It's easy to overlook what these drum tools can do and the quality of the samples, patterns and grooves that come delivered. In my own journey to try out everything in the Komplete bundle the drums and percussion stand out, just for the sheer number of kits and samples included. Sure, you can download free drum samples and make kits, or insert loops and samples from services like Splice, Sounds or Loopcloud, but before you stray to far, take a good look at what's already there!
In this video, I make the case for the value in just the drum and percussion instruments in Komplete. Then I walk through a demo and tutorial of each - not just the official 9, but also 2 more sampled instruments for percussion. In order, I'll cover 40's Very Own Drums, Empire Breaks, Butch Vig Drums, then Abbey Road 60's Drummer, Drum Lab and Studio Drummer, followed by West Africa, Cuba and Kinetic Metal, then finishing up with Battery 4 and Polyplex.
You'll gain a solid understanding of the differences between each drum instrument and how to use them. More importantly, you may find these drum tools are better than most new drum applications and software often sold separately.
