the roads were not built to handle all the people. About 10 years ago there was a while you did not have to be sitting in traffic unless it was rush hour and even then it was only a short delay. If you move to Texas we will welcome you please just try and adopt the culture which is what makes it nice to live here. I love my fellow Texans we are laid back and don’t want the government telling us how to live. We don’t get angry and offended over every little thing and offer a beer or drink to people next to you when we are out enjoying parks or swimming in lakes. Get used to strangers striking up a conversation with you whether your at the grocery store or in line at the bank. I never realized how friendly people are here until I traveled to other places. We still love Jesus here and respect other religions but aggressive defensive atheists may feel out of place we will keep trying to share the gospel with you so just get used to it instead of angry about it. Men still hold doors for women here and Family is important. If you are ready to embrace the culture welcome!!!
Rasheen Taylor it’s crazy 8 months ago I moved to dallas and now I’m back in Alabama i miss dallas I’m going back soon texas has my heart and Dallas has my soul💯💯
I've lived in Dallas my whole life, and everything you talked about is spot on. Everyone is just so laid back. The traffic sucks, but if you avoid the times, you'll be fine. Also, so many patios.
We have a saying in Texas, "if you dont like weather, wait a minute". lol. Born and raised DFW. Ive seen the weather go from 70 degrees, then the next day 2 feet of snow and 2 days later it was 80 degrees. Texas weather.
Yes the traffic is insane. I've been here 4 yrs from VA. IT'S different. Jobs are great and cost of living is low but it's still an adjustment from living back east. Yes the weather is hot. Its summer for 7 months. No real beaches here. Very diverse with culture and plenty to do for every age.
I have lived in Denver for 19 years, Chicago for 3 years and Atlanta for 3 years but transferred to the Dallas/Ft Worth area with my job. No regrets. I had a home built and will be here the rest of my days. I could not agree more with you but did want to add how many places you must see here in Texas as well as nearby. You say you miss the beach. Spend some long weekends or vacations in Galveston! You'll love it! Do visit Austin, San Antonio (Riverwalk) Houston, Amarillo. Also you can go to Shreveport LA within 2 1/2 hour drive..great casino's also in Oklahoma within a couple of hours casinos. New Mexico Balloon Festivals not to mention the number of plays, concerts and sporting events. Cost of living is also less than any of the cities I've lived as well!
Wow! Thank you for the suggestions! I wrote them all down! I will make it my business to visit all the places you mentioned! Thanks for the info! Thanks for watching!
We're moving to DFW next month from Colorado Springs and honestly we're gonna miss beautiful CO. We're excited to be moving bc we love Dallas but scenic wise CO wins hands down. The con with CO for our family was the extreme dryness. It's so bad that I developed dry scalp and my hair started falling out and our son gets very bad nose bleeds. So, we're looking forward to humidity believe it or not.
Thank you for the video! Currently trying to convince my husband we need to move there from Miami (which is turning into a crap show) people in Texas are so sweet. Fingers crossed!
I was just there in Dallas (more so Grand Prairie) last week of July to see it for myself and went back to Atlanta even more determined to relocate to Dallas. Originally relocated to Atlanta from Nashville and can only say that I'm ready to leave. I've already set a deadline to move me and my family. Thanks for the video and appreciate your channel.
I'm coming to Dallas from Connecticut some people try to talk me out of it left my ex-wife I want to see a cowboy game before I leave this earth I've been a cowboy fans that 1974 are you watching on TV I want to see him live
I'm planning to move to Dallas from London, UK mate. The weather out there sounds like the weather here. You can have 3-5 different types of weather in a day lololol so from what you have said about the weather i'm good mate. Also any Rugby clubs in Dallas?
DaBlackSuperman492 Dallas is a cool city. I'm an Over the Road truck driver. I drive all over the country a lot of Dallas. always liked the vibe. plus, there's a cool lake like almost in Downtown (well pretty close) that's make me wanna get my jet ski out and throw it around. ...but unfortunately I work way to much... Good luck man! I think you'll like it...just be prepared for the humidity
Yes we have Rugby Clubs like Dallas Harlequins R.F.C., Dallas Diablo Here a website for Rugby in Dallas dallasrugby.org/ Here the website for the Dallas Diablo www.dallasdiablos.com/ Here another website for Rugby in Dallas www.alliancerugbyclub.com/ Here another one for Rugby in Dallas www.darc-rugby.com/ Here the website for the Dallas Harlequins www.quins.com/
I just took a vacation in dallas with my family and yea the traffic is horrible!!! I loved the experience and we did want to go back home. We were plan on moving to cali this year but scratch that its dallas for us.
You have to really mess up and be stupid to be hassled by the Police in Big D. Smiling goes a long way anywhere you go for most of the world. Texans are friendly, but be careful who you pick your fights with. I hope your experience continues to be positive!
Tulsatom Bob thank you! Yeah I’m pretty even keeled. I don’t look for trouble. I just stay positive and move forward. Help who I can help and let the rest play itself out.
Very correct. I got too many bad habits street racing. Last pullover there thank God race over I had slowed down to 99. My pickup was bigger than the Corvette in right land so I got clocked. The ticket was only $180. Now I live in Wisconsin and go to Chicago for culture. The police are complete vultures up here.
@@AF_1892 man I can relate to these comments I'm from Detroit look like u can be going to church on Sunday police pull u over moved to Buffalo been here 9yrs never really been pulled over that's why I think it's about money broke ass Detroit
Tulsatom bob...... The police are nice!!!????? (Setting the viewers up for failure I see. But yea.. By and large the inner city police with DALLAS written on their cars are laid back. What you forgot to mention is the 100 plus SUBURBAN police departments... Addison. Farmers Branch. Duncanville. Coppell. Irving. FtWorth. Arlington phew!!! This is only a short list... Frequent those areas and you will find out sooner than later
I went from Toronto to NY to Westlake and the culture shock is real there’s open roads , wildlife everywhere ,everyone is humble asf . Texas is the place to go man
Make sure you make it out to Fort Worth as well... totally different vibe as well. Just a short drive and a nice change of pace from Dallas. Both cities are great.
@@tarawalton6778 They just have a different vibe from each other... Dallas is more about glitz and glamour while Fort Worth has a western vibe to it and is a bit more laid back.
Great video! As someone moving soon, I appreciate this a lot. I’m from outside Albany, NY and moving to Rockwall (a DFW suburb) in the spring. I’m incredibly excited! I can’t wait to get out of this terrible state and get to the only state that has any damn sense left.
(As a texan)I've never seen a beach, I've never been to a beach. I want to though. I want to find seashells, and crabs, and smell the salt water. I also want to look out at the horizon. I want the experience
Brother please make a video about the DART! Both the train and bus. It'll be dope to compare the public transit systems between big cities (Dallas - NYC for your case)
if you like lakes , you should go to ray hubbard, on the dallas side, there is a hooters and a few other places right by bass pro, some good fishin that way and I think a gun range closeby
My husband and I are moving here in September. From England. He will be working in the hospital but I won’t have a working visa. I’d like to volunteer any help appreciated. Top 10 things to do? Thanks for the great blogs really helpful
To the person reading this, you are who God says you are. You are made in the image of God, The Creator of heaven and earth. Because of His love for you and I, He sent His only Son Jesus Christ to die for you so that you can have everlasting life and not go to hell. Jesus Christ arose from the dead, He is alive and is the only Messiah, the King of kings, the Beginning and the End. Jesus Christ is the Savior of the whole world. Accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, invite Him into your heart/life today. Wherever you are, He can hear you for He is everywhere. Remember Jesus Christ is the ONLY way to God the Father. Jesus loves you sooooo much so that He gave His life for you. You are valuable...You are loved.
hey man. You should send this and the "pros and cons" video to the Amazon team that is deciding where to relocate their 2nd HQ. They will like it. You give fair assessments so it sounds honest.
I believe statistically Dallas is the number one rated larger city in the country and Texas is rated the number one state. But traffic has always been horrible in Dallas. There’s not much negative to say about big D. The heat is a Southern thing not a Dallas thing. Ever been to Louisiana? It’s hotter than a Bourban St stripper on Fat Tuesday.
Texas sucks. I can't wait to move away. It costs too much to live here. The road rage is ridiculous. Expect your car insurance to raise ridiculous. Hailstones will tear up your car. The bugs are gigantic. It is comparable to Baltimore on the rodent problem.
Don't isolate yourself. There are people who have been through what you might be facing right now and they overcame it. Don't push people away, surround yourself with people who are spiritually mature and get the help that you need. Isolation when you are in pain and don't know if there's a way out is dangerous and that's why we have suicide cases. Listen, there's nothing that you can be facing that God is not able to solve for with God nothing is impossible. Hold on. Jesus loves you.
Not to knock you but honestly everything you said is relatable to every big Southern Metropolitan City. And if you guys complain about these cons try living in SF Bay Area; besides the weather all the cons you mentioned is amplified x10
This year is the real Texas heat you didn’t experience last year. They have been less hot for the last three years... really wondering how you think of it now especially with this drought we had for like over a month... we need the rain here
We Got Everything in the DFW And Clean Beaches, Check out Eagle Mountain Lake in the Summer, They Have a Nice Beach, We Got Possum Kingdom , We got alot of Lakes though! And Pool Bars and Yacht Clubs... Come to Rockwall Tx If you want LUXURY, ITS 20 Minutes East of Dallas Stay at Hilton... . Galveston Island on the 3rd Coast is 5 Hrs Away from North Texas.
Bro. Texas has over 300 miles of beaches 🏖 and a whole bunch of 25000 + acre lakes. Which you did mention. In fact if you go to the beach you can hit areas where you’ll have miles beach all to yourself. Most of Texas beaches are undeveloped. There not full of condos or over crowded with tourist.
I am glad that you love Dallas. I am moving back to Dallas in September from Brookings, South Dakota. My daughter is military and was stationed here. The weather up here is a learning experience for me. It is still snowing up here and it is April. I have been in Brookings, South Dakota for three and a half years now. I will never complain again about the weather when I get back ever again and I miss the food and getting my hair done.
I noticed when I moved down here from up north it seemed to me that things just moved slower. Not that working hard was different. Still worked hard. But everything is more laid back.
@@m00setoo I was talking to my class mate from Chicago an he said the same thing you just said. Ya i agree I lived close to San Francisco so I know hectic lol
Next video give more details about lifestyle between NY and Dallas, housing, communities, restaurants, job situation and cost living. Overall great job!!!
So glad you are in Texas, I have lived here and the weather is bipolar but I couldn't imagine living anywhere else, so many opportunities and nice people
I agree. Lived in DFW for three years. Too boring, spread out, the jobs don't pay well and the rents are too high. I moved back to my hometown of Chicago and I am doing much better here.
Move to Toronto Canada we litty over here clean version of NYC and we the most multicultural city on the planet....are lingo here in Jamaican patois mixed with some local words lol your gonna get used to us ...6ix !
I don't blame you . New York is on a whole different level than Tx. I am from TX and visited new York (Brooklyn ) a couple times and didn't want to leave . There was always something to do , a ton of diversity and you didn't have to drive everywhere and the weather was not crazy hot like it is in Texas . I need to go back to visit soon
I've been in Dallas for about a year now. I am also from New York! I definitely agree that the traffic here drives me crazy (gotta love other drivers cutting you off without using signals) ugh lol. Defintely check out Austin! The quirkiness of that city will draw you in haha
Hi there! Hearing you just now was perfect for me. I'm originally from Chicago but living in NYC a long time and am ready for a change. I spent time today looking at videos re small towns but loved what you had to say about Dallas. I'm a painter, poet, and now writing novels, so NYC was great for me and I took part in a lot of it. But now I feel sort of been there done that and need a change. I can work at my day job from anywhere but freelance so finance an issue. I've got a good deal here. But you certainly gave me alot to think about. I'd love to hear more about finances there, rents, neighborhoods, etc but guess I can find some of that online though I like hearing it from a former NYer and I wonder what your other videos are about. I don't drive so that may be a big problem. Here in NYC plenty of public transportation. So thank you very much. No such thing as conincidence!
@Jacqueline Stigman Someone asked that in the earlier comments. Check earlier up the page. I believe they have a DART transit system and also light rail. Also, Uber and Lyft and used for cab and transportation services.
I live in DFW moved from London then New York and tbh as a Carribean I'm starting to dislike it, texas has been good to us but TEXAS IS BORING and no Culture and people are very Fake. Fasion and Mentality is 10 years behind. My wife is Puerto Rican can she cant stand Texas!!! That's why we always go on holiday. But then again I'm in Frisco and I heard Houston is better but after the mass shootings and racism it's time to leave.
I agree with you that people here in DFW are very fake. Also, it is a very socially conservative area. I relocated here last year from PA and it is not what I expected.
Even though dallas is growing and is a cool city just know they bangin out here heavy gun shots every night the difference is here citizens can carry guns and defend themselves against crime nyc you get 10 years for carrying a gun been here since 07 its a laid back vibe here but definitely not new york and yes traffic is bad in dallas but Houston is worse and the saying goes if you don't like the weather in tx just wait 10 minutes it'll change and brutal summer heat better have ac
Man I prefer to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. Trust me I wanted one in NY too. Criminals love knowing the average person can’t protect themselves. It’s much different out here for sure. I’m always carrying.
Love the candor and the transparency of your videos. I'm looking relocating into Dallas area as my next journey spot. I would like to know how to traverse the job market. I'm into technology Cloud Engineering etc and would like to know how to check into the job markets there. Any resources or online communities you or others recommend for me? I'm from the NYC area also currently.
I would say to search for groups on Facebook and check out city-data.com and look through the forums. Internet is very broad. Good luck. Thanks for watching.
I have an opportunity to move to Dallas, grew up in Queens now living Long Island 90% moving to Dallas for a job. I’m very open minded thanks for video! Any more updates on what it’s like living out there?
I live in Dallas my whole life I visit other cities countries but I just cannot leave Dallas now we are beginning to get a lot of people from different cities and countries living here may be due to their jobs are there just tired of paying high cost of living Dallas has the most cheapest cost of living that you can live in I like your video you hitting all the right spots and if you like it you stay here man I would I've been here since I was born Alana will never leave Texas Dallas Texas there is
That movie theater with the bar that you were talking about is like 3 minutes from my house. I live in Highland Park very close to it. Couldn’t agree more with your list.
Loved this video, a real reality check on Big D...are we friendly, crazy drivers, do we love our dogs & cats? What about those Studio Movie Grills with the food and beverage bars! There is also some great Midtown living in North Dallas. Town Homes are attached single family homes with pools, tennis courts and a Club House for owner events! Downtown or Oaklawn, West Side are not the only places for singles and young families! I moved here way back when Dallas had only one live theatre venue! AND Love Field was THE AIRPORT!
The problem with Dallas is, it's very social and it is too much fun. There is fast energy there, like no place I've lived. The economy is good, cost of living is low, people are friendly, happy , incredible parties and good food. People say New York doesn't sleep, I had to move to LA to get some shut-eye. Dallas gets an A.
Great video. I'm from the cities too but honestly, It is the way it is because the people kept it that way. Keep Texas, TEXAS. Afterall, it is the reason for the move. Moved away from what I don't want and never looked back.
It's not just Dallas. It's the South. I have lived in the South for a good while. I was raised in Cali and what I love about the South is the people. The people are great. The weather is tooooooo hot.
You are right about the police. I was stopped when I first moved from Florida bc of my tag. The officer was very nice and just advised to go and my tag changed. I had already been living there for over 3 months.
For transportation do u recommend an additional off road vehicle to get work faster by traveling off road, I plan on visiting Dallas Texas early 1st before moving there in about 3-5 years, ima senior in high school n I plan on finishing school/college down here in Florida and then start working a day job n just trying to save at least 5k to 10k for a down payment for a house from a day job and later on mechanics at Dodge, I want to start my working for Dodge in Florida 1st than relocate to Dallas Texas so Dodge can ship me to a local Dodge dealership in Dallas Texas, n is there a lot of Dodge dealerships over there?
What does an imitation meat vegan burguer taste like,? so, let me ask, if y'all vegans have to imitate meat, doesn't that tell you something? Just curious of that thought process..
I love how you literally went from strip clubs to church lol. Priceless.....I'm more interested in the strip clubs. Thanks for the video. I'm moving to Dallas summer/fall 2018.
20 years ago (when the internet was newer-ish) the escort services were on the city’s web page. Gotta get that convention business!! For the strip clubs just cruise I35E between 183 and 635. Can’t throw a rock without hitting one. 🤣
I love how you went straight from strip clubs to churches😂😂 But I'm currently living in Houston and I plan on moving to Dallas next year and this was very helpful. Btw when you go to Austin you should definitely check out the state capital, the drag, and the graffiti park
Meaning if you don’t have the education and talent to live well in NYC you move to Dallas! After all someone eats at Olive Garden! Who needs authentic Italian cuisine when you have Olive Garden Italian! TX has imported a the highest percentage of college grads of any other state. Why? Because TX does not have ONE world class university! Imagine that! Sorry but UT is not a world class school. MA has 2 schools within 10 miles of each other and that are in the top 10 schools in the world. Culture! Sorry football is not culture! Intellectual center! Again nothing! This is why NY and CA are the states with economies that drive the economy. TX has oil! A 19th century resource. The list is endless...
Dallas traffic is not as bad as Houston. There is only traffic during rush hours. It's hot in Dallas from June to September, other than that the weather here is mild which is awesome. I moved from Paris France to Dallas 20 years ago and I like Dallas, it's a big city but not overwhelming like New York IMO. It's a good place to raise your kids and there is plenty employment over here.
I lived in Houston for a short period of time but did not get to fully experience it because I was pregnant. Moved back to California but now I’m reconsidering Texas. Can anyone tell me which city between Dallas and Houston is great to raise a child. A kid friendly community? Thank you
Heat everyday over 112 degrees 10 months of the year, yeah heal storms every other month damaging your cars. And yes the worse drivers in the country, cars with no signal lights no bumpers, I have seen cars missing doors more people died here of car accidents than anywhere in the country probably. Think twice before moving here lately is too much crime in Dallas fort Worth is becoming norm.
